Dreaming about The Bear being led by Sydney Adamu as EC and Tina Marrero as CDC and just smiled the widest, biggest smile.
Bc what do you mean a regime led by an upper middle class, straight white man descended from Italian immigrants who hoarded power and made unilateral decisions that psychologically fucked everyone working under him, will be replaced next season by a team:
led by Black and Boricua women descendants of immigrants who care deeply about their families and peers, are concerned about the restaurant industry’s wasteful practices and want to assist farmers struggling during global climate disaster?
with FOH run by a class-conscious white descendant of Polish immigrants who is concerned about accessibility?
with Operations run by a canonically bisexual white woman descendant of Italian immigrants who will murder anyone who threatens her team?
with an almost-canonically bisexual Black star pastry chef who just earned the restaurant its first award?
that will have two white men who used to dominate the industry back in supporting roles, using their acquired power and privilege as allies (while one of them finally admits his love for The Bear's new EC)?
aaaaand that will have a Black Somali immigrant survivor of multiple invasions of Africa and the Middle East by American empire, save everyone because of his persistence in creating opportunity?
In this economy? With the present fascist, anti-immigrant American regime? In a time of rampant incel, QAnon, 4chan, Snydercut, Reddit motherfuckery?
YES PLEASE.

Carmy haters fail to realize that the entire team at The Bear would not be who they are now without him.
Carmy was the reason Marcus was able to go to Copenhagen to become a better pastry chef.
Carmy was the reason Richie went to Ever to learn the magic it takes to become the great FOH he is now, and train the rest them.
Carmy sent both Ebra and Tina to culinary school and Ebra still had a place at The Bear when he didn't complete.
Carmy is the reason Sweeps was elevated in a role and sent to sommelier training.
Carmy encourgaged Sugar to run the business side of The Bear, when she didn't think she could do it.
Carmy is the reason Sydney was able to slow down and perfect her recipes, because she was always trying to show them before they were ready.
Tell me you have never worked in food service and/or grew up in a toxic household without telling me. Everyone bitches and moans about wanting more complex characters. Yet when we are given then, you HATE them, loathe them unreasonably.
Carmy isn't my favorite, Neil is, but I empathize so strongly with Carmy. For the reasons above. When chaos is all you have known, it takes years and intention to unlearn it.

Season 5 !!
thought I’d make a list of things I want/predict to happen in the next season <3
michelin star! this might be the last season and I need them to have the treat of getting that star for all the right reasons and as a family (while carmy is still there).
leaning into sydcarmy’s friendship. I need them to hang outside of the restaurant. I need sydney to be more verbal about what carmy means to her, and why she wants to work with him in the first place. I need them to HUG. I want sydney to rest her head on his shoulder after a long day at the restaurant.
carmy and emmanuel meetup that would be a fun way to parallel the sydney/donna conversation, and also would be proof of sydney letting her walls down by finally letting him into her personal life.
carmy indulging in interests and creative outlets outside of cooking to heal the artist part of himself.
sydney having FUN. idc if it’s with her cousins or friends or going on a date. I need her to have some of that work/life balance.
marcus and richie to have fulfilling conclusions to their character arcs.
tina receiving outside acknowledgment for her skills, maybe in a review. I need her to know how amazing she is now.
more natalie content. I want to know where she is when it comes to her feelings about motherhood and her job at the bear. maybe have sydney hold sophie, I know it would be very awkward and cute.
PETE to stand up for himself. i will not stand for any more slander of my good man. would be nice if carmy takes his side too, “sugar’s boyfriend (pete?)” is crazy work & needs to be redeemed.
more sydrichie best friendism and them running the restaurant now as equals in the game.
jessrichie date. eva meeting jess?
the beef franchise led by ebra. I wanna see that actually go somewhere and for ebra to be proud of himself. also how do we not know his last name yet?
this is just while season 4 is still fresh in mind. might add to it later now that all we have is time.

New poster and series description for season 4 of The Bear. Dropping June 25th.
Table's Set, Clock is Ticking.
Season four of FX's The Bear finds Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard "Richie" Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome.
This season, the pursuit of excellence isn't just about getting better - it's about deciding what's worth holding on to.
The half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles.

