I went to a buffet today AGAIN after swimming and yall. I beat my personal record and I'm currently SO stuffed its insane. Also it was a spur of the moment decision to go so my hair was still wet from being in the water and I had no makeup and had really weird tan lines. but I just went in my (dried off) swimsuit and giant fuzzy jacket probably looking a lil odd but I'm becoming such a regular there that the usual person who greets/takes plates was like 😃🥰 HIII!! and that made me feel better ♡ She watched me finish like. literally 10 or so plates and sit there for well over an hour and reminded me to get ice cream and a donut on my way out lol

I regret how my guards might be too far away to throw themselves in front of me, and how kevlar vests are too conspicuous for me to wear under my style of suiting. Also, after all my years of using the Project Gutenberg etext of P&P, I only today noticed that one of the illustrations is of a scene we don't actually "see" in the book but that's hilarious to think about: Lady Catherine telling Darcy about Elizabeth's outrageous!!!! refusal of her demands. It's not my favorite style of art but I kind of love this one:

Lady Catherine's sheer indignation and Darcy's "..." response.

Lady Catherine's hat feathers, and the inevitable fur edge of her ... pelisse? I always forget my fashion terms. Also, that Darcy doesn't have his cane but Lady Catherine does.

Darcy's height and spindly legs (though I don't like the curls; I picture Darcy as one of those people with very straight, smooth, thick hair that refuses to hold a curl).

One of the few parts of Wickham's alleged backstory that I find purely comedic is his whole deal about how right before his father died, Darcy's father promised to provide for young Wickham, because he was just so grateful to Wickham's father as well as loving young Wickham so much.

—but in the letter, Darcy (without having heard Wickham's account in this case, beyond what Elizabeth threw at him in the rejection) mentions in passing that Wickham's father outlived his. His father did voluntarily recommend giving Wickham the living in his will, so Wickham isn't lying about that, but the whole dramatic deathbed promise thing is pure theatrics and Wickham's father didn't actually die until after the late Mr Darcy was already dead.

His own father did not long survive mine; and within half a year from these events Mr Wickham wrote to inform me that, having finally resolved against taking orders, he hoped I should not think it unreasonable for him to expect some more immediate pecuniary advantage...
