BRAVERY. The definition of the term is straightforward. To not be deterred by danger or pain. Ian Chesterton has been undeterred by pain and danger many times in his life, even when he was a small boy he had even rushed to climb trees despite the fear of falling. He had stood and listened in London streets as the sound of air raid sirens filled him with dread, but that didn’t stop him from banging on the door of his elderly neighbour to make sure she got to the closest shelter. That’s not even mentioning all those times up in space or time with the Doctor. BRAVERY was just something that Ian had often taken for granted, part of his DNA, something that he had always been able to have to hand. Until today. UNTIL THIS VERY MOMENT he was suddenly aware of the tingling in his fingers, how dry his mouth had become as she stood before him with a brighter smile than the starlight that graced them with their presence.   Why was he scared? There was nothing to be scared of in reality --- in front of him stood the most remarkable woman in the entire universe and all he could think was --- what if she said no.  Barbara wasn’t going to say no, but the WHAT IF still remains. 

They’d been walking arm and arm past Trafalgar Square when he’d suddenly seem to pause to admire the statues. This time just a few months ago, they had rushed here hand in hand to enjoy fooling around amongst the cobbles and celebrate their return home. Today, it was going to stick in his memory for an entirely different reason. The ex-science teacher paused a moment as if observing something obscure before finally, he moved onto one knee staring up her. His hand fumbling through his inner pocket.

“I’ve been carrying this around with me for two weeks and I thought, I didn’t want to waste the opportunity after such a splendid evening.”

Well - lemme tell ya, Barbara - that roleplaying with the twelth doctor?? lotta angst, and there will no doubt be more. I love the relationship between the Doc and Bill and I just?? *grabby hands* (the writing is also perfect) The threads are always so much fun and the replies are always so much fun to read honestly ! !

As for my boy, Ian, I haven’t had the chance to roleplay with them just yet but I stalk the threads they have with you and cry?? they’re...so sweet?? and soft?? and the dialogue so very Ian? I am in awe.

And the mun, Sophie!! What. A. Cutie. 

We’ve talked a few times and I’d love to talk more because they’re so sweet and nice?? hi yes Soph ilu !!

IT WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING. Hand in hand, Ian and Barbara stood at the console of the Dalek’s time machine. Fierce and final hugs from Vicki, and a stiffer but meaningful pat on the shoulder from the Doctor and here they both stood. They had their instructions. All they had to do now was to press the lever in front of them.  You will both have about a fifty-fifty chance. That’s what the Doctor had said before they entered. His hand shakes a little as he looked hungrily at the button in front of them.  “Are you sure you want to do this?” The Doctor didn’t know Dalek Technology that well. It could blow them up, they could get sent into a world worse than travelling with the Doctor, they could even get separated.... His hand moves to take both of hers so they stand in front of each other as the machine hums impatiently behind them. “We ––– we have no idea what will happen if we press this button, Barbara....” ....The only thing they knew for sure was this was their only chance of getting him now.

Nickname: Maniac, as mentioned before, but (if you’re uncomfortable with that one) I’ve also had Egypt, Megatron, Jori, and Luke among others. Though if you want to call me by my URL or some variation of Yates-mun, I’m perfectly happy with that.

Sign: Cancer (though I don’t really hold stock in that kind of stuff nor do I really fit that sign’s description. I ain’t that touchy-feely emotional.)

Height: 5′6″ ish?

Nationality: American (The Colorado bit... So... Western?)

Orientation: Asexual. Panromantic though.

Favorite Fruit: Pomegranates. They’re so much fun to eat! And delicious too.

Favorite Season: Summer. I don’t like being cold.

Favorite Flower: Irises and columbines.

Favorite Scent: Hard to say. I’m not really partial to smell but maybe... A nice, warm chai tea? And books. Books smell great.

Favorite Book: Can I say Fullmetal Alchemist? I’d like to go with Fullmetal Alchemist please. Otherwise... Catch-22 maybe? What about the US Constitution? Pocket constitutions are great. They’re the best.

Favorite Color: Red or neon eye-bleeding green.

Favorite Animal: The platypus. Though the mantis shrimp is pretty cool too. Squid are delicious though.

Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate: Tea! I don’t drink coffee, and hot chocolate can be too sweet (or taste too much like coffee). There are just so many teas with their own flavor, texture, and nuance that the others pale in comparison to me.

Average Hours of Sleep: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve always been terrible at sleeping well or keeping track of that kind of stuff. I can run perfectly fine on 3 hours of sleep, but I have slept for over 12 hours before too. Maybe around 5 hours? Hard to say.

Cats or Dogs: Dogs. I’m allergic to cats.

Number of Blankets You Sleep With: Depends on the season, of course, but always at least 1.

Dream Trip: Can I go back in time please? I’d like to go to the Pan-American Expedition in Buffalo please. Or Ancient Rome. Or Meiji Japan. Kinda anywhere during the Gilded Age in America would be cool too. i would also love to see Revolutionary America too. Though seriously, I would just love to travel Europe and some parts of Asia with a group of friends. Namely I’d like to visit Japan, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy (especially Rome), Greece, Russia, Poland, all of the Nordic countries, Egypt, and probably Israel. There are a few locations I’d like to see in each of those, but mostly I would want a good group of friends to go traveling with as I don’t like exploring alone.

She’s joking with him, such is their relationship. But, instantly after speaking Barbara instantly regretting her silly manner, because of the sincere look on Ian’s face.

“But I would love to. Despite the fact that I know you have two left feet,” she teased, elbowing him in the chest. Really, it's more like a friendly nudge.

“Two left feet? Nonsense! I’m a great dancer. In training.” He laughs, covering the way she had completely disregarded his rather serious question but glad for her smiling in his direction. Their most recent adventure still hung over them like a cloud. HOME was a word chanted and couldn’t be reached no matter how badly they tried.  And yet sometimes, he felt like the children on Neverland, slowly starting to forget what home was really like. Perhaps, The Doctor was their version of Peter Pan.  “But when we do get home, I’m game for it if you are.” He purposely left out the word date, even for someone as brave as Ian Chesterton the idea of being rejected by his best friend was something he didn’t know he could stand.
