Not only do Ingrid and Z have exponentially more chemistry, but they actually understand each other. Their moralities and outlooks and goals really line up. And Z is literally the only one of the three who actually supports Ingrid. Like anytime she is upset (and for valid reasons) the other two are just like 'you're pretty and smart it's fine you don't need to do anything just move on' but Z is like 'yeah you fucked up but if you're serious I will help you fix it'. Like the whole thing where he keeps saying that someone bad wouldn't feel bad about doing bad things. Z really believes in her, but he holds her accountable, and that is what she needs. It's so much better than the way the white men placate her to get what they want out of her.

MCU Phase 5 & 6 Predictions and Theories

Clearly I’ve had too much time on my hands lately, but please feel free to reply with your thoughts and own predictions! Links to sources have been provided in cases where tweets, articles, or interviews are referenced!

**Quick disclaimer that these are merely my own theories and predictions, not necessarily what I want or hope to happen, but are based on patterns and predicted storylines.**

Regé-Jean Page as Reed Richards/Mr.Fantastic.

I am pretty sure that Secret Invasion tweet error was a copy/paste issue from a cast list provided to social media reps of cast members so he has likely been cast in something. However, I doubt it is Secret Invasion and it would not be a minor role, and he would be a perfect choice for the smartest man alive.

Cillian Murphy will not play Doctor Doom, but he will be cast in a non-F4 project.

Although he has been fancast by many as Doctor Doom and would do a great job playing the villain, I really doubt we see him take up that mantle. However, I do believe we may see him take on another anti-hero or grey character as that he would do just as great a job as. 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau cast as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.

This rumour has been circulating a while and seems the most likely scenario in my opinion, more so than other popular choices among fans such as Murphy and Cavill. Marvel has successfully cashed in on the Game of Thrones appeal of many actors in the past and they are sure to again. 

**Although Coster-Waldau is a phenomenal actor and would play a MCU villain very well, it must be noted that Victor von Doom is a Romani character and should in fact be played by a Romani actor. Yet as Marvel has unfortunately not been competent in their appropriately cast Romani or Jewish characters of actors of a shared heritage, I find it difficult to believe that this behaviour will be amended in time for this casting (which may have already taken place).**

Laura Dern in New Asgard.

We saw Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Thor: Ragnarok, giving us 2/3 of the original Jurassic Park trio, and both were set to be in Thor: Love and Thunder (but only Neill did as Goldblum’s scene was cut), I NEED DR. GRANT AND DR. SATTLER TOGETHER IN THE MCU. Possibly as actress Frigga in an Asgardian play? Maybe the Grandmaster could be in the audience?? I don’t care how this would happen as I don’t see Thor 5 happening, but it is very important to me personally that it does. (This is the only personal indulgence prediction I promise). 

Sylvie will die in Loki Season 2, Loki returns to New Asgard. 

Both of them won’t make it out of the next season, yet I see Loki being a more likely option to survive in this case as he would return to New Asgard as a whistleblower about how dangerous Kang has become. However, none of the Avengers would believe him until Scott Lang confirms following the events of Quantumania.

Valkyrie adopting a much larger role in the MCU, dates Carol Danvers.

As we are nearing the end of our time with Thor and Loki, Valkyrie will likely be our link to Asgard. It’s also about time they give our King a girlfriend, and it being Carol Danvers would make them the ultimate power couple. 

Nova announcement for Phase 6. 

It’s overdue that Nova be introduced into the MCU, and with the Guardians making their exit in May it is the perfect timing to introduce a new connection to the galactic aspect of the MCU. It would also possibly be something hinted towards or appear in a post-credit scene in GotG vol. 3, and be connected to Adam Warlock’s future in the MCU. 

Midnight Sons announcement for Phase 6 or 7. 

