I love Wonder Woman very much and I love her potential to explore themes of truth’s different meanings and violence against women and what it means for trauma to be passed on or processed in different circumstances but unfortunately all this potential is snubbed by her support of the military vis a vis her solider boyfriend and her origins as a character designed to encourage women to join the war effort. I think if you wanted to give her story real impact and meaning this would have to be completely removed and as such I long for a universe where Etta and the Holliday Girls are an internationally touring band and Steve is their loser friend who manages the finance and Diana follows them all around as the friend who can’t hold an apartment

holmes brought watson along thinking he was really going to die and he just wanted watson there because he needed his boswell he needed his watson there he needeed that confort cause he thought it was really over he was really gonna die this time and he was scared, but when the danger really showed itself to him instead of begging watson to stay in stead of trying to keep that comfort with him, instead he told watson he should leave, he told watson to go, he wanted watson to be safe even if holmes couldnt be. and watson stayed. because watson has always seen holmes's need. because he's always just wanted to be there for holmes. because hes always just wanted to care for him as his doctor but also as his friend. but when holmes saw his death just on the horizon and an opportunity showed itself to get watson away from the danger, he took it immediately.he really thought he was going to die then, but he didnt even ask for watson to be there for him in his final moments. he didnt ask for that. because he just wanted to know that watson would be okay, watson would be safe, watson would keep living without him.

and when he came back, watson wasn't mad because he was lied to. watson was sad because he wished he could have been there, by holmes's side, taking care of him.

In hindsight, perhaps trying to snag that interesting flower sprouting out of the cliffside was a mistake. Perhaps, just maybe, it was not their best idea to inch out on what seemed to be a 'sturdy enough' bit of branch to get a closer look. And maybe, just possibly, they could have been a little more cautious rather than rushing to snatch it up before their companions notice them doing something silly and arguably 'dangerous.'

In their defense, it was a very odd-looking plant. Okay- that was a bad defense. But in defense of that, they don't get out much.

All of these realizations come just a second too late, of course, as Iago is abruptly pulled away from their curious side quest by the crack of a branch. They scramble to grab onto something to little avail and a string of uncharacteristic curses spills out of them right as their stomach drops.

What an embarrassing way to go. And I've crushed the flower, I won't even be able to find out what kind it is. Maybe I'll have time for research since it seems I will likely break every bone in my body and be bedridden for Gods know how long oh look there's the ground well this is simply the worst shit shit shit sHIT-

Ever the coward, their eyes are squeezed firmly shut when their stomach flips again, their fall brought to a halt by something other than the earth coming to meet them. They feel dizzy by the sudden change of direction and when their eyes pop back open, they feel as if they might've truly fallen and this is some sort of fever dream while they're broken and likely bleeding to death at the bottom of a cliff.

But the whizzing of air past their face and the steady bwhum bwhum bwhum (as they will later transcribe it in their journal) of large wings certainly seems real enough after a few moments of recovery. Their hand - not the one still dazedly clutching onto an absolutely obliterated flower - twitches for something to hold onto and they find only scales (Scales!?). Iago snaps back to attention in an instant as they try to sit up for a better look. The wind nearly knocks them right off again in their excitement and they have to throw themselves flat against the dragon's (DRAGON?!) back once more.

"You have to be kidding me," A delirious, adrenaline-fueled laugh bubbles out of them and they lift their head again, a little more carefully this time, eyes wide and sparkling. Any and all logic flits out of their head. Iago's incessant internal monologue and overthinking come to a blissful silence for the first time in years, replaced by pure awe.

They feel like they're nine years old again drawing pictures of dragons in the dirt outside their childhood home. This is easily one of the best things to have ever happened to them.

I am being so real when I say that my ability to compare any song to Nevermoor basically starts and ends with “The Wondersmith and his Sons” lolll 🙆 I’m not good with really taking music I listen to and comparing it to media that often, but especially not with Nevermoor because I don’t think that much of what I would listen to could really fit in any ways. 🤷

I’d love to see some sort of edit that parallels Mog’s loneliness as a cursed child to Cadence’s loneliness as a mesmerist, though. That seems like the easiest pathway to an angsty edit lol.

And for the latest news on movie….. all we’ve got is it being announced as changing hands to Paramount as it became a movie musical with Michael Gracey set to direct last year in April 2022. Since then, she did say something on April 1st, 2023 though! It was in response to me on Twitter sharing people’s reactions to my Nevermoor April Fool’s joke, lol. I don’t have a screenshot handy because she deactivated, so I’m sorry that this is very much “source: just trust me bro”, but the latest thing she said was:

I WISH I could give you some sneaky tidbit of news in return, but I fear someone would come and smother me in my sleep. All I can tell you is that some very Wundrous things are happening in the background, and I can't wait to share!

So. 🤷. I’m sure that the Hollywood strikes haven’t helped either, though. The WGA strike ended recently, and hopefully SAG will get a deal soon too as well!! I think the fact that the only two people attached have been working on other things probably hasn’t helped much either, but Hollywood is a mysterious place. Hopefully it doesn’t get stuck in Development Hell forever, but it could be likely that with any news we get, there’ll be long stretches of nothing in between. Idk if any news sites or scoopers are really rushing to know the latest on a musical adaptation of a children’s book best known in Australia 😅

It is possible El was too busy to attend the epilogue party as they claim. Very possible. I find it more likely, though, that they just . . . didn't want to attend. It's mentioned in Shandril's Saga that they don't like feasts / parties / the like anymore. They did once — centuries ago. Now all they think about is the parties ended and faces buried long ago. They encourage others to indulge, particularly the young, but if they can avoid it all, they will.
