My Egyptian revival necklace is complete. Really pleased with the prong/tin setting as it's all rustic and grungy like the concept inventor @fancifuldevices might approve of. Also really happy with how I've caged that raw amazonite into a strand. You can also see my hand made pottery pieces - scarab beetle, replicated carved bone bead and what I call the urchin bead all of which come from molds I made. Some salvaged goodies too in the form of the chain which I added Czech glass turquoise beads to, labradorite stones and a ceramic dangle with stoneware glaze. It's another funky side clasp design and the length is adjustable. This lovely lion is the last of my Laurel Burch tin. Anyone else remember her work all over everything in the 80s? Or was it 90s? Whenever, I remember really digging it as a teen. Looking back I now realize it was the bright palette and stylized illustrations with lots of reliance on pattern mixing. This recent listing has just sold but I wanted to share it with you anyway as it contains the final pieces of the vintage Marie Antoinette at Versailles tin. You can see the courtiers in the parlour playing cards and then dropping them at the entrance of the French Queen. I particularly love the details of the man with the monocle that sits at the end of the chain for a side connection. Double-sided vintage tin pendant that I've cold-soldered with rivets that also work as connection points for the necklace. There are lots of my handmade organic style ceramic beads decorating this piece and the colours tie in nicely to the tin. I've even used scraps of the tin to make bead cap ends for one of the pottery beads. Also in this necklace is a a multi faceted opaque emerald, amazonite bicone and faceted agate bead alongside two carved antique bone beads. It's all connected together with a salvaged chain from a broken necklace made up of tiny shiny brass discs. Started watching The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix last night. Absolutely loving it even though I have absolutely no clue as to what’s going on in the game footage. It’s good I can gloss over those parts and still enjoy it. For those who understand chess, I wonder if there is a narrative between the lines in the chess moves that I’m not getting. Like a mysterious secret message? That would be fun. It’s definitely been a good watch to relax to after working in the caravan all day making treasures and updating the shop. It’ll be our first socially distanced visit to the vets today and I’m slightly nervous. Jeanie also derailed Eva last night on our walk, as she picked up the scent of a rabbit and ploughed through Eva in order to chase it. So in a way it’s good timing as poor Eva is a little hobbly today. You’d never think they were 12 years old, the way they lark around like puppies sometimes. 🙄. I’ve had so much fun playing with the Huntley and Palmers biscuit tin, picking out the scenes, not a scrap has gone to waste. I even have some tiny studs made which I hope to list later. It can get a little abstract, when you’re trying to utilise every spare inch but in this teardrop piece, I see spring tulips on the bank of a river. It’s been a productive morning, having potted on my seedlings (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, cayenne and aubergine) and have dropped off the remaining seedlings I don’t need with my neighbour (socially distancing obvs). I have 45 plants now to raise and if half of them survive the transplanting, I’ll be pleased. I only wish I’d done more flowers. It’s definitely been a better day today. Woke nice and early without an alarm after a good night sleep. Steve and I hit the gym (in our garage). Good breakfast, good lunch, good dog walk. Plenty of sunshine outside. And I’m not getting too distracted by all the other things going on in the world.
