Not only do Ingrid and Z have exponentially more chemistry, but they actually understand each other. Their moralities and outlooks and goals really line up. And Z is literally the only one of the three who actually supports Ingrid. Like anytime she is upset (and for valid reasons) the other two are just like 'you're pretty and smart it's fine you don't need to do anything just move on' but Z is like 'yeah you fucked up but if you're serious I will help you fix it'. Like the whole thing where he keeps saying that someone bad wouldn't feel bad about doing bad things. Z really believes in her, but he holds her accountable, and that is what she needs. It's so much better than the way the white men placate her to get what they want out of her.

#i didnt dislike nick but he moved way too fast and it was clear he had a vision of her and didnt really like it when she deviated #and neither he nor jeff make any effort to understand what it is like to be a woman of colour in america or a predominately white male firm #they actually are very good examples of the 'good guy' stereotype in that way #like they realize the way ingrid gets treated at the firm is bad but they just kind of shrug their shoulders about it #because it doesn't affect them so theyre just like 'it sucks but thats how it is'#todd is a good foil for both of them i think but thst needs more development maybe #she made them marginally better but ingrid and z make each other better and braver #zingrid #ingrid x z #ingrid yun #zi xin min #anti jeff murphy #anti nick laren #sort of but not really
