It wasn’t the elaborately planned dates or the freshly-cooked meal awaiting him every evening. It wasn’t the French brunches or the immaculate decoration of their home.

No. It was the way they’d spontaneously dance in the rain, the way they'd crash together - sparks flying - that made him fall in love.

“Face each other.”

A pale hand grasped a reasonably springy hawthorn wand. A russet brown hand caressed a newly repaired holly wand.

“Bow.”

Heads of white blond and messy black inclined.

“Begin.”

Wands were raised but lowered just as quickly. Three large strides towards one another and lips met instead.