How The Bear cast would react if a dinosaur was in the kitchen one day:
(inspired by the Jurrassic World ad on Hulu inspired by the show)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy
Stares at it silently, for a good ten seconds.
Immediately tries to rationalize it. “Is this, like, a... a new delivery guy? Is this a mascot? What the f*** is happening?”
Trying to cook around it. Has a panic attack but internalizes it so hard he starts sweating through his apron.
"Corner. Hands. Uh, talon. Cool."
Tumblr media
Richie
"NOPE. NOPE. F*** THIS. I'M OUT."
Comes back five minutes later with a baseball bat and a bucket of chicken nuggets.
“I saw this on YouTube once.”
Starts trying to bond with the dinosaur: "Yo, this thing's kinda like you, Carm."
Calls it "Little Cousin."
Tumblr media
Sydney
Freezes. Mouth slightly open. Processing.
Starts Googling “how to assert dominance over a dinosaur.”
Eventually just shouts “BEHIND!” and tries to keep expediting anyway while visibly vibrating with fear.
Tells Carmy: "If this is one of your avant-garde pop-ups, I swear to God."
Tumblr media
Marcus
Genuinely curious. “Yo, what do they eat?”
Tries to feed it a brioche bun. “You think it’s gluten-free?”
Pulls out his sketchbook mid-chaos and starts drawing it because of course he does.
At one point calmly says, "Yo, Sydney, imagine a dinosaur-shaped chocolate shell with a blood orange reduction inside. Jurassic bite, right?"
Tries to name it. Settles on “Bruno.”
Tumblr media
Natalie “Sugar”
Absolutely DONE.
“Nope. Not today.”
Threatens to call animal control or a priest.
The only one actively trying to get it OUT of the kitchen while everyone else is somehow adapting.
Tumblr media
Ebraheim
Honestly? Not surprised.
“I have seen worse.”
Calmly continues prepping mise en place, muttering stories about when he saw a cobra in a market stall in Tripoli.
At one point, he swats the raptor with a dish towel like it’s just another line cook getting too close.
"If it sheds, it cleans."
Tumblr media
Fak (Neil)
Overjoyed.
“DUDE. IS THIS OUR PET NOW? WE HAVE A RESTAURANT DINO!"
Has already posted five Instagram stories with it: “#TheBeefRaptor”
Tries to high-five it. Somehow survives.
“It’s chill. I grew up around iguanas.”
Offers to build it a meat freezer to sleep in and names it “Chef Rex.”
Tumblr media
Tina
Walks in, spots the dinosaur, squints at it like it’s a health code violation.
“Jeff, what are we doing?"
Refuses to be scared. This woman fought for her place on that line and a dinosaur isn’t gonna take it from her.
Stares it down, slowly puts on her apron like she’s preparing for war.
“If it bites, I bite back.”
At one point yells at it in Spanish to get out of her station — and it listens.
Teaches it how to chiffonade by accident. “We’ve had worse interns.”

"Season three is even stranger and more kind of joyful and anxiety-ridden and beautiful."
I accept this as Jeremy is giving a clue for season 3. We know where Carmy stands with joy. He was trying to find what was fun for him in season 2.
And no- this opportunity for fun- joyfulness doesn't mean a chance to insert Claire here (we tried it already!). Carmy's dark moment of defeat - where he realized he can't have any fun or joy came from failing Sydney and providing for her is where his happiness stems from - he just doesn't know it yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy is on to something; what fun could be for him is a relationship and I think even Jeremy has been hinting at that- in a season 1 interview, Jeremy talks about Carmy's character standing out due to his loneliness and in a season 2 interview he talks about the show's theme of connection. That's where the joyfulness for season 3 comes from- connection. Not with Claire but with Sydney. In season 3, the exploration of what is fun for Carmy will continue, and the fun aspect will be explored through a partnership agreement. Sydney is the person Carmy needs to be ready to experience good things with. The teaser is fooling us as Carmy is begrudgingly getting that star- that good thing Sydney now Carmy is pushing for will have Carmy finding and accepting the thing in his life- the good thing.

The Bear Season 5 Renewal!!

