this is from chapter 1 of my drarry fic

But Draco didn’t die, then. He wasn’t killed by the cold, like he onced wished on those long feverish nights. He survived, like any good Slytherin would. He even outlived the living tumor that was housed in his ancestor’s grounds; he survived the war that brought the rise and fall of everything he knew about the world.  And afterwards the trials, where he came on the other side with his mind somewhat intact.  He still doesn’t know how he survived that particular time, more of a ghost than a human, then. Back when everyone wanted a piece of him, to tear and break. To step on. To spit on.  No one wanted to look at him and yet, all eyes followed him wherever he went—the youngest Death Eater, for everyone to see. The one who wasn’t good enough to be a proper villain nor good enough to be a hero. That general distaste was what made him make it through it.  That and Harry Potter.

Seasonal WIP Update

Hey friends, lurkers, and those who have yet to decide if they want to follow this hot mess...

It’s that time of year when I give you guys an idea of what I’m working on and what you can expect to see in the near (and probably far) future. I just wanted to clear things up for anyone following me from specific fandoms, and want to know if I was going to make anymore content for that fandom. The answer is: Yes. I’ve got something (or multiple somethings depending on the fandom) for everyone sooooo without further ado, let’s go to the breakdown!

Drarry

Big Bang - Despite the fest being over, this is still very much a WIP and probably will be for a while because it’s a lengthy project, and there’s large sections of the plot being rejigged. Est WC: 60-100k by the end. 

LCD Project - I had an idea for something for @lcdrarry a year or so ago and just never really plotted it out until this summer. I’ve got the first chapter or so written but have put it aside while I work through some other projects first. If all goes well I might try to submit it for LCD this coming year. Est WC: 50k ish. 

The incubi drabble - It’s on my list, and somehow I’ve completely forgotten to go back and finish this. Featuring Incubus!Draco (sort of), and prey!Harry. 

L.A. Devotee - Featuring Demon!Harry. It’s currently sitting around 10k ish? But got pushed way down the list when Big bang popped up. With any luck, I will have it finished and posted this year. Est WC: 50K+

Two Geldings... - The first chapter to this was already posted on AO3. I do have an outline for this and will get back to it, I swear, but it too got bumped down the list. We can all thank my ADHD for that. Featuring 8th Year Drarry taking care of magical horses. 

The Serial Killer project with @lyskari - Because we love writing really dark shit and planned this for whumptober and then we both subsequently got SUPER busy.  We will also be writing this eventually when things slow down. But I got a lot on my plate and I know they do too. 

Sirius/Charlie

Kiss your baby - This should actually be out pretty soon. It’s written, and we’re just going through some edits on it. I might add some extra bits here and there but it’ll likely be the first thing I post coming up. Possibly. 

Darklina

The Devil is a Gentleman - Currently a posted WIP, with chapter two finished. (Just need to actually edit it) Featuring Modern Au, COO!Aleksander, Engineer!Alina, and a bunch of tropes. 

The 50 Reasons to have sex series - In which I write Darklina drabbles/fics based on the ‘How I met your Mother’s’ 50 reasons to have sex list. Varied. Not all related. 

Merthur

The one where Arthur gets off to Merlin cussing - This one was supposed to be done already, technically it’s almost done. It just took a turn for the loving and soft which made me go... wait wtf just happened. SO I might have to pause that while I figure out what went wrong. 

The really special Christmas one - My plan is to start posting this on the 14th. I’m about 6 out of 12 chapters in, 18k I believe? I revised some stuff I just have to put a lot of time into it over the next few days in order to get it done done. 

Camboy!Arthur - What it says on the tin, but also features Roommate!Merlin and honestly? I think it’s going to be equal parts hilarious and sexy. It’s completely outlined and the first chapter or so is already done. But it was also put aside while I finish this christmas one. 

That College AU - Again, what it says on the tin + a large amount of just random plot. This has also been pushed to next year. 

