Once, Always
(Edmund has an abundance of birthdays)
 .
“I say,” murmured Edmund sleepily as the fire burned low. “When do you suppose it is here? I mean—what time of year? Do you think it’s the beginning of September, the same as it was in England?”
“Summer,” said Lucy. “Certainly summer.”
Peter agreed. “I think it must be Highgrass, if I had to guess. Perhaps later. Greenroof?”
“If it’s Greenroof, then Edmund gets another birthday,” Lucy sighed. “Eleven or twelve, Ed?”
“Neither,” put in Susan. “A thousand, if you’re going to rationalize it that way. Now everyone hush, please, and get some sleep.”
.
Edmund’s birthday was the fifteenth day of Greenroof by the Narnian reckoning. Greenroof, late summer, when all the leaves were dark and broad. Narnian summers were long, but Greenroof was the last and best of the summer months. Greenroof was hunts through the dense foliage, blackberries heavy with juice, lazy afternoons, bonfires, wild romps, and the pleasant kind of sweat. Edmund’s birthday celebrations were always held on Dancing Lawn in the old days: the sort of long, laughter-bright nights that summer was made for.
The second time Edmund celebrated his eleventh birthday, it was just past three months since he and his siblings had returned home from the country. Their house was glass-strewn and battered, but still standing when they arrived home. By August it was beginning to feel really safe again, but sometimes Edmund still woke in the night to find his mother standing silent in the doorway, drinking in the sight of her two sons returned to her.
The professor sent one of Ivy’s famous spice cakes for Edmund’s birthday. It arrived tied in red string, which made Lucy reminisce fondly about dear Mr. Tumnus. Edmund’s siblings pooled their allowances to buy him the new Nero Wolfe detective novel, and his mother gave him a new cap and an electric torch.
“How do you feel?” his mother asked over dinner.
“I don’t feel any older, if that’s what you mean,” he said. “Eleven feels just the same as ten did yesterday.”
All four of them missed their birthdays the first year in Narnia. Too much else was going on at the time, and none of them was quite sure when their birthdays were supposed to be besides. The measurement of time was a thoroughly tangled issue.
The Narnian year had four hundred days even, divided into fourteen months of inconsistent lengths. Furthermore, the kingdom had only known winter for the last hundred years. The Narnians themselves were still remembering how the calendar worked in a world where the seasons changed. They didn’t have the words yet to explain it to their sovereigns.
“Eustace,” said Edmund, “your journal is wrong.”
“Give me that,” Eustace scowled at once. “I know it’s wrong, but there’s no need to rub my face in it. Aren’t I trying to make up for how I was?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant. The month is wrong. You’ve got September written here, but time works differently in Narnia than it does in the Other Place. Haven’t you noticed that it’s summer, not autumn?”
“Oh.” Eustace shrugged. “I followed Occam’s Razor and assumed that the climate here was different rather than time itself.”
“Occam’s what?” This was Lucy.
“Occam’s Razor: the simplest solution to a problem is the most likely—never mind. Well, go on, what month is it?”
“Highgrass,” said Lucy.
“July,” said Edmund at the same moment. “More or less.”
 .
They worked it all out one afternoon as the second spring of their reign was ending. Peter and Susan wrote out the English calendar on one stack of parchment while Edmund and Lucy sat down with the Narnian calendar and penciled in seasonal markers as best they could manage.
“The first crocuses came up right at the end of Cleardome, yes?”
“Yes, I think so. And the snowdrops were in their full glory that month too.”
“How do you want to deal with leap year?”
“Just forget about it. Narnia doesn’t have anything similar, so I think twenty-eight days for February is fine for our purposes.”
“Magnolia in Laceveil, yes?”
“Laceveil is a good marker in general. We ought to set that as May and go from there.”
Birthdays were guesses, no matter how much counting they did. Yet as memories of England receded and Narnia’s world blossomed into everything they knew, those guesses solidified into fact. Edmund turned eleven for the first time on the fifteenth day of Greenroof. He was the first of his siblings to celebrate a proper birthday in Narnia.
The fourth time Edmund turned twelve, he received another electric torch to replace the one he’d lost. He laughed for half a minute, holding that gift in his hand.
“Really, you should have expected it,” said Susan primly.
"I did."
Their mother tsked and added something about keeping track of one’s belongings, but that was alright. His siblings understood.
Edmund flicked on the light and watched the beam land on the far wall across the living room. Bright at the edges and dark towards the center where the bulb was. He moved his wrist sideways and watched the spot of light follow.
Edmund might have forgotten about his birthday aboard the Dawn Treader if Lucy hadn’t remembered. She conspired with the cook to have a spread of Edmund’s favorite foods at supper (such as could be managed at sea) and coerced Rynelf into playing jigs on his fiddle afterwards. While they were dancing, Caspian called for a cask of his best wine, and soon the ship’s whole company was making merry like only Narnians could.
“Didn’t you have a twelfth birthday the last time you were in Narnia?” Caspian asked curiously as the party was dying down.
“Yes,” Edmund replied, “and the time before that too. Confused yet?”
“Ed has all the luck,” Lucy pouted playfully. “We always seem to return to Narnia in the summer, so he gets all the extra birthdays.”
Caspian's face lit up. “How extraordinary! When’s yours then?”
“Cleardome. There’s a year and a half between Ed and me, and he never lets me forget it.”
“It’s really not as exciting as all that,” Edmund added. “We’re not living our lives backwards, or unstuck in time, or any such nonsense. It’s more like—our lives are folded in on themselves, you see? But never the same way twice.”
“I think it’s more like music than anything else,” Lucy said, a kind of fond wistfulness in her voice.
“Yes,” said Edmund. “I know what you mean.”
On the thirteenth of Greenroof, the Telmarines laid down their arms and surrendered to Old Narnia. The next day, messengers were sent forth across the land with news of the surrender and with terms for the Telmarines. Caspian’s coronation followed, and then Edmund woke and it was his birthday again.
Breakfast that morning was long and languid, for Peter and Susan knew that they must say farewell to Narnia, even if the younger ones did not. They lingered round the table with Caspian and Trumpkin and the rest, and presently Peter offered a toast.
“To my brother King Edmund, who is eleven and twelve and sixty-three and thirteen hundred years old today.”
Everyone raised their cups and repeated, “King Edmund.” Caspian nodded and added, “Long live the king,” with an almost ironic tilt to his head.
Naturally, Edmund nodded back. “And to you, King Caspian. Long may you reign.”
Another round of assent followed, and then Lucy cleared her throat. “But also,” she said, “To late summer and the rebirth of Our Narnia. And to the land, the sea, the hills, the trees, the sky, Cair Paravel-by-the-sea and Dancing Lawn and all the flowers that are still in bloom. And to the color green. To all of us here today, and to those who are gone. And to Aslan.”
“Here, here.”
