Boone was the last person to see Riley before he disappeared to the Sierra Madre, and the first person to see him return. He shows up late into Boone’s shift a few hours before sunrise in the worst condition and completely shaken. Needless to say, the dude’s had a HORRIBLE week.

I enjoy the implication in Origins that Zevran isn't a very good fighter when we meet him and then after Origins he was utterly terrorizing the Crows. All the levels he gained in the Warden's party actually made him a canonically, significantly more dangerous fighter than he was when the Warden met him.

#the game does do a fun job of justifying why the companions are - while much more capable than the average peasant - low level at first #Alistair has only been a Warden like 6 months and didn't finish Templar training before that #Morrigan has powerful magic but has been isolated in the wilds with her much more powerful mother to take care of things #Sten is a trained warrior but he was nearly killed. still managed to murder a family. then spent 20-30 days in a cage with no food or water #Leliana is a skilled Bard but she could either be rusty from hiding out in a cloister for a while or hiding some of her skills #Wynne is a senior enchanter and by the time you can actually recruit her you're probably at least like lvl 6 or 7 #so she's no pushover when you actually see her do stuff. and could be even stronger if she didn't just recover from dying #Oghren is usually prooobably the last recruited bc Orzammar is meant to bounce low level players off and send them elsewhere #he is the companion most likely to be met at higher levels so it makes sense that he's an ass-kickin warrior when you meet him #though again he might be a little weaker if you came earlier and the fact that he's been banned for a while from fighting #and has instead just been sitting around getting wasted accounts for that #radio chatter

Small ramble about my art

#I really feel like I've stagnated again and I'm pretty displeased by how I draw at the current moment.#I really hope to just sort of evaluate what I don't like #so i can go in and make some changes #its what ive always done in the past but its just sort of a pain #i couldn't be happier to have the drive to draw again #its been a while since its been this strong #but goodness its hard to push through and actually make something #ive started a bunch of drawings but cant commit to finishing them bc im just in a place where i cant capture the vibes or delicacies ect #I'll get to it though and get back to drawing #just means i might go through some style and process experimentation again #im not really down on myself or being overly critical #just sorta taking a good look at how i keep feeling about my art rn and #realizing its time to start trying to climb the mountain of improvement again #not that i ever fully stopped #but moreso i need to make a conscious effort about things #mini ramble over #i dont expect anyone to read this #bapple rambles

The ears are definitely the part of the head that I've been dreading the most, because I've always struggled to make them work. I was never 100% satisfied with the ear results on past heads, so this time I'm trying a different method. It's based on TinnatuPaws's ear patterns, not actually printing and using any of them directly because I wanted that front border to have a slightly different shape, but taking the general method/idea. Took a couple hours to put together a working pattern because I only had a vague idea of what I was doing, and I guess the final look is pretty similar to TinnatuPaws's canine ear design anyways so perhaps it would've been easier to just use that one directly but w/e too late now. I think it turned out pretty alright, but of course the real test will come once I actually put fur on it.

These ears also probably look a tad on the large side for a standard housecat--that was intentional; I'm a bit worried about this head base being a bit too small compared to the other parts of the suit so I'm gonna try compensating by exaggerating the ears, head floof, and cheek floofs a bit. This base already has proportionally very large eyes so I think I can get away with it. Fingers crossed!

I did try on my previous head with the new body the other day to get a better idea of the size ratio and it looked alright, though while the base for my previous head is similar in size to this new one, I do think it might be sliiiiiightly larger overall, even accounting for the fact that it has fur and this one doesn't yet. Hopefully the difference won't be all that significant and I won't be walking around with a comically tiny head, but as with the ear method, the real test won't be till I actually fur it. So....we shall see.

#gonna take a break for a bit as soon as i finish assembling the other ear #but gonna come back later tonight and see if i can't at least get the pattern for the inside lining done #that way i'll be able to sew and install that tomorrow #and then come Saturday i'll be able to start on the exciting part: fur #also though while i'm gonna finish assembling the ears today i don't think i'm gonna actually attach them to the base just yet #i think it might be a bit easier to just mark where they go on the base #then fur them separately #and THEN glue/sew them onto everything else #well....one way to find out #.......also gonna tidy up a bit in here i think. it's a disaster rn #and yeah a mess is expected/inevitable when working on a project like this #and a total cleanup is pretty pointless until the project is done cuz it's just gonna get messy again fast #especially if imma be working with fur fabric #but living in disaster zone for weeks can zap morale a bit 😅#not that i'm the tidiest person in the world by any stretch of the imagination but #there are limits 😅

All right it is DONE!! I FINISHED IT! TWELVE KIDS LATER and the reference sheet for my next gen characters is DONE!!

Behold, the children of Ant, Fontaine, Finn, and Madeline, though none of you know who belongs to who! This is done in order of overall oldest to youngest. A brief reminder: Valerie, Jackson, Kai, Zoey, and Avery are Nektons, and Jason, Tim, Riley, Sammy, Davy, Charlotte, and Allan are all ‘pirates’. The Nekton kids all have the same last name, though I didn’t add that in. Kari took Ant’s last name and Nate took Fontaine’s because not only did he know how much the name meant to her, but he also thought Nekton sounded better with his name than ‘Clark’ did.

the neurodivergent way i'm counting the hours until my 3 days weekend starts in 9 hours, looking forward to spending those 3 days not talking to anyone or leaving my house at all, in part because i treated myself with a 1000 pieces puzzle and i intend on indulging

#i do need to do my grocery shopping #but i'll do it tomorrow morning at 9am then i'll get back in my pjs and refuse to talk to anyone until tuesday #i am running on fume and this week has been SO people heavy #'nice people' heavy but still heavy #i've also had to take busy public transportation every day this week and my body is screeching at me #9 hours i can do this #i'm two hours away from finishing the new hunger games audiobook #absolutely planning on doing that puzzle while listening to the trilogy again #there might be some writing happening this weekend but it's not a priority for my mental health at the moment #school work needs to be a bit of a priority though deadlines are closing in 😭

#I got halfway through Authority and it's honestly pretty baller. I think the protagonist will connect less with most people but #It still has that juicy juicy deranged Annihilation flavor. Oh your family was fucked up and that's why you can understand The Horrors #I want to carry the author over the threshold bridal style or something.#Also I got halfway through 'Foundations' which was written by a physicist noble prize winner with grossly inflated sense of ego who #was trying to make a religion out of Abductive Reasoning while barely knowing how Abductive Reasoning works. All his social takes #were fascinatingly bad (not wrong to be clear; just bad examples no solid logic) and he also clearly gave the halflife of C14 #and proceeded to say that we used it for figuring out Neanderthals were in Europe a few hundred thousand years ago.#I swear to god physicists should have emotional support geologists they can consult on the phone whenever they're feeling #a bit spicy about psychology and philosophy and it would save the world half a dozen bad takes.#His physics and 'layman' outline of how the physical world works though was really good. I quite liked that though. I would've #finished the book except it's my brother's and it's not good enough I would steal it. but jokes aside, really self-indulgent comic bc both Security Breach and Ruin came out when i was at a low point mentally and helped me greatly just be able to move forward and get through each day (and i won't even be getting into how much these 2 fictional robot jesters have helped me refind my passion for drawing)