That other College AU feat. Fratboy!Arthur with @zaharya - Who actually knows when we get to this one but it lives in my head rent free almost all the time. 

Witcher!Arthur - Is currently just a series of snippets that live in my docs. Will this ever see the light of day? maybe. I wouldn’t hold your breath for any time soon though. 

Geraskier

Our boys as Corpsekunno - The boys as youtube/streamers who flirt. Geralt is faceless but has a voice that destroys most people’s loins. Jaskier is the soft flirt who loves everyone. 

That’s not everything but those are the ones I’m really hoping to finish this coming year. Fingers crossed as many of them will probably take most of my sanity to finish. HOWEVER, I hope yall will stick with me for the ride regardless.

Right. This year was insane, I got stuck first half of the year in Ireland with only 2 friends close by, all my family in Brazil or Spain while I was writing my bloody master thesis (that is what I’m proudest of this year, but it’s not published yet, so won’t go in this list). I managed a lot of hard emotions in solitude, by myself, while reading drarry fics to keep afloat (great coping mechanism, actually!). And after handing my thesis and moving to Spain, I was feeling deeply empty. So I went back to fic-writing, after 2 or 3 years of not even looking at my old fics. 

It all started when I saw the posts for prompt claiming on the @hd-hurtfest  blog. To think how that post changed everything in my life is just bizarre. So I am very thankful! It has been a huge pleasure to go back to fic-writing and to re-embrace the HP fandom, mainly the drarry squad! To get to know so many lovely people and I’m forever grateful for that. 

Here is my Top Five:

hear me (with your whole body): (Drarry, E, 9k) this is the fic I wrote for the hd-hurtfest 2020. I saw @quicksilvermaid’s prompt and I shivered. It lured me so much I had the whole plot in my head as soon as I finished sending the claim. It was so hard to write it. Because the topic is very sensitive: open relationships, sexual mismatch, bad communication skills. I brought most of my bad experiences in all these sensitive topics as if I was purging it from my body while writing ‘hear me’. It was a very raw process of looking into my own still bleeding wounds, but very cathartic. And it was hard because it was my very first drarry (I love drarry and I normally only read drarry, but I’ve never felt confident enough to write it), so I was very nervous. And in bloody English xD LOL but I’m bloody proud of it. I wanted to write something real without making a show of blaming one of the parts, at the same time I wanted to use and unreliable POV (Harry’s) and to bring forth all those very uncomfortable realities of jealousy, insecurity of one’s sexuality etc. in a way people could relate to. I’ve never imagined the response to this fic would be so nice, and many of the comments drove me to deep reflection. I’m specially happy about this fic because after writing ‘hear me’ something cracked open inside of me, in my own personal-romantic life and also in writing. Like a small miracle. And then, I couldn’t stop writing anymore.

Rebel Rebel: (Sirius/Remus. E, 5k) heh, Wolfstar is my OTP *-* So writing this tiny fic with ‘there was no war’ prompt for the sirius black fest was a bloody delight. The feeling of exploring their youth, in the early 80s and the whole atmosphere of that time was exhilarating! Bowie’s concerts, HIV+ and Aids, queer community and old school crushes. Giving them a future and professions was fun as fuck. But the best part was making Sirius Black fuck around, wild and free, you know. Because he bloody well deserved it. I love the writing style I explored there, very influenced by Caio Fernando Abreu, one of my favourite Brazilian writers and it was just great great fun!