There were tears in Susan’s eyes now. “Happy birthday,” she whispered, and squeezed Edmund’s hand tight. Edmund looked down at his plate, fiercely overcome with love for this place and these people. In a strict, chronological sense, it had been less than a month since his last birthday, but how did the saying go? Time was just a tangled string, or falling snow, or whatever else Aslan told it to be.
“Bother,” said Edmund, “I’ve left my new torch in Narnia.”
Everyone chuckled at this, but Susan said, “Wait a year. We’ll get you a new one for your next birthday.”

Wound
Patroclus x Achilles | M | one-shot | hurt / comfort | bandaging wounds | broken ribs
Summary: At first, Patroclus was horrified by his love returning from battle smattered with gore. Now, he’s so used to it he only wishes Achilles would shower off and leave his sweaty armor outside their tent. So when Achilles comes back clutching his side, he can only assume it’s a prank …
It was a dry summer. Despite nearly daily sacrifices and chants, the fifteenth day without rain was drawing to an end. Flies collected on the backs of mules and the White Tent stunk with the sweat and blood of returning raids. Even Patroclus, though a seasoned medic, found himself stepping out for air more frequently than usual.
He plunged his hands into a jug of lukewarm water, wishing it were colder. The more he repeated to himself the day would end, the longer each minute stretched. But it would end. Achilles would be home. If he so much as sets foot in our tent with his crusty armor on … thought Patroclus, scouring his hands and forearms methodically. He was about to swear to himself that Achilles did not have a prayer of getting him in bed if there was so much a fleck of grime from his chariot wheel on his person. But of course, who could keep a promise like that? He grabbed a towel as he stepped back into the sweltering tent. If tries to kiss me with his helmet on, I’m not giving him head for a week.
There was so much to do. A huge man from Pylos needed stitches in his calf. Patroclus kept a stoic front, but by the time he returned to his own camp was irritable, hot, and tired. He knew Achilles would be home already. He hated leaving him to wait. It always felt like wasted time.
“Oh good,” said a clear, familiar voice, “I thought you’d never come.”
“‘Killes,” Patroclus mumbled, suddenly folded in the young man’s arms, his head pressed to his shoulder. He shut his eyes and allowed his neck and face to be kissed. He loved the feeling of Achilles’ firm, calloused hand cradling the back of his neck.
“You need to shave,” Patroclus said as his lover kissed between his eyes, “Can’t burn down Troy looking patchy.”
“Patchy?” Achilles pulled away, “Ugh.” At twenty two, his beard never quite filled in.
“Well don’t stop,” he said, stepping closer to murmur against Achilles’ throat, “Let me do it. Take a bath with me.” He grinned and pulled him close by the hips. He was warm and hardening.
Achilles was perfect. The sun left his skin a deep olive against the snowy linen of his tunic. He was hard, lean muscle, the fastest runner in the world. His hair always a little fairer in summer. It clean and tied in an easy knot at the nape of his neck. A few wavy strands framed his face, which now that Patroclus studied it, was tense. Patroclus took his chin, running a thumb over his lips. “What’s wrong?” he asked, “Never mind about your beard. I’m sorry I said anything.”
Inwardly, he was a little annoyed at having to reassure Achilles of his good looks. It wasn’t like him.
“Oh— no— It’s not that,” he said, wincing a little when Patroclus tried to pull him close again, “Love, I’ve got to sit down.”
Achilles stumbled to the edge of their bed, clutching his side and leaving Patroclus puzzled. He looked up and forced a smile. “Sorry about that bath, Pat, really.”
“Sweetheart?” Pat was beside him immediately, studying him closely, “Oh, gods, you got hurt.”
A protective arm drew around Achilles strong shoulders. He kissed the top of his head, then paused and said suspiciously, “You never get hurt.”
“Well I did, this time!”
“Pelides, if this is a prank—“
“No, no, Pat, I swear!” Next thing he knew, the hand gripping Achilles side was held out to him, slick with blood.
“Oh-oh.” It came out as two syllables. “Oh no.”
His brows knit in a worried frown. Patroclus took Achilles hand carefully in both of his. “Oh, sweetheart, what…? What happened?”
“Oh, come on, it can’t be as bad as how you’re looking at me right now,” said Achilles as he held up an arm to inspect his ribs.
“No. It’s not bad. It probably won’t even scar,” said Patroclus, but his voice was sadder than his words. “Hold still, baby.”
“Ok, ok, that hurts!” Achilles backed away, folding his arms defensively.
“I should think so. Why weren’t you wearing armor?”
“I was!”
“Achilles!”
What Patroclus had seen was a shallow, bright red slash where something sharp had grazed his ribs. He wasn’t looking forward to seeing the bruising tomorrow morning.
“You cracked a rib so whatever little stunt this was from I hope it was worth it.”
“Why are you angry?”
“Just tell me what happened.”
Achilles smiled, a little smugly, “I swung onto the back of a chariot and slit the throat of everyone in it. The horses panicked and scattered their whole formation.”
Patroclus rolled his eyes. “I bet your driver loved that. Did you even warn him you were going to jump?.”
He grinned. “I was on foot.”
“You fucking what? Achilles, you’re not faster than a horse. This is stupid.“
“Not weighed down with armor I’m not.”
“Oh gods.”
“What? You’ve raced me. You’d know.” He leaned back, self satisfied.
“Fucking show off.”
“Why are you so angry?” he took Patroclus’s face in his hands. “Pat, I’ve missed you all day. Like you said, it probably won’t even scar. What do you want for dinner?”
Tears stood in Patroclus’s large brown eyes. “You got hurt.”
“I’m a soldier.”
“You took your armor off! For what? For everyone to see your faster than all the Trojans and their horses?”
“I—“
“Are you twelve years old?!” Patroclus raised his voice as he so rarely did.
“You didn’t even ask me what happened after I hijacked the chariot.”
“Stay there. It doesn’t need stitches but you’re bleeding.” He rummaged through a trunk of clothes for an old tunic, which he began tearing into strips. It was his own and he’d have to replace it but the linen would be worn soft and more comfortable.
“And then,” said Achilles, “I trampled five people before someone threw a spear at me.”
“Someone threw a spear at you?” The blood was draining from Patroclus’s face.
“Serves me right. I throw spears at them all the time— ow!” He cried out as he tried to finish his joke with a shrug. “Anyhow, why do you care? They missed.”
Patroclus touched the open wound lightly. “Not by enough.”
“Pat, you’re crying. You’re seriously upset, aren’t you? Patroclus—“
“What? You did what you wanted to do and even I did been there I can’t stop you, can I?”
“Pat, don’t. Come here, baby.”
Patroclus shook his head. “I’m not cuddling up on your broken rib. You’ve gotten enough attention for one day. Sit still.” Achilles yelped as Patroclus wound clean cloth around his chest.
“Pat,” he whined, struggling to hold still as he pulled the bandages tight. Patroclus’s face was a flat, professional mask. “Don’t you feel sorry for me?” he teased, “Even a little?”
“No.”
“Pat! Patroclus, where are you going?” He sounded panicked as he watched him calming slip on his shoes and gather a couple of larger jars.
