After finally watching Nimona I have to say I think we should have more violence and harm in animated movies because I have never seen anything so fluidly executed than the first 10 minutes of the movie where we not only see the queen die but Ballister gets his fucking arm chopped off!!! Like dude thats crazy and i want more of that! !!
also that we need to put more queer people into them and let them break things

NEW AU COMING UP
Me and my friends from discord chatted a bit from this, thanks to them, I can finally come up with an au
- Set in post canon
- It started in the morning, Ambro and Nimona are trying to wake Bal up but it didn't work
- They did everything they can until they called the doctor for help
- The Doctor confirmed that Ballister's been poisoned
- Ambro and Nimona just couldn't believe it on what they heard so they started investegating on who poisoned Bal
- It took a while but with Nimona's animal forms, they were able to track the culprit
- When they exposed it, the culprit explained that they poisoned Bal just to avenge the director
- After they sentence the Culprit, the 2 with the big help of Meredith anazyle the poison Bal took in search for the cure
- Meredith agree to watch over Bal in his coma, so Ambro and Nimona can go beyond the wall to search for the cure but they must find is ASAP otherwise Bal won't wake up, or even worse: he'll die
- The search took almost a month with all the struggles from the outside world, but Ambro and Nimona finally go the cure
- While Meredith's working on the cure, she realizes that not only the cure can heal the poison but also true loves kiss
- Neither of the 3 did know that it’s true loves kiss that wakes the curse
- And once Ambrosius kisses Ballister after a long and grueling quest with nimona
- His eyes flutter but he doesn’t wake up fully. His face twitches and fingers wiggle but he isn’t awake
Nimona, defeated, hugs Ballister’s body and presses her nose at his hairline
- Because they worked so hard and been through so much for him to wake up and she wants to blame Goldie
- But in reality she knew deep down that it was silly that maybe true loves kiss does save the day
- And while the cries remain, Ballister finally wakes up.
- Because it was true love, the main healing yet the cure is secondary
- It was the true love both the people in his life had for him together that pulled him out of the curse
Facts about this: It was originally gonna be angsty, no cure, no true loves kiss, only death
- Why? Cause this was set in pre canon, the director was gonna kill Bal by poisoning him to death
- Same thing happens with Ambro waking Bal up, but Queen Valerin was there
- During the funeral, Queen Valerin decided to Bury Bal in the cemetery where the royals were burried, because she see's Bal as her own child
- Valerin's Grief was heavy, but Ambro's was even harder
- After almost a year, Ambro decided to investegate Bal's death so he set out to find every clue he could get with Valerin's permission.
- Took a while but he finally figured out and it was the director who did it
- The reason why she killed Bal is the same as canon, except Ambro manage to grab a hold of her and arrested the Director, for Commiting murder.
- In the end, once the director was Excecuted, Ambro and Valerin agreed to let the commoners become knights so Bal's death won't be in vain

No one asked, but since I'm obsessed with Nimona, here are some of my questions, wants and headcanons:
- Firstly, as much as I love--and will write fanfics about--Ballister getting Nimona back, I kind of want to see her confront Gloreth in the afterlife, like "YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU WERE SAFE FROM ME HERE, BITCH?!?!??!! WTF WERE YOU THINKING?!?!!????"
- Also, on that same note, I want to see her come to terms with the fact that if she can, in fact, die or not. I kind of want her to figure that out.
- Nimona being formally adopted by Ballister before he and Ambrosius get back together
- The whole dynamic of Ambrosius being Gloreth's descendant and Nimona knowing that
- Where did Nimona actually came from? I want that to be explained. A shape-shifting child doesn't just appear out of nowhere. She obviously had her powers when she came across the well where she met Gloreth, so is there another well that turned her or was she born that way and separated from her family very young? (I literally am incorporating this in my first Nimona fanfiction on Wattpad. It's called "We Could Go Anywhere (Nimona)" by sufandom75 on Wattpad. That's beside the point. Not the focus of this post.)
- Her being a menace to Todd (No deep meaning here, just want to see Nimona to at least torment Punchable Face Guy like the good chaotic shape-shifter that she is)
- Nimona leading expeditions outside the wall once she comes back
- Diego being more of a character
- The Director facing justice for her crimes
- Nimona finding out that Ambrosius tried to get Ballister to turn on her and that whole fallout in addition to finding out about his lineage, maybe saying something like "Ugh!!!! Congratulations, you're exactly like the REAL Gloreth, Golden Boy!"
- The long road to recovering Ambrosius and Ballister's relationship after arm-chopping, accusations, assumptions and most importantly Bal's boyfriend calling Nimona a monster and actively trying to kill his boyfriend's chaotic shape-shifter genderfluid child.
- People's reaction and adjustment to realizing they've lived a lie for generations
- The Queen watching from the afterlife as all of this unfolds in her kingdom while also side-eyeing Gloreth, her once-revered hero.
- If Bal, Ambrosius and Nimona do become a family, I want to see them adopt more kids and Nimona just being the best big sibling ever! Only having a soft spot for the kids, but knowing that they won't be as strong as her and becoming a responsible--yet still fun older sibling through all the inevitable shenanigans
- The Queen learning about the Director's betrayal and immediately beating the shit out of her upon her arrival to the afterlife
That's all for now, but comment if you agree or think if any of these are interesting!