Dragons Don’t Know Paradise: (Drarry + Wolfstar, E, 40k+ WIP) I need to post 3 more chapters along this next few days.  I’m adding Dragons here because NEVER. IN. MY. LIFE I thought this story would come out of my head into the pages, and I’m so bloody happy, so bloody proud of myself. I cannot believe how much I’ve written in a month, about a plot that had some path in my head but never a shape, and how this all blossomed inside of me and how it’s coming out just brilliantly. I know I’ll think back at some point and think this and that are not great. But I think this fic is one of my best works, it deals with the queer community, with depression and acceptance, with HIV+ folk, and deep emotions. Everything I’ve ever dreamed of writing. And here it is, and writing it made me manage the fact that I wouldn’t be able to spend this xmas with my family, so I spent this last month with this characters and feeling the opposite of lonely. And to be able to write Harry having a family, you know, being raised by Remus and Sirius is just marvellous. I’m over the moon with wolfstar being great gaydads :D

Scorching: (Pansmione, E, 1.5k) first time I translated a Portuguese fic of mine to English. It was fun to do it, as it’s purely smutty smut and well, I love pansmione and it makes me greedy to go back to writing about this ship. I like how it turned out, but it’s not beta-ed so maybe it’s not great. But damn, I really like this Pansy. ^^

The Old Ways: (Voldemort/Walburga, M, 3k). So, I have a whole word document full of snippets on the Black family. As the Black family is my huge guilty pleasure (that’s why Tainara Black has been my pen name since 2005). I don’t like to think Walburga was only a mad pureblood bigoted woman, I like to think of her as being strongly magical and very sure of herself. Someone three-dimensional with knowledge of Dark magic of the old ways and a deep insanity that comes with legacy of pureness, but also with financial influence and  management of old wizarding land. I realised Walburga is only 1 year older than Voldie, she is closest to his age than her husband or brother (if we follow the Balck Family Genealogical Tree), and this sparked a whole idea inside of me. So this fic is a character study of Walburga when Sirius is only 10 and Voldemort is organising a war, and I honestly think is one of my best fics (even though it wasn’t beta-ed). I loved writing about this powerful witch, that got stuck in keeping her bloodline alive, that gave up on great deeds of power and freedom to become a pureblood mother and wife. But it’s the fic no one reads, so I’m adding a bit of it here in hopes it may interest someone:

He climbs the last step of the noisy, rusty, winding stair, his eyes mapping the place in silent wonder. The rooftop is sombre. Rough grey cement floor and dead flower beds in a far corner, big dark clay pots with dead branches and dry bushes scattered around; the only living thing is an imposing carnivorous plant, it’s toothed lips opening and closing sharply around bugs and other insects.

She is right there, in the centre of the chaotic rooftop garden and he thinks the house is in shambles, and so is she. The moon is reflecting its cold brightness over her as if it were a stage light. He takes a second to contemplate her stance. He has never seen her like this before. It is such an incongruous sight it almost feels like he’s intruding. Is not a feeling he’s used to.

She’s perched in a high frail copper chair, her ankles crossed lightly, with pale bare feet against the dirty coarse floor, one white arm falling languidly from the armrest, her elegant fingers holding a thin long smoking pipe. Rings of smoke rising into the night sky. The back of her skull resting on the back of the chair, he can’t see her face from this angle, but he’s stunned by the imagery.

She looks almost mythical; with her long black mane messy and loose, barely touching the ground. He can’t remember when was the last time he’s seen her hair down, but he’s pretty sure it wasn’t that long, nor were there silver strikes colouring it in a mix of salt and pepper.

“How long do you plan to stare?” her voice is as rusty as the whole house and he scoffs.

Favorite story I’ve written so far: Probably Catch the Snitch. I really felt like I hit my stride with how I wrote smut there and it's sort of become my gold standard to follow in future fics.

Fic you were nervous to post: Rotten Work. It's a bit more... experimental, style-wise, so I was a little anxious about it. That said, people seemed to enjoy it! So I might

How do you choose your titles: Sometimes I pick from poetry or song lyrics if it matches the theme (I did this with I See Both Sides (like Chanel)), but sometimes a relevant title just comes to me.