“The beach. You did a good job cleaning it yourself, but I want to boil some water and check it again in a few hours.”
“Oh no, you are not putting salt water on me, Pat, I am wounded. I am in pain.”
“What do you think the rest of us put up with?”
Achilles sighed and settled onto his good side, cheek resting on one hand. “Please come back and tell me what’s really bothering you. Was it just a long day? Wash up and get something to eat and then you can tell me about it.”
Patroclus set down the jars by the tent entrance. He sat beside Achilles and opened his arms. “You’re going to hurt yourself at that angle. You don’t need to pose for me to appreciate your slutty little waist.” Patroclus gave a half smile, playfully pinching Achilles’ sleek, perfectly straight side.
“It hurts more when you ignore me,” he said, resting his head on Patroclus’s chest.
“When have I ever ignored you?” Patroclus relaxed a little now that his dearest was right where he could touch and smell him, feel his heartbeat against his own skin.
“You were about to.”
Patroclus stroked his neck and upper back in a thoughtful silence. “I didn’t want to be angry at you. Not when you came home with a broken bone but … gods, Achilles, it was so close.”
“Hector is still kicking, yes?” Achilles was kissing his throat, clearly trying to distract him from the discussion.
“That’s not a good reason to be careless. I’ve been thinking.” He paused and pursed his lips for a moment. “You know how prophecies go. Like in plays and things.”
“Sure.”
“They’re never what you expect.”
“So? I’m alive. Hector’s alive. We’ll play again tomorrow.”
“Yes, but you’re banking on being the only thing that can kill him. He’s just a man, Achilles. He can get sick or in an accident. You’re only assuming he’ll die in battle because it’s the most obvious.”
“He will. I’ll kill him whenever I get around to it. Maybe I’ll hit him over the head with my cane just before I drop dead of old age. Did you think of that?”
Patroclus felt a chill thinking of it. He wasn’t sure where the words he said next came from. “The fates don’t like being tricked.”
“I won’t push it,” said Achilles, “For you.” He kissed Patroclus’s throat and along his strong jaw. “I won’t leave you.”
“You can’t promise that.”
“Ouch— too tight.”
“M’Sorry, honey,” said Patroclus. Achilles had slid down, his head on Patroclus’s belly. He curled up in a tangle of arms and legs to keep from hanging off the bed. Patroclus ran the back of his index finger down the bridge of his nose. “Don’t leave me.”
“You just said I can’t promise.”
“Promise anyway.”
Achilles kissed him right at the sharp angle of his hipbone. “I won’t leave you. Never.” He planted more kisses down Patroclus’s hip, each teasing and more intimate than the last.
“Oh no,” Patroclus stopped him, “You’re resting tonight. If you want that, you can come home in one piece.”
“You don’t want me?”
“I want you to heal your damn rib. Go to bed, Achilles.”
He lay his golden head on Patroclus’s stomach once again, restless and tense. He couldn’t help stroking the dark hair around his navel, tracing his finger in soft swirls.
“Excuse me,” said Patroclus, arresting his fingers in his. “Good night.” But despite his stern tone, he pressed Achilles’ hand to his lips in a kiss more tender than if he were caring for a sick child.
“It hurts to much to sleep,” Achilles confessed.
“I know. I’ll stay with you.” He massaged Achilles shoulders, rubbing slowly down his arms, then back up again. “Can I take your hair down, love?”
“Mmhhmm.”
His face always looked about three years younger when he was tired or sad. He smiled boyishly, burying his face in Patroclus and inhaling deeply. Patroclus gentled tugged his hair free. It spread across the mattress in soft, fair waves. Thought he would have been content simply to admire the beautiful hair, Patroclus began working his fingers in little circles at Achilles’ temples, back to the base of his neck. He knew Achilles was like a cat about affection. Hesitant to touch nearly anyone, but spoiled and eager when he wanted it.
“Never stop,” he mumbled, “That’s perfect.”
Patroclus rolled his eyes. “Brat,” he said.
“You love me.” He tried to sound cocky but he tumbled out almost like a question.
“More than anything.” Patroclus didn’t feel like playing games anymore. He was as serious as a devotee at an alter. His hand rested still on Achilles head.
They were quiet together, though neither fell asleep. And as the sun went down, an easy rain pattered against their tent.

i don’t follow football what happened with chelsea?
okay strap in bc this chelsea season has been. definitely. Something!!
let's start with last season as a little catch up. chelsea (one of the 6 biggest clubs in the premier league) finished twelfth on the table (out of 20). it was their first season under new ownership, and they went through four (4) managers in the 38-game season. finishing in twelfth made it the club's lowest season since 1993-94, where they finished 14th. because of their 12th place finish, this (23/24, current season) is the first season since 2016-17 that they didn't compete in europe (champions league, europa league, europa conference league).
so. not a great year for the boys in blue.
this summer. chelsea spent ~£435 million on new players. that's the most a single club has ever spent during a single transfer window in premier league history. these transfers included moises caicedo (a defensive midfielder from brighton for £100 million (plus bonuses)), nicolas jackson (a striker from villarreal for £32 million), christopher nkunku (a striker from rb leipzig for £52 million), and cole palmer (an attacking midfielder from manchester city for £40 million plus bonuses) (more on this later.)
transfers out included césar azpilicueta, a defender who was their captain since 2019 (who lead them to winning the champions league in 2021), mateo kovačić, mason mount, kai havertz, and christian pulisic (all champions league winners, all played in the final in 2021, havertz scoring the only goal in the game)
these new transfers in are all young. of the 12 new signings, two were born in 1997 one was born in 1998 and one was born in 1999, but the rest are 2000s babies (2 in '01, 1 in '02, 4 in '04, and 1 in '05). so there's a severe lack of experience on this team (ben chilwell is 27, raheem sterling is 29, and thiago silva is 39 – 12 of their 29 players are u21). the average age on the team is 23 (their goalies are the oldest at 27 on average, defenders at 24, midfielders at 21, and forwards at 22).
because azpilicueta left the club, you need a new captain. they found theirs in chelsea academy boy reece james, a 24-year-old defender. his vice captains are ben chilwell, the 27-year-old left back signed from leicester city in 2020, conor gallagher, a 24-year-old central midfielder also from chelsea's academy, and thiago silva, the 39-year-old signed from psg in 2020.
and because of the managerial disasters of last season, they need a new manager. they bring on mauricio pochettino, former manager of spurs and psg (where he lead the team to the ligue 1 title).
welcome to chelsea. let's start the season.
their first match was at home against liverpool. liverpool scored first, in the 18th minute, but chelsea tied it up before the half, the first goal from new signee axel disasi. the second half is mostly uneventful, but oops, captain reece james has to be substituted off with a hamstring injury. he is now out until october (it is august).
