You know that feeling when you ask someone for help deciding between 2 or 3 options, but when they pick one it just makes you realize you knew which one you wanted all along? And it’s not the one they picked?

wrote up a little tarot spread tonight and then tested it on myself, with these crystals in attendance:

a spread to celebrate that xmas is done, whew. with the this might hurt tarot deck and crystal friends who demanded to attend:

1. knight of cups (unknown). wild romantic dreams should come to an end, is what immediately comes to me, though that is the hallmark of an aphrodisian devotee. so i cannot and will not give up on them. let’s look deeper. yes. so i am the knight in this situation, dripping with desire and zeal to achieve pure sweet reciprocal love, and it is such that i am definitely ignoring other aspects of my life. that is what i must throw away. my focus can and must be split over all things that are important, not just this one thing. widen awareness and remember that a person has multitudinous aspects to balance. that goes both ways.

2. six of cups (blue aventurine). that which was, swelling in prominence during these torrid holidays, are to be kept as if gifted from my favorite person. that is well enough, what i received were spiritual gifts, anyway, and glisten as i find places for them amongst my other things. memories of my past sustain me more than they should, in all probability. but during my short hiatus from work, i will make the sincere effort to engage in play and fun and all that makes me smile. i need the break, i need the investment of such gentle simple therapies.

3. knight of wands (dalmatian stone). the fire in our darkness. she is encouraging me to really for real get into some serious projects and push them to completion in this time i have away from my work, but that i should create a plan for it first, so as to keep it on track. that’s the structure in my ruling planet, saturn, that i constantly buck against and refuse. but you cannot refuse the reaper. so i should plan out exactly what i want to do for these days off so that they do not burn up in the knight’s flaming intention.

This Might Hurt Tarot deck review

From the moment I opened the box I could feel the beautiful energy of the deck, so much joy and light, I was rendered speechless. The brilliant creator is Isabella Rotman, a cartoonist and illustrator from the U. S.

Reading her bio on the deck's website, I loved how she says that she created the deck because she was learning tarot and drawing is her way to learn, this resonated so much with me, the desire to create it because you need it in your own language and then, the hope to be able to help others understand it as well by publishing it. Amazing.

This Might Hurt Tarot is a RWS based deck with a modern twist visible in clothing, scenery and the appearance of more diverse characters with a wider range of age, skin color, body types and more. I'm also quite happy on how Queerness is so loving and effortlessly expressed.

There are the 78 standard cards and an extra card was created for the Liminal 11 version of the deck called "This might hurt/ This might help" which is of great help when asking for clarification on a reading.

The card illustrations are stunning, bright colors and beautiful shading that gives them a feel of captures of a moment rather than just a still drawing.

I've been using them for over a week now and they shuffle quite smoothly, the images on the cards are very readeable in the sense that anyone without any knowledge of the tarot can understand the message of the card, the expression a picture is worth 1000 words is quite true in this deck.

My favourite cards are the knights, I feel like the perfect way to modernize the symbology of the knight is with riders, in medieval times the knights were the ones fighting in the wars and in this day and age, where the wars are mostly fought in our minds agains outdated structures that suffocate our souls, the riders are out there challenging our limiting beliefs and encouraging us to seek the freedom to live our truth.

I recommend this deck to everyone in all tarot levels, with great clarity of the symbolic language the This Might Hurt Tarot deck will help you go deeper into the layers of yourself until you're faced with your higher truth.