This one feels pretty obvious given the introduction of Moon Knight & Mr. Knight, Blade, Werewolf by Knight, Man-Thing (Ted!!!) and Elsa Bloodstone, we’re seeing much more characters falling into the darker and monster-related side of the MCU who are all tied to the Midnight Sons. In addition to the fact that other affiliates are likely being introduced soon, including Wolverine and Ghost Rider, and others including Doctor Strange, Wong, and Mordo already present, it is certainly in Marvel’s plans for the future.

Antony Starr cast as Dracula in Blade.

Another highly rumoured casting, this time based upon Starr tweeting about being busy with little explanation and other alleged leaks. He is amazing as Homelander in The Boys, so him undertaking a villain such as Dracula would be great.

“Ralph Bohner” revealed as Peter Maximoff, explains Deadpool and the X-Men’s introduction to the MCU. 

Given the possibility that Ralph Bohner is the member of WITSEC that Jimmy Woo was going to Westview to visit, a theory I explain more in depth here as WITSEC is not typically FBI jurisdiction, it would make sense that he will be connected to Deadpool and the X-Men entering the MCU, albeit with a different cast. Peter and Wade would be from the same universe, with the new X-Men being from another, thus explaining the discrepancy of having seen the first reboot of the franchise in Deadpool 2.

Daniel Brühl’s “surprise” return as Helmut Zemo in the Thunderbolts.

We were all expecting that Zemo was going to be in the Thunderbolts given that he plays a significant role in the comics, and Brül addresses this by reminding fan’s that Zemo is “not dead” and “even if he could [explain], he couldn’t” tell fans if he will return. Yeah, he’s definitely coming back. Marvel’s probably just waiting until the trailer drops or even hiding it until the film’s release to generate hype closer to it’s release. 

Okoye returns in Thunderbolts and Wakanda plays a large role in the plot.

Given Bucky’s history with Hydra, it’s difficult to see Bucky joining Valentina given her ties with the organization, leaving two scenarios plausible: he is not aware of them, or is a double agent. If the possible rumours that it involves a heist in Wakanda, especially considering how Valentina likely has a vendetta against them for aiding Ross in escaping, it is surely the latter as I cannot see Bucky so blatantly defying Wakanda after all they did for him unless there is a more pressing threat at hand (ie. in TFATWS/CAATWS). And, if this is true, a large threat such as the Hydra under the guise of the U.S. Government classifies it as that. 

Andrew Garfield appearance in Venom 3.

This is pretty popular, but considering his line in Spider-Man: No Way Home that he “want[s] to fight an alien,” it feels foreshadowing. That, plus the fan reception of his return and performance as Peter Parker, makes it natural that Sony would want to continue featuring him in their non-MCU universe, and have him face off with Venom or join forces against a common foe.

Milly Alcock cast as Gwen Stacy.

Another GOT/HOTD related casting prediction, Milly Alcock as Gwen Stacy is something I have seen discussed as a fan cast rapidly growing in popularity. And, as mentioned before, Marvel has historically favoured actors who featured in GOT, including Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, and Emilia Clarke in the MCU, with Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams in the XCU. Not only has she proved herself a great actress and bears a striking resemblance to the comic and Into the Spiderverse depictions of the character, but Gwen Stacy needs to be played as independent, strong and proactive in her behaviour. In her portrayal of Rhaenyra Targaryen, she has proved herself capable of portraying these traits as a strong female lead tenfold. 

Donald Glover Returns as Aaron Davis/Prowler along with Miles Morales.

Again, another pretty obvious development, but I do not think Glover’s role of producing and starring as the titular character of Hypno-Hustler, a Sony film about another Spiderverse villain, will impact his role as Prowler unless we explicitly hear him confirm that he will be handing the reins of the role over to another actor. And, of course, it is incredibly likely we see Miles Morales introduced within the next few Spider-Man films. 

Scott Lang is the one Avenger who remembers Peter Parker.