Thoughts on Nimona (because a good friend asked):
Source: me, an expert on the webcomic (joking)
Okay SO:
There is so much foreshadowing in the beginning of the movie, which technically also happens at the beginning of the book, with Nimona's little red drawings too, but somehow for me it was different to see it animated
Goleth in the book Is Not A Thing. Doesn't exist. There IS no "1,000 years ago the kingdom was cursed" stuff. They said Goleth and I mentally went "who the FUCK is Goleth??"
In the book/webcomic/graphic novel, Ambrosius is the one who cuts off Ballister's arm, on purpose. Yes, Ambrosius, the twink gay boyfriend guy. (Also, in the book they both have long hair)
It's not super important, but in the book there's a bank heist that they do complete together and it kind of sets the stage for everyone to realize Nimona is a shapeshifter and is with Blackheart
In the book, part of the 'framing the director' thing is that she & the government agency (or whatever it is) have this massive supply of jaderoot, which is like, this poisonous plant (more on that later)
I didn't fully understand that 'the Director' was like, basically the queen until I was literally watching the movie. I guess I understood her to be like, almost a head-security person? You really only see her in the book being like "guards! Capture Ballister!" or "the plan didn't work 😡"
OH. Very important. At the end of the book— in the part of the movie where they put all those spidey webs on Nimona and capture her— in the book, they bring her to.... basically an experiment lab, they put her in a tank with a lot of jaderoot and shock her and do all this torture stuff and they're basically like "Tell us how you got like this", and she talks about how she was cursed by a witch who gave her shapeshifting powers BUT they were very loose (in that she can transform into literally any animal/creature/etc) ("She wasn't a very good witch," she says)
On that note! If I remember right, basically her parents abandoned her after she became a shapeshifter (or maybe before?) and in the book, she did pillage and burn down villages in the meantime— which she references at the beginning of the movie, but it's never fully explained or expanded upon
There's this really good dialogue between Ballister and Nimona at the end of the book, which I don't think was in the movie-- where, Nimona is being tortured and they're using all the stuff to try to punish her for being 'a monster', and she says to Ballister, "You're not the only one who thought you could change me. Who thought you'd fix me until you saw who I really was" (or something like that, I'm blanking on the exact words right now), and it's at that point in the book where she turns into a little girl, and then turns really big and into that dark shadowy thing
Also, when she's a little girl, in between being different monsters (so to speak), in the book she looks at Ballister and says "You came back for me?" And he says "Of course I did"
There are references to Nimona "doing this before" in terms of being the 'monster', but there isn't the whole Goleth/chosen one backstory like there is in the movie
Nimona's voice doesn't sound like that To Me. In my head I always thought she'd be like, grittier and spunkier? She was almost like, trying too hard to be carefree and cool in the movie, IMO. Also, in the book, it is a thing where Ballister asks questions about her life and she gets Very Distracted by like, random weapons or different poisons or whatever
ALSO. This has been killing me because I don't fully remember, but. I think in the book, Nimona does almost certainly die or disappear... but there's also this really bittersweet panel with different red animals where Ballister is basically like 'Sometimes I hope you're out there and that I'll see you again someday'. And in the movie she DIED-died and I don't think she deserved that, honestly
Thank you for asking @grayscale-kaleidoscope <3 I'd love to hear your thoughts on the movie too