their next match is away against west ham. ben chilwell takes the captain's armband. it's the 7th minute. west ham scores. chelsea pulls one back in the 28th minute, 1 all. west ham picks up three yellow cards in the first half. in the second half, west ham scores again. then, the hammers go down a man for a second yellow card, chelsea is now playing 11 against 10. they cannot turn it around. not only do they not turn it around, they concede another goal. chelsea loses 3-1. it is week 2 of the premier league season, and chelsea is fifteenth on the table.
they beat newly promoted luton town week 3 and rise to 10th place.
meanwhile, chelsea is competing in the league cup. that's going well so far - a 2-1 win against fourth tier afc wimbledon (phil dunster's team!) in august right after beating luton town - maybe things are turning around! (things are not turning around.)
then they face a loss, a draw, and another loss to nottingham forest, bournemouth, and aston villa (a game in which malo gusto picks up a straight red card and is now unable to play the next few games).
let's... let's check in on the league cup. we need something good for these boys after this hell they've faced in september. they've drawn fellow premiership club brighton & hove albion at home in the third round. they win! 1-0, thanks to a goal in the 50th minute from new signee nicolas jackson. but in the 7th minute of stoppage time at the end of the game, ben chilwell (their captain, with reece james still out injured), is fouled and has to come off with a hamstring injury. but also oops, chelsea's already used all their substitution windows - they have to finish the game with 10 men. luckily, they see it out and move on to the next round.
reece james is still injured. ben chilwell is now injured. conor gallagher, time to step up.
happy october, chelsea. their first two premier league draws of the month are against fulham (who finished 10th on the table in 22/23) and newly promoted burnley. chelsea win both. they are 11th on the table after both results. and! reece james is back! they draw 2-2 at home against arsenal, and rise to 10th on the table. their last match in october is against brentford, who finished 9th on the table last season, and were 13th going into this match. they lose 0-2.
november starts big with a league cup win against championship side blackburn and a 1-4 win at tottenham (all four goals are scored by new signees - a penalty from cole palmer, and a hat trick from nicolas jackson) after the win against tottenham, they are taking slutty, slutty locker room pictures.
let's pause here to talk about fouls, yeah? chelsea has not gone a single game this season without picking up a booking. 1 is the minimum so far, against brentford, 2 against luton, and the rest have had 3+. they have been booked with 35 yellow cards and one red card as of week eleven of the premier league season.
november ends with a draw against manchester city (10th on the table, 22 points, 5 more yellow cards), a loss to newcastle (10th on the table, 22 points, 5 yellow cards & a 6th that becomes a red card for reece james).
december - a win against brighton (10th on the table, 25 points, 4 yellow cards & a 5th that becomes a red card for conor gallagher before halftime) and then two losses in a row (a 2-1 loss at manchester united - chelsea's first league game of the season without a booking. cole palmer scores the only goal - and then a 2-0 loss at everton that drops them to 12th on the table, 2 more bookings. reece james is injured again and has to get surgery for his hamstring). they win against newly promoted, bottom of the table sheffield united (with another booking), and return to tenth on the table.
league cup break! they draw newcastle united 1-1 in the quarterfinals. the game goes to penalties. chelsea wins 4-2 on penalties. four more yellow cards are picked up in this game. chelsea moves on to play middlesbrough in the two-legged semifinals in january. we'll return to this.
back to the prem.
on christmas eve, they play away at wolves and lose 2-1. christopher nkunku scores in the 96th minute. chelsea picks up 6 more yellow cards.
they end 2023 and start 2024 on a three game winning streak (against crystal palace, luton town, and fulham). in these three games, they pick up 3, 2, and 5 yellow cards. after the win against fulham, they raise to 9th on the table, the highest they've been all season.
they lose spectacularly to liverpool to end january, 4-1, picking up 4 yellow cards in the process. this drops them back to 10th on the table.
meanwhile, they've played both legs of that league cup semifinal i mentioned, winning 6-2 on aggregate. chelsea's going to the final! maybe they will win a trophy this season! who're they playing in that final at the end of february? oh. oh, it's liverpool? okay.
the fa cup's going on now too ! they beat championship side preston north end 4-0, and then draw aston villa 0-0 at home - this will go to a replay the first week of february. only one yellow card across these two games, well done, chelsea.
first they've got a prem match to play against wolves. they allow wolves player matheus cunha to score a hat trick on them. oops. final result 2-4, 3 more yellow cards, 11th on the table with a goal difference of -1 (they've let 1 more goal past them than they've scored all season).
i know what you're saying. chelsea needs a good run here. and they get it! after losing to wolves, they don't lose another premier league game until today, april 23. we will get back to this. they win against crystal palace, newcastle united, manchester united, and everton (the everton game, they win 6-0. we will get back to this.) they draw against manchester city, brentford, and sheffield united (you know, the bottom of the table team who has no chance of staying in the prem next year).
they also win their fa cup ties against aston villa (replay) and championship sides leeds united and leicester city. they face manchester city in the semi finals. they lose. they also lose that league cup final to liverpool. a trophyless season for chelsea. they also still haven't figured out that premier league yellow card problem.
so let's talk about The Everton Game. cole palmer scored his second hat trick in two games and this one's brilliant. seriously watch the highlights it's amazing. chelsea is awarded a penalty in the 64th minute. all hell breaks loose on that pitch, roy kent vs jamie tartt style. here's a clip. for context, madueke was the one fouled for the penalty, palmer is the designated penalty taker. pochettino clearly hadn't made that clear to his players. you cannot fight on the pitch like that. you. you just.... you can't do that. palmer takes the penalty, his fourth goal of the night, he is in the golden boot (top scorer in the league) race.
what happened today, then? chelsea gets absolutely spanked 5-0 at arsenal. palmer was not playing today - he's sick. kai havertz who left chelsea for arsenal this summer scored 2. here's a sign a child held up in the crowd today. they're currently 9th on the table after 32 of 38 games have been played. the state of the club is a disaster. i'm genuinely intrigued to see what happens next year because.....it can't go on like this.
cole palmer leads the club in goals, assists, chances created, shots per game, key passes, through balls per game, xg, motm awards, & penalties.
thiago silva is leaving this summer.
nothing else is known. chelsea goes to aston villa on saturday. the league continues.

Have I admitted on this blog yet that I was deeply obsessed with Survivor for about a decade and a half? It's the only reality show I've ever watched (or had the desire to watch), but I really watched it. I got so into it, I used to read all the Survivor blogs before social media existed. It started airing when I was nine years old and I watched the first season with my parents, I think I initially got into it because I spent all my time trying to understand the complex unspoken battle that was the social system at school, one I knew just enough about to know I was the worst one in my whole school at it and that's why I was the only one with no friends, and I enjoyed watching adults play out a similar concept in a way that had slightly more clearly defined rules, and crucially did not have consequences for my personal life, so I could try to study that as some outside example in my quest to understand how people worked. Also my grandmother, who was a psychologist for thirty years, was really into Survivor so we started calling each other after every episode to talk for two hours, and we became very close as a result of that, we'd get into all the psychological reasons why things happened on Survivor and then we'd just start talking about psychology in general and that is a huge part of why I went on to get a psych degree at university, and like I said I had no friends before high school so being close friends with my grandmother was a big deal. I ended up continuing to follow Survivor even after my grandmother died when I was 16, I kept it up until my mid-twenties, around season 30. Haven't followed it in several years now, though the other day I saw my mom watching and was pleased to see they've reached season 46. Good for them. I hope they get to 50.