We know that there has been some exploration of the possibility that one Avenger remembers Peter Parker, and the one possible option is Scott Lang. It is through the Quantum realm that we know time travel is possible, and it may have been something being experimented with by Scott, Hope, Hank, Janet, and possibly Cassie, at the time of the spell being cast. We also don’t know what other kind of characteristics the Quantum realm may possess with regard to impacting how the spell may effect someone in it and/or absent at the time it was cast. However, this is just one of many possibilities. 

Hank Pym dies in Ant-Man: Quantumania.

Pretty self explanatory, but I think as this is most likely the final Ant-Man movie, especially with Paul Rudd, that one of their main characters will die and, since they just got Janet back, Hank seems like the most emotional loss for the other characters. 

Druig will adopt a more villainous role by the end of Phase 6.

I love Druig and Makkari so much, but in the comics, Druig is a villain that the Eternals fight against as well as being related to them. I don’t see them killing off Makkari and would be devastated if they do, but I think she may be injured or have something happen that would send Druig on a spiral. We would probably not see this until after Eternals 2 or the next Avengers films, but I fully expect Druig to have a character arc quite similar to Wanda’s.

Richard Madden returns as Ikaris in Eternals 2.

Arishem has the power to recreate any of the Eternals he wishes and, given that Ikaris was his most loyal follower and would be difficult both emotionally and physically for many of the Eternals to fight again, it would be in his best interest to bring him back.

My Thoughts:

My gosh.. what can you NOT say about the venerable magic wand? A mainstay of the past and a must-have of the Potter generation.. magic wands represent the essence of magic and magical endeavors. Some magicians would just as soon perform without their knickers as to walk onstage without their wand.

Wands may have been used by prehistoric peoples. Cave drawings clearly show men with sticks in hand, implying perhaps they were people of power. They were without a doubt used as early as the 1200s in both religious ceremonies and the occult. In Wicca, they were used to exert control over angels and genies. Since, they are used during the casting of spells, think Harry Potter, and in a gentler manner during the performing of magic.. as magicians are aware.

Traditionally made of wood, wands are commonly formed from oak, hazel, and other craftable woods. They are frequently carved and adorned to the liking of the beholder. WANDCRAFT is solely for wands used during the art of magic.  

Judge Gary Brown, a United States District Judge in New York, is very well-known in magic circles as both a writer and an inventor. Some of his original effects include Vikings "Spirit Trumpet" and "Telekinetic Chess", "Psy-Colony", "Believe", and "Double Boston Box". Some of his written works include "Al Flosso.. The Coney Island Fakir" and "Henry Slade and His Slades".. among others.

I was afraid I might be pushed to review something I found boring. That comes from having never used a wand. It's such a pleasure to be totally surprised. Judge Brown constructed WANDCRAFT in a way that made it highly interesting and entertaining from the first chapter. I certainly learned far more than I anticipated.. and have regrets only for those of you who will never read WANDCRAFT.

Short but concise chapters on wand theory, defining the wand, finding your wand, and ten powers of an ungimmicked wand served as a perfect beginning for folks like me.

Next, more detailed chapters discussed not only building tips, but actual effects, six in all, you can perform with your wand as the centerpiece. The Twenty Fiirst Century Anti-Gravity Wand and The Heartbroken Wand are two of my favorites. There's a wealth of information on tips, finishes, exotic woods and a chapter on Willard The Wizard wands and both their construction and handling. (Fairly easy to construct, they are made from a wood dowel and bullet casings..)

More chapters on the Deco Wand and the Rolled Card Wand follow.. plus additional effects. The Hoffmann Coin Wand, Turned Wands and Two Piece Threaded Wands are discussed and illustrated in detail. You can't ask for more..

WANDCRAFT ends with a final flourish and is followed by a lengthy bibliography sure to interest anyone who loves magic history.