The Hot Take Machine is up and Running
Back in I believe february someone made a poll asking if the Bear was a white show or not because the majority of the main cast is not white.
Here's the post I wrote essentially breaking down what made it a white show. And after Watching season 3 I feel like what I said is reinforced.
@currymanganese
What is any poc on the shows ethnicity besides Ebra?
We know the berzattos are italian, richie and jimmy are polish, the faks are faks, and we get a bit even if just from richie of them speaking other languages. What is Tina's ethnicity? Beyond sounding like a ny-er. Is Marcus Carribean? He's catholic, or his mom was? Just learned what league Gary played in via a Fak. Do Manny and Angel have last names? if we didn't know anything abt that yt characters ethnicities and cultures, I wouldn't care. But We Do lol. So there.
I didn't even know yt ppl could have this many fictive kin and play cousins, where is anyone else's immediate or extended family and background?
We know Marcus has a younger brother, was that just shared to fill in a larger motif around sibling relationships? I know there is an ongoing theme around going it alone (Donna through child birth, Marcus's mom, Syd's dad, and Richie being alone as a father) so it will echo through diff characters. But black and brown ppl of most ethnicities not having anybody to turn to at all? Not knowing a guy with a job? Not making any meaningful connections until they get to the beef? We know the name of Richie's grandma and his daughter calls Donna auntie DD. But none of the black or brown ppl have grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins.
I know the berzatto family can be like the island of misfit toys but like I do suspend my disbelief because of this lol.
Look at how Syd & Tina are being treated.
I know how the people being booted from the 4 top looked A Way™, but I think its highlighting that outside of Berzatto land, Syd is getting treated in a very wild way. Like ships are cool but I literally only started this show for Syd & Tina and they are used as introspection tools for the Berzatto brothers, or to reassure one. We know they have people that love them and why they are at the beef/bear. But my opinion stands, this is a white show about a large dysfunctional family that happens to have black people in it.
I honestly think the poc not neatly gelling and the extensive Berzatto-Fak-Jerimovich-Kalinowski & Co outset being insular is okay because who wants to be tied up in that? and we see Sydney weighing if she wants to be connected to or apart of it that we don't see any other berzatto +1 get to decide. Because it is warm when it's warm. But it is demoralizing dismissive and defeating when not. And her former hero sometimes is the initiator or amplifier of Syd being treated that way.

A lesson from 2x04 Honeydew across the seasons
Luca: I think at a certain stage it becomes less about skill and its more about being open.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marcus: Open?
Luca: Yeah. To the world,

to yourself,

to other people.

You know, most of the incredible things that I've eaten haven't been because the skill level is exceptionally high or there's loads of mad fancy techniques. Its because its been really inspired, you know.

You can spend all the time in the world in here, but if you don't spend enough time out there...you know?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marcus: Right.
Luca: It helps to have good people around you, too.

