Actually, I used simple cotton yarns, which I got from a cheap crafts and hobbies shop. But I'm sure you can buy yarns from any paper stationery shop only for a little more money. I took a photo of the label of the thread, maybe it helps you to know what type to buy.

The needle I used has a big hole for the thick threads, and it is long, to make the weaving easier. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a professional description since I don't know the details. (And I'm still not an expert in this topic)

I hope I helped a little.

Here is my newest finished sewing/weaving/patching projekt.

This cloth had a quite big hole, so instead of just sewing it together I weaved some extra textil into it. This patching method gave the cloth some character, color and of course texture to it.

I used four cotton yarns, one turquoise and dark cyan blue, a pastel pink and brown.

I had a lot of fun making it, and I'm glad I don't have to throw out a nice fabric while practicing my hobby.
