Super Zeroes - Main Poster
My hope, one of these days, is to become a showrunner. More specifically, I hope to be the writer/director of mostly animated works. I have a couple of original ideas, but the one that stands above them all is this one. It's my own take on the Superhero genre, and it's basic premise is "what if the Superheroes and Supervillains of the world faced the same struggles as the working class?" I'm hoping for it to have the same brand of action and tone as the likes of "Rise of the TMNT" and "The Last Airbender", among others. The main themes are that of class disparity, greed, personal fulfillment, and the virtue of doing good for goodness' sake. I'm going to start uploading character designs soon, but for now, here's the full premise:
In this world of magic, mutation, and major financial inequality, Nia Bulsajo, AKA Flying Brick, is a struggling supermarket cashier/part-time Superhero in a time where Superheroes are almost completely out of style due to a monopoly controlled by Dark Cowl, one of the richest men alive. But a PR disaster for Dark Cowl results in him coming to her to boost his image, something she accepts in a heartbeat. The only problem is that Dark Cowl’s a raging sociopath motivated by greed and little else, making actual heroism all but impossible. On the flipside, local Supervillains don’t have it any better. Volcanus, a powerful yet gentle dragon and an ex-henchman, is called by his old friend/master Skull Face to help get the latter out of his career-related funk, and perhaps get the old villain band back together. Driven by a desire for companionship and acceptance, Volcanus agrees. Either way, the resurgence of Dark Cowl and Skull Face grabs the attention of a whole cast of Superheroes and Supervillains. All of them have their own unique powers, unique motives, and unique failures. Can Nia rekindle the Golden Age of Heroes? Will Volcanus find the love and acceptance he desperately craves? And more importantly, is anyone actually going to care?