Anyway, I remember Parvati. I definitely remember Parvati. Her first season was in 2006, the last season that aired before my grandmother died, when she was sick but still watching. It was also the first season that aired after I started to really properly work out I was (mostly) gay, after a long succession of female contestants that I cheered for between the ages of 10-16 because I just really really liked them for reasons I couldn't quite articulate at the time. Parvati was one of the first few that I could recognize at the time I liked because she was an attractive person walking around in bathing suits, though I did not say so to my grandmother. I never came out to her before she died, but she did give me a Melissa Etheridge CD for my fifteenth birthday, after several years of listening to me always pick one or two very attractive women from each Survivor season to really really like for unexplained reasons, so I'm pretty sure she knew.
All right, is that enough to justify this? I have now tied this into my lack of friends/fear of social situations as a child, my close bond with my late grandmother, my chosen field of study and related career path, and figuring out my stigmatized sexual orientation. All of which is entirely true and Survivor really did play a part in those things, but also, I have specifically chosen to tell those parts of the story in the hopes that tying it to enough subjects with emotional depth will help justify admitting to having spent many years being really really into a reality television show. And am now reporting on reality TV-based celebrity relationship gossip.
All right, I think I've done enough of that. Parvati Shallow was a contestant on several seasons of reality TV (she first played when I was 16, then came back for several more seasons across a bunch of years), I watched those seasons when I was a teenager and in my twenties, she was really hot, Mae Martin is also hot, those two even being in a room together feels like an insane crossover episode of my extremely different interests that I have trouble believing technically exist in the same universe, but damn, good for them. Good for both of them. I hope they're having a good time. Parvati was definitely not (openly) queer when she was on Survivor, but I'm not sure heterosexuality can survive the lure of Mae Martin. Sorry for engaging in both objectification and reality TV-based celebrity relationship gossip, I'll go back to being respectable tomorrow.

Happy New Year! 2023
Tumblr media
Once again it’s New Years Eve and my yearly tradition of wrapping up the year by reviewing things that have come out but I haven’t had time to write about. Here we go!
Doctor WHO: Wild Blue Yonder and the Giggle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wild Blue Yonder was just the perfect amount of creepy, mysterious and suspenseful with pure nightmare fuel. And Neil Patrick Harris was perfection as the Doctor’s old foe the Celestial Toymaker. Plus a great regeneration scene to introduce Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor without having to say goodbye to David Tennant’s 14th.
The Marvels
Tumblr media
I liked Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel so I knew I’d like this one. Is it a perfect movie? No. But it is fun. But you do have to watch Ms Marvel and Wandavision to know who everyone or it’s hard to follow along. As my parents found out. They still liked it enough but you have to be a super fan to really enjoy it.
Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road
Tumblr media
I am so hyped for Ncuti Gatwa’s fifteenth doctor! This was a fun episode and a great introduction to a new companion with a great mystery set up and I can’t wait to see what is next!
Migration
Tumblr media
This was cute. Not amazing or super funny but cute. The little duckling Gwen is the best part. That’s it.
The Color Purple (2023 Musical)
Tumblr media
It’s well performed and all the musical numbers are great, but if you saw the original you know it’s better. I do like how Sug and Celiy have a stronger friendship and I even like how Celiy forgives Albert in the end here. And the explanation of how she inherits her mother’s house and gets her business is better handled.
Wonka
Tumblr media
I loved this. It’s so fun and whimsical with just enough of a dark edge to tie back to the original book and moreover Gene Wilder’s sarcastic chocolate maker in the 71 version. It’s not a direct prequel but it definitely feels like this story could lead to that one. Plus Timothee Charlamet surprised me by how good of a singer he was! And he’s very charming and ties the whole movie together. Plus it’s written by Simon Farnaby of the BBCs Ghosts so it’s got that clever writing in it.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Tumblr media
I don’t know why but I like this movie more than the first one. Maybe because I can feel how much fun Jason Mamoa had making it. Maybe because I’m a sucker for a reformed villain that helps his older brother defeat the ancient evil threatening their family (which is weird that’s it’s happened twice) but I do like the story and the action and that it’s got a happy ending.
What If Season 2
Here we go…the big one…one Episode at a time…
What if Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?
This was a fun neon noir mystery with one of my favorite new characters. And it really proves that one way or another Nebula was meant to become a hero.
What if Peter Quill attacked Earths Mightiest Heroes?
Or what if the Avengers assembled in the 1980’s? Basically Peter Quill is taken to his father Ego as a child. But once Peter realizes what his Dad is making him do, he returns to Earth because he’s still a good kid. He’s still a kid so he uses his new powers to make Coney Island his own playground so Hank Pym Antman, Goliath, Bucky Barnes Winter Solider, the Black Panther (Tchallas Dad) and Wendy Larson Mar Vel and Thor come in to take him in. It’s a fun team up. Especially when you add Peggy Carter and Howard Stark.
What if Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?
I’ve never seen Die Hard, but I’ll be happy to watch this every Christmas! This was fun seeing Happy be the hero for once. With a great return for a villain that we haven’t seen much of.
What if Iron Man crashed into the Grandmaster?
I loved this one! It was great seeing Tony taken out of his comfort zone on Sakarr. The Grandmaster does have that affect on people…lol. It was face paced and clever with jokes and story. Just great.
What if Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?
This whole episode was a sequel to Captain Carter’s story in season one. Basically it was her version of Captain America:The Winter Soldier but with the Red Room instead of Hydra. Captain Carter is always great and seeing her lose Steve again was sad but then the season plot comes a calling and she gets pulled into it.
What if Kahori Reshaped the World?
This was a great story and it features a new character! Basically Asgard gets destroyed before Odin can hide the Tesseract but it ends up in North America where a Mohawk Indian woman named Kahori winds up getting powers from it. And she’s a great character who I’m sure fulfilled a power fantasy for native Americans and gets to see a superhero like them at last.
What if Hela Found the Ten Rings?
I liked this one too. This basically has Odin banish Hela to Earth instead of locking her away. And while she starts off her usual villain self, we see her change into the hero she could have been. Plus Odin is back to being the worst parent in the MCU since we learn Hela just wanted to rule to gain her freedom since her Dad made her a weapon against her will.
What if the Avengers Assembled in 1602?
Okay I loved this one too. It was fun seeing an Elizabethan version of the Avengers with Captain Carter pulled from her universe to save there’s. And after she meets Steve Rogers, our hearts get broken all over again when they don’t get together again. Basically I really hope they’re building up to having Captain Carter finding a happily ever after with another Steve Rogers that lost his Peggy.
What if Strange Supreme Intervened?