Do you outline: Yes! I outline rather extensively, actually. Before I start writing, I create a google doc with all the major plot points. I add in comments if I have any specific dialogue/details/tone in mind for that part of the fic. I also tend to add in extra notes regarding timelines, world-building (i.e., magical theory), character profiles, and fics I want to reference to write certain scenes. It ends up looking something like this:

While writing the fic, I tend to enlist my notes app to outline specific chapters. Here I incorporate the major plot points in (but in more detail) and give myself specific word counts to meet. If I don't give myself word count goals I will literally never meet my overall goal and write too short of a fic haha. It looks like this:

Complete: My last completed work was Rotten Work, which I mentioned above! (Is that what this question is asking about??)

In progress: The snippets of outline are from a Mystery/Case fic I've been avoiding working on for over a year. I'm hoping to get back to it in 2021, unless another fest diverts my attention lol.

WIP Ask Game

So, as the talking elevator proved to be a topic of interest, I decided to just make a post and answer it all at once. 😅

Thank you @bogglebeans @mxmaneater and @erebeus-roxy for asking about it! This was actually the first drarry fic I started writing after I joined the fandom, but I never quite finished it....😅 Basically it's a story where Harry is an Auror and Draco is a healer, and they have built up this weird freindship by having breakfast every Tuesday. All of Harry's friends are sure that they are dating but Harry is in denial. Then one day, Draco doesn’t show up for their breakfast and Harry loses it.

The elevator part is rather small and scratchy, but long story short the Ministry elevator has been charmed to talk and it flirts with Harry every chance it gets. 😂 here's a little snippet of the elevator part.

"Level 34-b as usual, Auror Potter?" The overly flirtatious drawl snapped Harry out of his thoughts, and with a grimace, he nodded at the metallic mouth that hung at the top of the elevator door. 

"It's an honour to have you go down on me as always, Auror," the sugary voice continued with its over the top innuendos, making Harry cringe. He hated this part of his day.

Thankfully, the sodding compartment was blissfully empty aside for himself this morning, so at least he didn’t have to deal with the vicious giggles and badly covered laughter that always followed after the harassment. All he needed to do was ignore the voice and everything will be fine.

The shrill "have a good day, Auror! Come back anytime!" kept ringing inside his head even after he stepped out of the compartment, and with a heavy sigh, Harry continued to walk towards his office.

He had been wary when Kingsley had brought up the idea of charming the elevators of the ministry to speak, saying things about 'modernization' and 'personalization' to make the place more professional.

Because, if the talking mirror in the bathroom at Grimmauld Place was anything to go by as, then Harry wasn’t keen on having another harassing voice to tell him how uncouth his hair looked every chance it got. Really, he should've incendio-ed the bloody thing the second it opened its snappy mouth, but days of patients had turned into months and now, well, Harry was a sentimental fool who got attached too easily.

The elevator of the ministry proved to be another problem altogether though. 

Instead of getting lectures and insults about his poor clothing — and sometimes, life — choices, Harry was met with a voice that all but fell onto its knees (if elevators had any knees, of course) the second it was met with the sight of him; swooning and giggling like a schoolgirl who had just met their crush. It didn’t help that the voice was of a forty year old woman that talked on a pitch way too high for Harry's liking, and boy, did it like to talk. 

So now Harry's mornings consisted of getting harassed by his mirror before scampering to the ministry, only to get hitted on by a 40 year old elevator. As if he didn’t get that enough already, being the idiot who thought it would be a good idea to live twice.  

The only thing that made this constant berating bearable was the weird little breakfast thing he had started to have every Tuesday morning, at a small cafe two blocks away, in the company of a certain blond. A certain blond that always came to the cafe on Tuesdays, at 9.30am sharp for the last six months in his fancy healer robes. Always. On the dot. Every single week.

They even had their own little table beside the window that no one dared to sit on.

Except for today, that is.

