There was a lot more technicalities to her film studies than she’d initially realized when applying for the program. Along civilizations names and dates and art styles, Elli overlooked how complex some of the analytical lenses could get. Thus, she planned to supplement her lectures with film theory from the library. All of those plans went out the window when she spotted Ruby checking out at one of the kiosks. In a split decision, she decided to intercept the girl headed toward the exit, all smiles and smugness as she approached. “Good afternoon,” she cheered, like bothering Ruby was an accomplishment of hers. “What do you have there?” Elli inquired of the books in her hand, quick to divert conversation away from what she was doing in approaching Ruby.

Weiss had burst through the doors of V-2 without invitation and immediately pointed a finger at the familiar, black-haired girl that was minding her own business within. How typical of her to do something like leave the door unlocked. Poking around to find Ruby after knowing both Yang and Blake were in the city had been much easier than she’d expected.

This could have been a touching reunion, but Weiss had something important to do. She had to assert to Ruby that she was the same person. “Get your things, Ruby. You’re coming with ME.”
