There is no limit to our imagination. The diamond-shaped hotel on the Tengger Desert's south side commands its surroundings. It is turning an isolated expanse into an opulent destination that challenges the limits of luxury living. Its multi-faceted form carves a path through the desert winds, standing tall against the elements with a striking silhouette that artfully glitters as brilliantly as the sands. This project transforms what should be impossible into a triumph, showcasing that even the harshest environments can be a canvas for architectural brilliance. Which other remote or challenging locations could be reimagined with such audacious designs?

Future of Construction and Design Software Market: Innovations, Emerging Technologies
The global construction and design software market size is estimated to reach USD 19.12 billion by 2030, registering to grow at a CAGR of 10.4% from 2025 to 2030 according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. The growing demand for effective tool management and development of digital capabilities such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Building Information System (BIM) are the major drivers that are likely to create the need to adopt construction and design software across infrastructure and real estate industries. These digital capabilities help organizations automate, track, and manage budgets by managing construction projects and controlling costs across the operations. Thus, it allows organizations to increase profits and maximize efficiency by reducing risks and other issues. This is attributed to the rise in demand for construction and design software during the forecast period.

Construction And Design Software Market Report Highlights
The project management & scheduling segment accounted for the largest market share of over 18% in 2024. Construction projects are inherently complex, requiring the coordination and collaboration of multiple teams to stay on schedule and meet deadlines.
The on-premise segment accounted for the largest market share of over 54% in 2024. On-premise construction and design software refers to applications installed and run directly on an organization's internal servers and computers, offering clients complete ownership of the infrastructure.
The architects & builders segment accounted for the largest market share of over 38% in 2024. The rising demand for advanced design skills to maximize project potential, coupled with growing concerns over securing necessary approvals, is anticipated to drive segment growth.

BIM has witnessed an increased adoption owing to its various advantages over the existing tools, such as paper-based design and modeling. It facilitates the users to create an accurate, precise, and geometric virtual model with all the components and structures involved in the building. Furthermore, with the use of IoT in BIM, modeling and ordering processes can become simpler, and the required material can be sent directly to the construction site, which will reduce the time required for ordering. Moreover, it instructs all the aspects of a building project into one package. For instance, BIM is used for maintenance purposes and helps plumbers and electricians locate pipes and wires to prevent unnecessary damage to walls, floors, and ceilings. The adoption of these solutions offers lucrative opportunities for the growth of the market.
The growing preference for better interior design and decoration among customers and end-use industries is one of the primary factors driving the construction and design software market growth. Furthermore, interior designing companies use augmented and virtual reality, cloud computing, and 3D technology to capture the growing demand to offer customers seamless home interiors and renovation experiences. For instance, in October 2021, SmartDraw, a software used to create charts, floor plans, and network diagrams, updated its interior design software to include Google Sheets connectivity, allowing users to create charts or enrich shapes with data. It enables users to build data-driven diagrams and link data to specific shapes for further information. With the increase in cloud-based software, there are major opportunities for the market players operating in the market.

The Evolution of Scaffolding: From Ancient Times to Modern Construction
The evolution of scaffolding spans millennia, reflecting advancements in construction techniques and materials. In ancient times, civilizations such as the Egyptians and Romans used rudimentary scaffolding made from wood, ropes, and bamboo to build monumental structures like the pyramids and aqueducts. During the Middle Ages, timber scaffolds became prevalent in Europe, supporting the construction of cathedrals and castles.

We had Patrick Bellow from Atelier 10 at ACME yesterday to discuss the pertinence of designing simpler buildings.
"Architectural Labyrinths: Unveiling Sustainability in the Threads of Myth"
In the labyrinth of ancient myth, where Daedalus wove secrets into stone and Ariadne's thread guided the lost, a hidden language emerged. This was not merely a maze to confound, but a marvel of hydraulic mastery. Beneath the palace of Knossos, a subterranean dance unfolded, where the Minotaur's prison mirrored the intricate drainage systems of Minoan ingenuity.
As the Bronze Age dawned, so did the principles of sanitation in the ancient Hellenic world. Clay pipes, unseen conduits, whispered the secrets of water supply and waste removal. The Classical and Hellenistic eras elevated these principles, birthing a legacy that transcends myth. The echoes of Knossos reverberate in the labyrinths of today, not of stone, but of sustainable design.
In our modern odyssey, Federation Square stands as a testament to the fusion of myth and environmental commitment. Atelier Ten, armed with the torch of innovation, faced the design challenge of a glazed atrium, a potential furnace under the Australian sun. In response, they summoned the spirit of Daedalus and birthed the largest thermal labyrinth in the world. A subterranean sorcery, this thermal battery harnesses the cool embrace of the night to temper the heat of summer days, all without the need for mechanical cooling.
The architect's warning, etched in the ancient stones, speaks through these modern labyrinths. It beckons us to unravel the intricate dance of natural processes, to seek sustainability in the language of the architect. As cogeneration plants and absorption chillers stand sentinel, we learn from the timeless lessons of the past. The classical heritage of architecture, a repository of untapped wisdom, whispers of a sustainable future, where myth and environmental stewardship intertwine like the threads of Ariadne's spindle.

One of the first 3D-printed detached houses in #Germany is currently being built in #Beckum. The team of @Mense_Korte_Architekten managed to construct a two-storey building with 160 square metres of living space. The first level has an open floor plan including a living room, dining area, and a cosy fireplace in the middle. The second floor consists of three separate bedrooms (which might also be used as working space, for example). In addition, there are three bathrooms to accommodate several family members and guests. Since the whole building was made by a 3D printer, it took less than a year to complete the construction.