WANDCRAFT is almost 100 pages long and is published by THEORY AND ART OF MAGIC PRESS and Larry Hass. I'm not skilled enough to tell you about paper and page thickness.. but it's plenty good enough! It's exactly what you'd expect of a thirty dollar book. (Hard cover. To my knowledge, not available as a soft cover.)  

If you have an interest in wands, the history of wands, or creating a custom wand, you will not find a better book. WANDCRAFT discusses different types of wands and tips, but does not go into deep detail about the physical construction of wands. If you want to make your own from scratch I assume you have some woodworking skills, or access to something or someone that can help you along. Don't let this deter you. WANDCRAFT will provide you with multiple options, and through a multitude of pictures help you envision what you want.. and why.

I am recommending WANDCRAFT to all my magical friends and Magic Roadshow Readers.

Sophisticated Political Correctness - Netflix VS Rassismus gegen Dunkelfen

2020  war bisher vor allem das Jahr, das wir alle am Liebsten wieder aus unseren Kalendar streichen würden, doch eine gute Sache schien es zu geben. “Community” fand eine neue Heimat auf Netflix, was gekoppelt mit mit einem Table Reading des Casts, die Chancen auf den Movie-Teil von #Sixseasonsandamovie zu erhöhnen schien. Doch seit zwei Tagen sieht die Sache vollkommen anders aus. Der 27. Juni hätte der Tag sein sollen, an dem man in Bezug auf Netflix vor allem darüber spricht, dass die 3. Staffel von “Dark” endlich abrufbar ist, stattdessen wurde es der Tag, an dem alle darüber gesprochen haben, dass Netflix die legendäre Community-Episode “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” aus seinem Programm entfernt hat. Netflixs Begründung für diese Tat: Die Folge ist rassistisch, weil Chang sich als Dunkelelf verkleidet und das Blackfacing and damit rassistisch ist.

Zuallerst möchte ich festhalten, dass das wohl bedeutet, dass wer immer gerade die Streaming-Rechte an “Thor 2″ gerade hält, dieser Film von dort ebenfalls wohl bald gelöscht werden muss, denn immerhin spielt Christopher Ecclestone darin einen Dunkelelf, und der ist unter dem Make-Up nicht mal asiatisch sondern weiß. Zugleich hat Netflix damit natürlich auch folgendes klar gestellt: Cosplayer, die sich Angehörige einer fiktiven Rasse darstellen, der sie selbst nicht angehören, sind Rassisten. RPG-Spieler, die Angehörige einer fiktiven Rasse darstellen, der sie nicht angehören, sind Rassisten. Ach ja, und Anti-Bullying/Anti-Fat-Shaming/”Worte haben Konsequenzen”/Mental Health Awareness-Episoden von beliebten Serien gehören gelöscht, wenn sie rassistisch gegen Dunkelelfen und alle Menschen, die einen Dunkelelf ansehen und sich selbst darin wiedererkennen, sind.

Die andere Möglichkeit ist, dass es irgendeinen Blackfacing Algorithmus gibt, den diverse Streaming Dienste einsetzen, der jede Art von Gesichtsverdunkelung erkennt und automatisch dazu führt, dass die Content, in dem das passiert, entfernt wird. Was nicht nur für die “Friends”-Folge, in der Ross einen Unfall im Bräunungsstudio hat ,schlechte Nachrichten bedeuten dürfe, sondern auch für “Mary Poppins”, sämtliche andere Filme und Serien mit Rauchfangkehrern darin, und alles, wo Leute Dreck im Gesicht haben.

Sobald der erste Ärger und die verletzten Gefühle verschwinden, und man die Angst, dass wenn das schon als rassistisch angesehen wird, doch wohl bald die ganze Serie von “Netflix” gelöscht werden wird, nachlässt, kann man vielleicht zu schätzen wissen, dass wir gerade live mitten in einer Episode von “Community” gelandet zu sein scheinen. “Community” hat immer gesellschaftliche Erscheinungen im Rahmen des Mikrokosmos vom Greendale Community College dargestellt und damit bewiesen wie absurd das Leben eigentlich ist. Und niemand kann behaupten, dass der Versuch tatsächlich existierende Dunkelfen davor zu schützen, dass ihre Gefühle verletzt werden nicht absurd wäre (vor allem auch, weil jeder, der eine Ahnung über Drows hat, weiß, was die mit Wesen machen, die es wagen ihre Gefühle zu verletzten).

