I’m like a vane when it comes to what kind of Larshen I want to see/read. On some days the wind points me towards platonic/togethership Larshen; on some days the wind points me towards romantic Larshen. It’s awesome, really.

I don’t seek togethership that will hurt me one day more terrible than not being together.

Salty ask meme - 11 and 12 for Precure!
This is surprisingly tricky but I WILL DO MY BEST
11. I’m going by Japanese character rankings here because I don’t know a better metric, but Mai, probably. (She got 50th in the last character poll.) People call her a clone of Honoka but I don’t find that fair at all, she has a completely independent arc and manages to contribute to her dynamic with Saki in her own independent way. I love the more artistic direction that they went with her and honestly she might be my favorite of the drawing-based Cures because it felt like she really grew the more briskly as the series went on, if that makes sense? (I do like Yayoi a lot but she gets far less focus; I think the least of the team? But I’d have to check again. That Miiight be Nao.)
I also like how she is more multifaceted with her additional love with science and how that plays into her whole family situation, while still not being Her Main Thing, which can be a trend with Cures at times, and the way they kind of played off her being new and slowly kind of growing more accustomed to both being a Cure and just being a member of the town and it worked really well for me.
Her interplay with Michiru and Kaoru was really good too! There isn’t too much about her I particularly dislike.
12. Hmm unpopular arcs… I admittedly don’t know many offhand? I guess the closest I can give is Siren’s arc in Suite. Like, yeah, it’s similar to Eas’, but honestly only superficially and the show is really clearly trying to do its own thing. I think there are a lot of refining that could have been done, but I think it has a good deal of charm to it and really does capture the spirit of the show really nicely, especially in terms of things like togethership and trust. It has a solid payoff (Beat is probably my favorite Suite cure) and I think at the end of the day it works pretty well.
And technically this doesn’t count as an arc but I hear a lot of hate for the first chunk of Fresh before… 15 or so and I just think a lot of that is unfair. The early stuff especially I think does a great job at establishing the characters and their dynamics. There’s a couple episodes I might want to excise (The Kaoru episode and honestly I don’t like the wig episode that much) but overall I think it’s really a good opening!