Yeah, that's it!! Sorry if this doesn’t make much sense, I really should get back on writing this one 😂😂

welcome to my shithplace tyler!! yes i do live like this, bitch. so do not judge my shit posts, there is a lot of them 😌

but my wips, since you are new here i will tell you about all of them, so buckle up. i usually sad stuff so don't worry about it

first, we got love you goodbye/to be alive (i still haven't decided on the name). it is a harringrove work and i am writing it whole before posting it so there won't be anything so soon, but anyways. it is inspired by Vaya Con Dios and it comes from the premise that Billy did have queer friends back in California, he was actively in the community of San Francisco. so after Starcourt, he has to navigate his old and new traumas while making amends with Max and Steve and having no way to contact anyone from his past during the aids epidemic. the chapters are always divided in three parts and in the beginning, the odd ones always have one part telling about billy's past, since his birth to them leaving california. it is my favourite work I've started so far, so i am really excited for when people get to read it!

california sunset is one of the saddest ones bc it comes from a more depressing premise, like it goes beyond things that we have in canon. in this one, the reason why they moved from california was bc billy attempted suicide and neil decided to move them away from california. max and billy's relationship on this one is much more alike to canon and them mending it back is probably the most important plot on this. we still have harringrove on this, but it's played differently than lyg as well as billy and heather's relationship here. robin is much more of a main character in this one, whilst on lyg she is more of a side character. california sunset has some of my favourite stranger things snippets i have written (billy's talk with his therapist, as i said in imjustapoorboi ask, being one of them), but i won't blow it. while lyg is more of an actual hurt/comfort, this one is more of emotional hurt/comfort and it is mainly about like misconceptions and misunderstandings so it is quite interesting to write.

someone that feels like safety is also a sad one lmao. it's a merlin/arthur one where it's actually arthur that needs the comforting! i realised like some days ago that arthur would probably have a lot of trust issues since you know everyone in his life has at some point betrayed him. so he already comes from that place and i pepper (? i don't remember if that's the word) in some good old childhood trauma coming back to haunt you. so in this one, arthur is practically a unresponsive mess and merlin is properly freaking out bc he loves him and doesn't want him to suffer. everything will probably be alright in the end, even though i haven't thought about what will happen then.

speak of her over my grave and watch how she brings me back to life is the third part of my ongoing series on harry potter soulmate!au. it initially started with a scorbus oneshot and then it progressed to have a part about james and this third part about draco and astoria. i know they aren't a fanfic favourite, I myself used to read drarry much more but once i wrote the first one shot, I got really involved on draco and astoria's relationship and how that molded scorpius' perception of soulmates. it is really sweet even though the first and the last bit are quite sad since they, respectively, follow draco's blatant depression on fifth/sixth year and then astoria's early death but still, they love each other a lot and i think i put a lot of my perception of love as a whole throughout the series. i haven't written for it in possibly months, but i still like it very much and i haven't even got to write one of my oldest headcanons ever so i will continue it someday.

empty walls can't hear you scream, can't see you languish was supposed to be a one-shot but hey, once again i'm invested. unexpectedly, this is a sad one. it's about steve and robin's friendship and how one night he tells her about his eating disorder, something that he had never said out loud. very much hurt/comfort, robin is the best friend ever and it's so good for both of them to have the other there. i still plan to continue a little bit on steve's recovery, but even i am not sure if i will ever continue the drafts so a bit of an incognito.

i think that's pretty much it! there are so many others that i have started but like i don't really have any intention to continue bc and there is also my best friend's favourite one that i never really wrote, just told her the plot and she is still completely head over heels for it even though it's been six years. but i swear that one day i will write enough, it is too good of a sweet angsty plot to waste it.

hello! i'd love to hear about Veritaserum and Other Things annnnd a snippet from A Christmas Wish if you feel like sharing!!

Hey Starry, thanks so much for the ask 💕

Welllll, Veritaserum and Other Things is an 8th year fic. Draco has kept to himself despite Seamus’ insistence that he joins their party games. One night, he hears Potter screaming, and his initial reaction is to just walk away. But he knows that nightmares suck, so he goes into his room and is shocked when Potter says, “Oh thank god it’s you.” Oh thank god it’s me? Draco isn’t sure what to think. But Potter smells like a distillery, is running a fever and vomits. Draco takes care of him, and because Potter is thoroughly sloshed and won’t remember anything in the morning, he opens up to him and shares things he never would have otherwise, just like if he were on Veritaserum. But, things aren’t as they seem, and Draco ends up feeling exposed and is determined to go to great lengths to avoid Potter afterwards.