Which brings us to the finale. So this season’s storylines aren’t quite as intertwined as last seasons, but when Strange Supreme showed up in Kahori’s story and then at the end of the 1602 story I knew something was up. And sure enough he tricks Peggy into finding Kahori for him after she escapes him. Turns out he’s been collecting villains and heroes to power a spell to restore his universe. He just couldn’t escape his grief. It’s got a bittersweet ending and Captain Carter has more adventures in store…speaking of which…
Tumblr media
Hey Peggy? See that big tree there? There’s a really cute God of Stories in there that needs to be rescued. Just drop him off on Earth 1218 and I’ll take care of him. Thanks Doll.
Happy New Year!

Timestamp: Series Ten and Twelfth Doctor Summary
New Post has been published on https://esonetwork.com/timestamp-series-ten-and-twelfth-doctor-summary/
Timestamp: Series Ten and Twelfth Doctor Summary
Doctor Who Series Ten and Twelfth Doctor Summary
Peter Capaldi’s final run was nearly on par with his last set.
This group of stories kept up with Series Nine‘s continuing mission to analyze the human condition in the science fiction tradition. Series Ten focused less on vengeance but kept a focus on the consequences of what came before. In a beautiful narrative loop, we found the Twelfth Doctor suffering from the loss of Clara and River, finding hope in Missy and Bill, and then coming right back to the top of the clock with the intent of giving up so he didn’t lose anyone else again. Thankfully, he faced his fear (with a little help from his friends) and decided to carry on with brave hearts.
The big miss in an otherwise strong thematic season was the Monk trilogy – Extremis & The Pyramid at the End of the World & The Lie of the Land – which took a strange sideways adventure that didn’t really have any consequences aside from opening the door on Missy’s vault. It also brought to bear several questions about regeneration after the big reset in The Time of the Doctor, including why the Doctor chose not to spend a little energy to restore his eyesight.
Bill and Nardole were amazing as the Doctor’s combined conscience, almost acting in the same style as the classic Star Trek Kirk-Spock-McCoy pathos-logos-ethos triumvirate. I absolutely adored Bill’s wide-eyed innocence when it came to the Doctor’s adventures, and her growth was evident when she saved his life and then told him point-blank to move on. She’s probably one of my favorite modern companions.
Overall, Series Ten comes in with a solid 4.0 score. That ties with the classic Twelfth Season, and places this set at fifteenth among the thirty-eight seasons (so far) in the scope of the Timestamps Project. That’s not too bad at all, particularly for a group of stories that I wouldn’t mind visiting again in the future (with the exception of the Monk Trilogy).
The Return of Doctor Mysterio – 4 The Pilot – 5 Smile – 4 Thin Ice – 4 Knock Knock – 4 Oxygen – 3 Extremis & The Pyramid at the End of the World & The Lie of the Land – 2 Empress of Mars – 4 The Eaters of Light – 4 World Enough and Time & The Doctor Falls – 5 Twice Upon a Time – 5
Series Nine Average Rating: 4.0/5
Following tradition…
The First Doctor was a wise grandfather, the Second a sly jester, the Third a secret agent scientist, the Fourth an inquisitive idealist, the Fifth an honorable humanitarian, the Sixth a squandered cynic, the Seventh a curious schemer, the Eighth a classical romantic, the Ninth a hopeful healing veteran, the Tenth a bargaining humanitarian, the Eleventh an irascible runner…
…and the Twelfth Doctor is a principled warrior.
It’s evident that this Doctor grew over his lifetime, and while he faced a lot of loss in this lifetime and his previous regenerations, he faced the threats before him with a hard line drawn at his feet. He stood as a sentinel to protect the innocent, the memories of the Last Great Time War fresh in his mind, and he kept his fury close to the surface as a warning to any who would challenge him. He cared for his companions to a fault, and those losses hurt him, but in the end he knew that he needed to soldier on for the sake of the universe at large.
While it’s easy to find a place for the Twelfth Doctor based on the scores I have assigned over three series, it was far more difficult to weigh out how I feel about him as a character. That took a lot of thought, and while the rankings are very close among the top ten in the “by character” list, I feel like that ranking is true to how I feel. I’d watch any episode with those Doctors on a whim.
Series Scores Series 8 – 3.6 Series 9 – 4.1 Series 10 – 4.0
Twelfth Doctor’s Weighted Average Rating: 3.87
Ranking (by score) 1 – Eighth (4.50) 2 – Tenth (4.34) 3 – Ninth (4.30) 4 – Eleventh (4.17) 5 – Third (4.00) 6 – Twelfth (3.87) 7 – Second (3.67) 8 – Fourth (3.67) 9 – Seventh (3.54) 10 – First (3.41) 11 – Fifth (3.20) 12 – Sixth (2.73) N/A – War (No score)
Ranking (by character) 1 – Tenth Doctor 2 – Second Doctor 3 – Ninth Doctor 4 – Eighth Doctor 5 – Third Doctor 6 – Fourth Doctor 7 – Twelfth Doctor 8 – War Doctor 9 – Eleventh Doctor 10 – Seventh Doctor 11 – First Doctor 12 – Fifth Doctor 13 – Sixth Doctor
As I’ve mentioned before, the top ten spaces on the character ranking are really, really, really close. I’m always tempted to simply rank them all as a first-place tie, but I find the real challenge to be actually thinking it through and placing them.
Next up, the Timestamps Project continues to the Thirteenth Doctor’s era. Without any spinoffs on the docket, it’s a straight shot from here through her journey to the franchise’s sixtieth anniversary.
UP NEXT – Doctor Who: The Woman Who Fell to Earth
The Timestamps Project is an adventure through the televised universe of Doctor Who, story by story, from the beginning of the franchise. For more reviews like this one, please visit the project’s page at Creative Criticality.