my adrenaline has gone down finally so i feel i can give my thoughts on this season
no more faks! no more! please!
i think the series is taking inspiration from different art movements and genres. season one - surrealism?, season two - modernism?, season three - baroque? im not well versed on this stuff but i definitely noticed they use different forms of art to make the seasons feel different from one another
piggybacking off the earlier bulletin; i think thats also why this season feels like all flash and no substance. whatever movement or era they decided to do with season three is very ou la la oui oui i zam an artist bonjour /nm its very different from the movements they went with in the past seasons. this one feels serious and fancy smancy
i still think they’re going to go through with sydcarmy and this season just solidifies it. syd and carmy are severly mentally ill with issues they need to work out. they dont handle stress and expectations well if at all.
i think some of the things being said by the characters are being taken at face value specifically carmy calling claire peace. i dont think the writers are writing claire to be a source of peace for carmy; hes just so in denial and confused about his emotions he knows he supposed to feel peace from claire but cant figure out why he doesnt
i missed marcus sweeps and tina in this season so much. and syd! i was excited for sweeps to go to wine school only for it to be a one off thing. the tina episode was good but thats the only thing i can think of from the top of my head that she stood out in. marcus’ mom died? but it feels like she didnt die at all? like the weight of his moms death isnt being felt in his character and that made me really sad. i wanted a little more with syd and marcus with their moms :/
im not angry at carmy somehow? i just feel this deep sadness because he is so unlike himself. my initial frustrations with the season made it hard for me to look at his character. now that ive calmed down, he just makes me sad. like thinking about him makes me feel like a wet sausage dude he needs serious help and im scared he’s gonna do something very bad in this next season/part
i was really hoping there would be more parallels between new york carmy and current syd. they might explore it in season 4 and i really hope they do!
where tf was everyone else in the emergency room and why was it the two faks. there is no dissection in the world that will make me okay with those losers being there im sawry
syd being the first person sugar called and claire being the last mhm yup 🙂‍↕️
a good chunk of claire and carmys scenes being muted or cool colors once again!
RICHIE AND HIS DAUGHTER AA!! i wish they had an entire episode dedicated to them theyre so cute!
theres something to be said about loneliness and isolation this season? again i would need to rewatch the season. something something carmy pushing syd away something something nat fearing giving birth because of her mom something something syd having a breakdown and isolating herself from the rest of the fam something something
pete ❤️
chris you have reached ur limit on white male characters enough is enough theres NO MORE ROOM
ngl i actually liked seeing john cena on my screen yall pls
why are we so close to everyones face i zont like zat at all
i thought they were going to bring louis back and got so excited!!! BRING BACK LOUIS
they wrap up the claire storyline by season 4 or part three?? whatever theyre doing idk
LUCA!!!!!!
as much one sided beef i have with jlc she delivered i crode very hard
backseating the characters of color is very lame and bogus! i hated it! what happened to tinas friends she met at school? does ebra not have family? syd and her dad? marcus and his roommate? so many characters they could introduce from sydney marcus tina ebra fuck even angel and manny but they insist on introducing characters that have ties to the berzattos. i hate it! i really do!
syds apartment? where did you go fren….
i wish they were more artsy fartsy with carmys internal struggles give me cringe film student vibes please ill take anything
FUCK CICERO he didnt do anything but PISS ME OFF >:(
why didnt they have syd work out the economics (or whatever tf that computer dude did do). didnt she do something like that in season one? i guess since cicero called him it makes sense
richie and nat are so adorable i love them!!!!
overall pretty mediocre season. it was okay for a show like the bear. i don’t agree with having an entire season dedicated to build up! or atleast in the way they’ve done it in season 3. season 1 was a prologue for the entire show yet it still felt like a complete season. alot of the things that went down in season three either could’ve been compressed into a shorter span of time or they could’ve gotten more episodes (as if its that easy lol but the pacing wouldn’t have suffered as much if the season was longer). um decent season? i dont hate it! i dont love it either. like i said it feels soulless and maybe thats the intention? idk man 😔
i will most definitely be seated for season four TRUST

Episode Names and Descriptions of The Bear S3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Napkins” has no description and i think this is the flashback episode.
episode 10 was in a different pic but had no description. it’s called “Forever”. which is ominous.

I've just had the idea that the reason why we didn't see a lot of characters interact at lot in season 3 is because, contextually in the show, they don't have time to interact and we're seeing the show through their eyes. Of course we're not going to have a lot of scenes between Richie and Tina, or Marcus, or Ebra because Tina, Marcus and Ebra are busy in the back of house either learning and creating new dishes, or running an entire service window by themselves.
Of course we're going to see Richie interacting more with Natalie and Neil, and the nameless front of house staff, because they're the people he's working with. We only see him really talk to Sydney and Carmen because they're running back of house (and he's usually shouting at Carmen).
It also goes to show the divide between front and back of house that Carmen's created. Sure, he's made the Bear a fine dining place, he's 'improved' it, but he's taken the soul out of it because everyone's too focused on their jobs to socialise. Their phones are locked away, they're learning new menus everyday and trying to sort out bookings, money, etc. We don't get a lot of interaction because that's what the characters are living.
I also feel like we don't see a lot outside of the restaurant because their lives have become the restaurant now. We saw Jimmy's house, Natalie's house, Sydney's house, we saw flashbacks and the street in season 1. We saw the Berzattos place, Richie's, Marcus', Carmen's, Ever, Copenhagen, the culinary school Tina goes to in season 2. But we don't see as much in season 3, at least that's how it feels to me, we see glimpses but only really spend full amounts of time away with Nat or Tina in their respective episodes.
The show feels drained and claustrophobic because that's the environment the characters are in. They're so stressed and overwhelmed that their lives have become the restaurant, and all the drama that entails