In Wahrheit ist es aber so, dass ich sage “Bis hierher und nicht weiter”. Schlimm genug sich an “Community” zu vergreifen, aber sich an “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” zu vergreifen ist im Grunde ein Hassverbrechen.

In “Advanced Dungeons und Dragons” geht es darum, dass Nebencharakter Neil auf Grund der Tatsache, dass er von ganz Greendale “Fat Neil” genannt wird zunehmend depressiv wird und sogar das Interesse an seinem leidenschafltichsten Hobby Dungeons and Dragons zu verlieren scheint. Jeff gerät in Panik (aus Gründen, auf die ich noch sprechen kommen werde) und er rekrutiert den Rest der Lerngruppe für eine Selbstmord-Prävention-Aktion: Sie spielen mit Neil eine Runde Dungeons and Dragons. Jeff denkt, dass sie Neil dadurch, dass sie sich mit ihm befassen, sein Hobby ernst nehmen, und ihn daran erinnern, wie es im Freude am Leben zu haben, am Besten helfen können. Doch weil es sich um die Lerngruppe handelt, machen sie alles zunächst einmal schlimmer. Und hier kommt der angebliche Blackfacing Moment ins Spiel, der von der Folge durchaus gezielt eingesetzt wird. Um seine Untersützung zu demonstrieren verkleidet sich Chang für die Runde als Dunkelelf. Die anderen sind von dieser Tat nicht sehr begeistert aus dem einfachen Grund, dass das genau die Art von wohlgemeinter aber fehlgeleiteter Unterstützung ist, die Gefahr läuft der Person, die man eigentlich unterstützen will, das Gefühl  zu vermitteln, dass man sich in Wahrheit über sie lustig macht - Dunkelfen sind die auffälligste Rasse aus D+D, aber soll Neil wirklich glauben, dass Chang in Wahrheit immer schon ein rieser D+D-Fan war? Natürlich ist er misstrauisch: Auf einmal zeigt eine Gruppe, die sich großteils noch nie für Dungeons and Dragons intressiert hat, Interesse daran mit ihm eine Runde zu spielen, in der sie noch dazu jedes Mal übertrieben applaudieren, wenn er einen einfach zu tötenden Feind besiegt? Die Gruppe meint es gut, aber sie ist in ihrem Interesse nicht ehrlich, sie spielen nicht ernsthaft um zu spielen, sie spielen um ihm einen Gefallen zu tun.

Alle bist auf Pierce, den die Gruppe extra nichts von der ganzen Sache erzählt hat, weil sie denken, dass er nicht feinfühlig genug ist um Neil zu helfen anstatt ihn nur noch mehr zu deprimierend. Pierce fühlt sich ausgeschlossen und tut, was er immer tut, wenn das der Fall wird: er wird zum Superschurken, beschließt das Spiel zu gewinnen, alle anderen zu töten, wenn er gegen sie statt mit ihnen spielt, und lernt deswegen in Windeseile alles über die aktuelle Campagne und spielt passionierter als alle anderen. Und siehe da: Am Ende ist es Pierce, der Neil nicht wie ein rohes Ei behandelt, der an seinem Hobby passioniert teil nimmt, der Neil aus seiner Depression reißt. Pierce hat Neil die beste D+D-Runde seines Lebens geschenkt und entpuppt sich als verdammt guter Rollenspieler.