[ad_1] DETROIT — Eric Haase had three hits, together with a house run, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on Saturday night time. The Tigers have received seven of eight. The Twins should win their last 4 video games to complete with a .500 season."I don't usually worry about things like our final record," stated Twins supervisor Rocco Baldelli. "Our goal here is to build a team that can win a World Series, not finish with 81 wins. But they print the standings every day, so it isn't like we can avoid seeing them. It would have been nice to have a winning record, but we have a lot more important issues ahead of us." Detroit Tigers second baseman Harold Castro throws to first base over Minnesota Twins' Jake Cave for the double play hit into by Twins' Gary Sanchez through the fourth inning of a baseball recreation, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, in Detroit. Carlos Osorio / AP With the rating tied at 2 within the sixth, Javier Báez was hit by a pitch from Ronny Henriquez (0-1). Báez moved to second on a fly ball. Harold Castro grounded to first baseman Luis Arraez, however he missed Henriquez together with his throw, permitting Báez to attain the go-ahead run. Daniel Norris (2-0) picked up the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Andrew Chafin picked up his second save after A.J. Hinch used nearer Gregory Soto within the eighth."When you have to go to the bullpen in the fifth, it is going to create matchup problems at some point, because you only have so many guys out there," Hinch stated. "We had a plan, but we had to adjust it a lot as the game went on."Tigers starter Drew Hutchison allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings, whereas Minnesota's Dylan Bundy gave up two runs on 5 hits in 5 innings."Our season started out pretty dang good for the first four months, and then it didn't happen for us in the last two," stated Bundy, who led the Twins with 29 begins. "We've got these last four games, and then I'm going to take a break before I sit down and assess everything that happened this year." After being shut out for the twenty second time on Friday — probably the most by an AL staff within the DH period — the Tigers solely wanted three batters to attain. After Akil Baddoo flew out, Riley Greene singled to proper and the ball acquired by Matt Wallner for a two-base error. Báez adopted with an RBI single. The Tigers added a run on Eric Haase's fourth-inning residence run, however Mark Contreras made it 2-1 with a lead-off homer within the fifth. Two of the following three batters singled, bringing Jose Cisnero out of the Tigers bullpen. He struck out Jose Miranda, however Gio Urshela tied the sport with a base hit.Miranda led off the eighth with a base hit, and the Twins put in Billy Hamilton as a pinch runner. Alex Lange threw his fifteenth wild pitch of the season, shifting him one forward of Shohei Ohtani for the major-league lead, and Hamilton took third on Urshela's floor out.WELCOME TO THE MAJORSBrendon Davis made his major-league debut for the Tigers, taking part in third base. He flew out in his first at-bat earlier than placing out twice.FILLING IN AS NEEDEDHutchison, who did not make his first begin till June 14, will end the season ranked second on the Tigers in each begins (18) and innings (105 1/3). The 31-year-old hadn't began greater than 5 video games in a season since beginning 50 for the Blue Jays in 2014-15. "Those were very meaningful innings for us," Hinch stated. "In a year where we've used 17 starting pitchers, he's been a guy who we've been able to keep in the rotation. He's someone who has started Opening Days in the past, and now he's been able to reinvent himself as a pitcher."UP NEXTThe groups end their season collection on Sunday afternoon. The recreation will begin at 12:10, lower than an hour earlier than the scheduled begin of the Lions-Seahawks recreation throughout the road at Ford Field.
Joey Wentz (2-2, 3.54) will begin in opposition to Twins prospect Simeon Woods Richardson, who can be making his major-league debut. [ad_2] Source link

Indians Essentially End Twins Season.
Twins 6 Indians 7 W-McCarty (4-2) L-Rodriguez (0-1)
The Minnesota Twins playoff hopes are all but gone and the team needs to look to the future to close out 2022. Josh Winder took the hill tonight as the Twins capped off a doubleheader in Cleveland. The Indians were ready from the start as Steven Kwan was in the foot to lead-off the first inning. Amed Rosario reach on an infield single and Oscar Gonzalez lined a run-scoring double to left. The Tribe had a one-run lead after an inning of play. Josh Winder and Konnor Pilkington put up zeroes throughout the early innings and the Indians got back to work in the fifth. Tyler Freeman drew a two-out walk. Steven Kwan lined a single to right and Amed Rosario smacked a Josh Winder slider out to right for a three-run homer. Cleveland took a 4-0 lead after five innings of play. Konnor Pilkington threw 5 2/3 no-hit innings until Jose Miranda broke it up in the sixth. The Indians kept adding on in the seventh. Steven Kwan started it all with a two-out double to right. Amed Rosario singled him home as the Indians lead grew to five. The Twins had some life left in them in the eighth. Jake Cave led-off and reached on an error by Owen Miller. Jose Miranda singled to right and Carlos Correa was hit in the finger by a pitch to load up the bases. Gio Urshela plated a pair with a single to center. Gary Sanchez hit a sac fly to right and the Twins were within a pair. With two outs, Nick Gordon belted a James Karinchak for a two-run homer. This tied the game at five in a blink of an eye. Neither team put up a run in the ninth and we needed extra innings. Neither side scored a run with the ghost runner in the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth innings. The Twins found something in the thirteenth when Gio Urshela and Sandy Leon reached on singles. With onne out, Nick Gordon hit a sac fly to right, but obviously it wasn’t enough. Amed Rosario lined a run-scoring single to center to tie the game and we needed another inning cause why the fuck not? Amed Rosario sent us home in the fifteenth when Jermaine Palacios couldn’t handle a grounder, which scored a run. The Indians ended the Twins season with a win tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Josh Winder did all he could. He went 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Jovani Moran got four big outs, Emilio Pagan had four outs and allowed a run, and Jorge Lopez struck out two over 1 2/3 scoreless. Michael Fulmer had a scoreless inning and Griffin Jax did the same. Dereck Rodriguez was brilliant, but finally broke in the fifteenth. He went 3 2/3 innings dand gave up two unearned runs with two strikeouts. Gio Urshela had three hits on the night and Jose Miranda added two hits. The Twins hit 3-for-21 with runners in scoring position and only have themselves to blame. They left thirteen men on base. Tomorrow, Joe Ryan will face Cody Morris in Game 4.

2022 CFL Odds, Season Preview and Gray Cup Predictions
Tumblr media
In the United States, football season doesn't move around until the pre-fall/late-summer. Football is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most famous game in the country.
Throughout the long term, we've seen a lot of lesser expert associations spring up trying to exploit the NFL's extended offseason. The UFSL, which appears to be bound for disappointment, is right now in the center of its most memorable season. Are easygoing football fans mindful of the USFL's presence? Likely not.
In the not so distant future, Canada's expert football association will start off its own 2022 mission. Dissimilar to the different American new companies that have traveled every which way, the Canadian Football League is one of the longest-running ace football circuits in the world. The 2022 season will be the CFL's 64th. 안전 토토사이트 추천
While by far most of the CFL's fanbase is naturally situated in Canada, there is a developing army of fans somewhere else all over the planet. These days, all of the highest level football wagering locales have CFL chances that anyone could hope to find for your examination.
Whether you're new to the CFL or a long-term fan, here's beginning and end you want to be familiar with the competitors during the current year's Gray Cup.
When Does the 2022 CFL Season Start? The CFL lobby will formally start on Thursday, June ninth. Similar as Major League Baseball, the past offseason was damaged by work conflict.
On May fifteenth, the CFL Player's Association really picketed after they neglected to settle on another aggregate haggling concurrence with the association. It was the principal CFL player strike beginning around 1974, yet the different sides struck terms on a conditional new understanding only three days after the fact.
The beyond couple of seasons have been shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic, however the CFL will get back to its commonplace 18-game timetable in 2022, traversing 21 weeks altogether. Regina will play host to the 109th yearly Gray Cup on November twentieth.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are amidst a dynastic run. The establishment brought home its twelfth Gray Cup championship with a 33-25 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats a year ago. It was the Blue Bombers' second sequential title, and they'll hope to turn into the primary group since the Edmonton Eskimos (1978-1982) to win three straight this season.
The Blue Bombers' +250 CFL chances and status as opening title top picks ought to amaze no one that follows this association. The Bombers began 11-1 last season prior to resting starters in the last two or three rounds of the mission.
