#this isn't actually why I made a richter blog
Note
any good obscure musical recs?? ive listened to like almost 400 musicals and i need some new ones
oh boy, oh boy, oh boy *rubbing hands together* i'm so glad you asked
my number 1 go-to rec is always "waitress" cause it's gotta be my favorite; it's my comfort musical, i know it's a little more mainstream but i've met a lot of people who just weren't interested enough to watch it, so if you fit into that category pLEASE DO
i think i'd also have to recommend "avenue q"; it's fucking funny, the whole show is done with puppets and the dude who wrote it purposefully hired people who had worked either on sesame street or the muppets, only on this show they're swearing up and down, talking about porn, racism and whatnot; gold mine.
i also love "35mm-a musical exhibition;" dude wrote a musical that makes you feel like you're walking down an photography exhibition and each song tells the story to a different picture. i've actually got a side blog ( @35mm-a-musical-exhibition ) with the pictures to each song cause they're so frickin hard to find??? i was like, why hasn't anyone just dug deep to find the pictures and compiled them all into one place yet?? meh, somebody's gotta do it so it might as well be me (that was a "spies are forever" reference if you didn't get; another great rec; it's a tin can brothers musical, that's made up of some starkid members, including joey richter)
i'm also a really big fan of "lizzie the musical;" i actually made a post hyping it up a while back; it's a rock horror lesbian musical. need i say any more?
now, this isn't really a new musical rec, cause since you said you've listened to almost 400 musicals i'm pretty sure you've heard of "into the woods," bUT lately i've been obssessed with the central park run they did and i'll talk about it for hours to anyone who gives me the chance. they did this shakespeare in the park kind of thing? in which the show is actually put on in the middle of the woods. the lady who plays the witch? my favorite witch up to date; donna murphy was actually the same person who voiced mother gothel in "tangled," which is basically the same role, right? further proving my point that she was born for this part. its so much creepier than any other production, not only because of visual elements but some details they added into some of the characters' representations and detail on the actual story. i do have to warn you tho, that they did not take the wolf's song to little red as a "subtle" reference to being a sexual predator, it's actually pretty explicit, so watch out if you've got any SA triggers. some other details include that amy adams (yes, giselle from "enchanted") plays the baker's wife, jessie mueller (yes, jenna from "waitress") plays cinderella and chip zien (yes, the baker from the original 1987 production of "into the woods") plays the mysterious man. it's so good. please watch it.

A little review for Diabolik Lovers Lost Eden Drama CD vol. 1:
To be honest, I never interested into hear the drama CD of lost eden, but I'm curious enough so I give it a try...
First of all, looks like the drama CD was a mix between Ayato's route and Reiji's route?? (I don't know. Call me biased but around 80/90% was like that if I say)
So the story plot was about makai got unbalanced with Karl's disappearance, Ayato got Karl's power just like in his route, and then there's a report from tsukaima that their uncle Richter died because he was killed by someone from Reiji's route, and it's end up with Ayato couldn't take anymore of the burden and other's expectation and made the powers out of control while the other brothers ran away from him by dragging Yui with them (I laughed because the vol 1 just ended like that)
Personal comment:
Well... I should say I'm disappointed with this drama CD because I thought rejet will make a plot where none of the brothers inherited Karlheinz's power. But with this plot, it's confirmed that the one who actually inherit the power was Ayato, and I was like... isn't this a bit unfair to the other boys? I read another review from someone else's blog about the vol 1 too, and it said that the other boys were happy that they didn't get the power.
Well maybe it's a YES for Shuu, Kanato, Raito, and Subaru. But maybe it's a NO for Reiji, since we knew that Reiji really loves Karl and always looked up to him and wanted to be like him. Seeing Ayato inherited Karl's power maybe was like rubbing salt on the wound area (?) for him.
Then it makes Kino's words to Reiji in Ayato's route have a deep meaning to me...
Tumblr media
Kino: "But, why Karlheinz gave his power to Ayato and not you huh..."
I didn't screenshoted the first line but before he said this, he said to Reiji that Reiji was cool-headed, clever and organized? He was like interpreted that Reiji was more suitable as vampire's king rather than Ayato. Then Kino said this words, and yeah vice versa.
I remember too that in Ayato's route maniac epilogue where Yui visited Reiji and begging to him to give Ayato one more chance and Reiji rejected it. He then said something like:
"You said Ayato was lonely? Then you should know that we're lonelier because none of us got loved by father" (oof personal attack)
"and on top of that he got you as Eve on his side, and you still say that Ayato was lonely? How greedy..." (Reiji... 😭)
I can tell the jealousy in Reiji just by this words... poor Reiji.
Ayato and Reiji were my faves in Dialovers series, and seeing this scene was kind of hurtful to me. I knew Ayato was the main lead character of the series, but rejet... bro, dude, please give me a break. I really loves Ayato and Reiji interaction in the game. Everytime I see Ayato's route, there's Reiji in it, then as I see Reiji's route, there's Ayato in it. I wonder why rejet still didn't make the versus drama CD between Ayato and Reiji despite their rivalry was kind of strong too lol. But yeah rejet thanks for the angst anyway 🙃
So yeah long story short, I'm disappointed with the drama CD. Disappointed but not surprised 😕
