What is the best extra course for civil engineering? part-2 Needless to say, there's no end to learning. While in college, you can take as many electives you can manage along with your existing curriculum to explore Civil Engineering. It's indeed that wide and deep. Once you find the topics which interest you, you can dwell deeper into the subject. Some options, which you can explore more: 2. You can also choose to read about Infrastructure Finance, Project Finance, Construction Planning and Management. These are essentially different from the specialised courses and will provide you a new perspective to see the construction industry. 1. Specialized courses in Structures, Geotech, Hydraulics, Transportation etc. These would come handy if you are willing to go in Design. Eg. In structures, Design of Bridges, FEM, Offshore structures etc. are vast topics to explore. You can choose more of such applied courses, which will have direct application when you become a structural consultant may be. Such courses will drive your interest towards research in this field as well, which is the reason why these courses are mostly included in Masters instead of UG curriculum.