I haven’t moved beyond the first draft of part 1, but I see it as a series of 2-3 one shots. I may even dust it off and make it Xmas themed for 25 Days of Drarry. Not sure yet.

A Christmas Wish is a chaptered fic I just thought of for 25 Days of Drarry, buuuutttt, I don’t know if I’m going to have the time/spoons to write it the way I want to. I may either try to keep it brief, or I will save it for next year and flesh it out over the year. It’s also 8th year. Post-war Harry feels down, especially with the holidays approaching. Draco is worried and follows him to Godric’s Hollow. They fight, a potion is spilled, and when they get up, they come face to face with James Potter. It’s Christmas Eve 1980. After determining they aren’t dark wizards, he invites them to his house and they spend the night with Wolfstar, Lily, James and 6 month-old Harry.

PRICES/PAYMENT

I charge $3 (U.S. dollars) for roughly 500 words (it could be a little more than 500, but never less). Want a 2k story? That will be $12. 

Logically, the longer the story is, the longer it will take me to fill the prompt. 

I take payment through Paypal. The easiest way to pay me is through my Ko-Fi. Donations there are already taken in increments of $3, & the payments go directly to my Paypal.*

I will need the payment BEFORE I post the finished product. I will let you know when I’m finished & send as many snippets as you’d like via IM or email to prove to you that it’s a) completed, & b) what you wanted. 

If the commission is longer than 3k, I will ask for 50% of the final cost up-front. Half of this down payment is NONREFUNDABLE (so, 25% of the final cost). This is non-negotiable. I don’t want to spend my free time writing something for you, only to have you change your mind at the last second. 

I post my works to Tumblr, Ao3, & DeviantArt. I will tag/link you in the posts (provided you tell me your Ao3 & DeviantArt usernames). 

It should go without saying, but DO NOT claim my writing as your own. DO NOT REPOST/REDISTRIBUTE MY WRITING.

*Ko-Fi is essentially a tip jar. You do NOT have to commission me in order to donate.

Thanks for asking! I was out of town so I waited to have all my wips with me 6. Favorite character you ever created.

My baby boy, Dylan. He’s a highschool kid that has selective mutism. He’s really nice, creative and observant. I created him when i was 14 aka almost 6 years ago and i haven’t written about him in a while but i adore him. 

8. Favorite trope to write. I really like angst with a happy ending, is that a trope or a genre? I also love pining and found family.

20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on. From a Drarry fanfic i’m working on:

“What’s wrong, Harry?” he asked quietly.

“It’s happening again.” He rushed. “I can’t breathe.” 

Part of Harry expected Draco to go and hex the Gryffindors. Maybe a glace filled with hate, a sneer, like he always did. Instead, his hands went to hold Harry’s chin and he looked into his eyes, taking one deep breath. Harry followed. Once he exhaled, Draco grabbed his wrist and started walking towards the dungeons. He didn’t let go until they reached the kitchens. A tiny house elf with an unexpectedly low and calming voice offered them tea as they breathed together. In and out. Slow. 

47. Do you start with characters or plot when working on a new story?

Usually a plot, or some part of it. Characters usually come as I need them. 

53. What does writing mean to you? Everything? It’s the only thing I believe I’m good at, the thing i’m most proud of.

Being a writer is part of my identity and makes me feel happy and accomplished. If anything else in my life fails, at least I know that i wrote down my feelings in a beautiful, emotional way; that i wrote dumb fanfictions that made people happy and that Little Me would be proud of every word i’ve ever put down on paper since the first time we took that writing class in middle school.