Allerdings enthüllt er auch den wahren Grund warum Jeff Winger so in Sorge um Neil ist. Aufmerksame Zuseher wussten, dass Jeff einige Folgen zuvor “Fat Neil” in Rahmen einer Ortsangabe erwähnt hat, nun lernen wir und Neil, dass es dieser oder ein ähnlicher Moment war, der dazu geführt hat, dass er in ganz Greendale als Fat Neil bekannt wurde. Jeff war der Erste, der den Spitznamen verwendet hat, dieser blieb stecken und wurde so gebräulich, dass er von Schülern und sogar Professor Duncan und anderen Lehrern verwendet wurde, so dass Neil sich dadurch zunhemend gemobbt fühlte. Jeff will Neil also retten, weil er ein schlechtes Gewissen hat. Er rechtfertigt sich damit, dass es zwei Neils gibt, worauhin Neil natürlich fragt, wieso er den anderen Neil dann nicht einfach Slim Neil oder dergleichen genannt hat. Und darauf hat Jeff keine Antwort.

“Community” ging 2009 an den Start und lief zu einen Zeitpunkt im Network-TV als sich nur die wenigstens Shows, die nicht von Ryan Murphy gemacht wurden, um Themen wie Bullying und Mental Health geschert haben. “Community” hat sich geschert - von Tag eins an. Wie das im gleichen Jahr an den Start gehende “Glee” ging es “Community” immer darum nicht nur Toleranz zu propagieren, sondern einen Schritt weiter zu gehen und Akzeptanz zu verlangen. “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” geht darum, dass es eben nicht okay ist, dass der fette Nerd Selbstmord begeht, weil er sich gemobbt und unverstanden fühlt. Es geht darum dass Worte Konsequenzen haben, und man sich dessen Bewusst sein muss, und man immer Wiedergutmachung leisten kann und aus seinen Fehlern lernen kann.

“Words Matter” Das erklären sämtliche Firmen wie etwa Netflix im Land der Freien Meinungsäußerung wo Hatespeech bisher okay war seit ungefähr einem Monat zu ihrer neuen Politik, keine Form der Diskiminieung wollen sie mehr toleriren, sagen sie. Netflix beweist wie ernst es diese Politik nimmt, indem sie schnell mal ein Stück Fernsehen aus ihrem Programm löschen, das für alle das schon ein Jahrzehnt vor ihnen gekämpft hat - weil es rassistisch gegen Dunkelfen ist. Oder niemand bei Netflix die entsprechende Folge jemals angesehen hat, oder auch nur weiß, was ein Dunkelelf ist, was Cosplay oder D+D ist, oder jemals verstanden hat worum es bei “Community” eigentlich ging.

Hey, ich gebe zu, es ist nicht einfach. Popkulturzitate und Hommagen im Minutentakt, mutliple Zeitlinien, wechselnde Formate, Diskussionen über Religion, Kultur, Wertvorstellungen, fiktive Fernsehserien und Filmreihen, sowie John Oliver mit Stirnfranzen mitten in einer Serie über die Struktur von popkulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Phänomenen mit der Serie in der Serie, einem Aspie-Helden, einem rappenden Donald Glover, und Chavy Chase als alten  Langzeitstudenten - da kann man schon mal den Überblick verlieren. Aber wer den Überblick verliert, stellt möglicherweise nicht den geeigneten Partner für “Community” dar.

Wir Fans haben gelernt andere Menschen zu akzeptieren, egal wie unverständlich sie für uns manchmal auch sein mögen. Aber es gibt Grenzen. Und Cosplay zu verbieten, weil es rassistisch ist, ist so eine Grenze. Wenn Netflix und Kohorten ein Problem mit dem Aussehen der Drow haben, kann man darüber diskutieren, aber man hat nicht das Recht eine beinahe zehn Jahre alte Produktion aus einer Zeit, in der noch niemamd ein Problem mit dem Aussehen der Drow hatte, für rassistisch zu erklären und von seinem Stream zu löschen, in der aus darum geht ein Leben zu retten.