Safeguard is the key for this group. Winnipeg yielded simply 13.4 focuses per game last season, which was one of the stingiest imprints in CFL history. The Bombers lost driving rusher Andrew Harris to the Argonauts in free organization this offseason, we yet realize individual running backs will generally be somewhat misrepresented in the cutting edge game.
The Blue Bombers' +250 CFL chances actually have a lot of potential gain. This group has just prevailed upon the beyond couple of years, and I see no great explanation to accept they'll stop any time soon.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (+500) The Tiger-Cats completed second in the East Division behind the Argonauts last season with a 8-6 record across 14 games. They safeguarded home field well (5-2), yet battled a piece out and about (3-4).
Hamilton made an unexpected race to the Gray Cup after areas of strength for a 1 completion over their last five normal season games. The Ti-Cats got a simple 23-12 success over Montreal at home in the East Semi-Final before a steamed 27-19 win at Toronto in the East Final.
Hamilton is seeking win the Gray Cup interestingly starting around 1999, yet it will not be simple. CFL wagering locales might be misrepresenting this group a piece after its unforeseen rushed to the last, and they're really one-point dark horses at Saskatchewan in the main round of the time.
The Ti-Cats' +500 CFL wagering potentials for success don't actually have out according to a worth viewpoint. 스보벳
Saskatchewan Roughriders (+550) Saskatchewan completed second in the West Division at 9-5 last season, two games south of the primary spot Blue Bombers. The Roughriders got off to a promising 3-0 beginning, just to lose four of their next six.
A four-game series of wins followed, nonetheless, before their 24-3 victory misfortune at Hamilton in the season finale. The Roughriders required extra time to move beyond the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semi-Final at home before a tight 21-17 difficulty to the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg in the West Final.
Regardless of a strong success misfortune record, the Roughriders completed only seventh out of the CFL's nine groups in focuses per game at 20.3 a season back. Saskatchewan will expect further developed play from 29-year-old QB Cody Fajardo, who got done with a 16:15 score to-capture proportion in 2021.
Toronto Argonauts (+600) On the off chance that you need a decent worth, the Argonauts' +600 CFL chances look pretty engaging. Toronto went 9-5 a season back to complete a game in front of Hamilton in the East Division standings. They shut the season with six successes over their last eight games, including a significant 31-12 win over Hamilton in the penultimate normal season challenge.
The Args had a first-round bye because of completing on the division, however they at last fell, 27-19, at home to Hamilton in the East Final.
McLeod Bethel-Thompson re-endorsed with the Argonauts this past offseason, and the forthcoming effort will be his fifth with the establishment. He ignored for only 2,300 yards with 12 scores to 11 INTs a season back, however he was held out of the end zone in the season finisher misfortune to the Ti-Cats.
Regardless of completing in the lead position in the East, the Argonauts have quite recently the fourth-best CFL chances of any group to win the Gray Cup in 2022.
Calgary Stampeders (+600) The Stampeders completed 8-6 a season back, which was great for third in the West behind Winnipeg and Saskatchewan. Notwithstanding, Calgary's 2021 was actually a story of two seasons.
Things got off to an unquestionably ominous 2-5 beginning that included misfortunes to the humble BC Lions and Edmonton Elks. Notwithstanding, they made something happen incredibly after their Week 8 bye.
Following the off week, the Stampeders shut the season with wins in six of their last seven games. They were surely supported by a matchup against a Blue Bombers side playing a large portion of its reinforcements in Week 16, however you can play the games on your timetable.
The Stampeders looked amazing in their two preseason games, but against more vulnerable adversaries. Calgary got a 41-6 win over British Columbia toward the finish of May before a 37-7 destroying of Edmonton last Friday. We can't gather a lot from preseason results, yet the Stampeders' +600 CFL wagering chances are enticing given the way that well they played to end the '21 season.
Montreal Alouettes (+900) The Alouettes went only 7-7 a year prior, yet that was sufficient to punch a season finisher ticket in the East Division. Tragically, Montreal would proceed to lose to Hamilton, 23-12, in the East Semi-Final.
Montreal didn't enter the postseason in that frame of mind of structure subsequent to dropping three of their last four normal season challenges. That was still adequate to qualify in the more vulnerable East, in any case.
On June seventh, lead trainer Khari Jones named Vernon Adams as his beginning QB for the Alouettes' Week 1 conflict with the Stampeders. Neither Adams nor reinforcement Trevor Harris played all that well in Montreal's new preseason prevail upon the Redblacks, yet Adams is possible the protected decision.  GET MORE INFO
He'll hope to return after a shoulder injury sidelined him until the end of last season back in October. Before the injury, Adams tossed for more than 1,900 yards with 14 scores to nine INTs.
Ottawa Redblacks (+1200) The Redblacks are one of the CFL's most up to date groups. The 2022 mission will be Ottawa's eighth in the association, and they'll be hoping to get once more into the end of the season games following a two-year dry spell.
Ottawa began the season with a strong 16-12 success over Edmonton, yet everything went easy from now on. The Redblacks lost every one of their next five after that before one more success over the humble Elks in Week 7. Six additional losses followed before a 19-18 win over Edmonton in the season finale.
That obvious the subsequent straight season where the Redblacks marshaled only three successes, however this group delighted in a lot of progress before that. Ottawa progressed to three Gray Cups in four years and won it interestingly back in 2016.
Previous Oregon champion Jeremiah Masoli will assume control in Ottawa interestingly in the wake of expenditure the last eight seasons with Hamilton. Masoli finished 20 of his 25 passes for 185 yards and two scores as a physical issue substitution for Dane Evans in the Gray Cup misfortune to Winnipeg.
With a more proficient QB under focus, maybe the Redblacks can at long last return to their triumphant ways.
English Columbia Lions (+1600) The BC Lions completed only 5-9 a season back, which would've been the most terrible imprint in the East Division notwithstanding the deplorable 3-11 Edmonton Elks.
BC really got off to a really great 4-2 beginning prior to winning only once in the last eight games. That solitary triumph came against, you got it, Edmonton, in the season finale.
Lions lead trainer Rick Campbell named Nathan Rourke as his group's starter for the impending season. Rourke filled in as Michael Reilly's reinforcement as a newbie last season, yet Reilly chose to resign.
Rourke's naiveté makes the Lions an undeniably challenging bet to trust at their +1600 Gray Cup chances. He tossed a bigger number of scores than captures in his two games as the starter a season prior.

Homer describing Burns changes from, “the stink of death, that yellowed wattle...” to, “smelling of death...nose like a vulture...followed everywhere by that kiss-ass Smithers.” Karen in Personnel changes to Kathy.

After Burns gives Homer the Joe Dimaggio card, he has an additional unused line in the script reminding all of the employees that they're working Christmas Eve. As aired he has a run-in with the aforementioned Kathy in Personnel that wasn't in the script. (Great change.)
So Kathy’s original name was Karen
