thinking about a bajifuyu au where their first meeting is the same but chifuyu doesn’t get into a fight on his way home so baji is able to keep up his nerd act for a few weeks. they meet up every day after school to study and chifuyu winds up falling for baji anyway. he can't get that nerd out of his head. when killer bee shows up at school looking for baji chifuyu goes even more feral since he has no idea why they want to fight his nerdy bf

after the fight the cat is out of the bag and chifuyu is shook but even more smitten with his baji-san

if you don't believe me this would happen i got proof remember these panels from ch 67. chifuyu is already daydreaming about baji

and then this smile he gives him after baji yells at him

basically chifuyu would fall for baji in any au + i wanted to spread my nerdy bajifuyu agenda

I can’t stop thinking about the trauma of it all. I love how Wakui’s created so many complex characters and how trauma and grief run throughout this series and I think in a way reading this series and rewatching is helping process my own grief after losing my dad months ago but I keep thinking about Takemichi at the end of the manga and like…the trauma of it all.

I can’t stop thinking about how at the end of the day, the trauma of all of these timelines has got to come back and visit him—like, it’s gotta, and I can’t imagine it wouldn’t/there’s no way it doesn’t with everything he’s seen and experienced.

He’s witnessed so many people die, held people as they took last breaths, and been in so many fights and situations, like…surely Takemitchy post-ending has nightmares or panic attacks or moments when he’s just crying more than usual and someone has to just…be there for him and tell him it’s okay while he just breaks down over everything he went through.

And honestly not even just Takemitchy, he’s just outward with his emotions. Don’t get me started me on Mikey post-ending. Sure he seems fine and likely still bottles things at times and tries to smile, but those last couple of timelines when he gripped Takemitchy’s hand and when he actually held Takemitchy as the life left him, I’m sure there’s a night or two when it comes back to haunt him. Maybe he wakes up in a hotel after a race and just cries from the memory or maybe he texts Takemitchy just to be sure he’s alive, and Takemitchy does the same to him (he probably does that to a lot of them, really)

I just…I digress, but the trauma. All the trauma these characters have experienced in the past timelines I think way too much about, and Wakui gets into it a little but there’s still so much we don’t know, and so much room for more, but also room for interpretation and meta and analysis and discussion and fics….but post-ending?

With that ending I can’t stop thinking about the post-traumatic reactions Takemichi and Mikey may be experiencing and sharing with each other as they move forward (and back when they were growing up again) while carrying the weight of those previous timelines that may not exist anymore but were very much real for both of them.

and idk I’m rambling and this post isn’t in depth but I really love this series, the complexity of the characters, and the way trauma and grief, both spoken and unspoken, plays such a prominent a role, and after that ending, I can’t stop thinking about these two characters and the weight that comes with the bond they share in experiencing all of that.

Just noticed something about Izana and Mikey's outfit that's really random: I feel like the colors of their outfit represent them in a way-

Mikey is generally seen as a good, friendly person but secretly suffers from his demons/dark impulses. His jacket (representing his outer self) is white (symbolizing the happy face he puts up around others), while his tank top (representing his inner self) is black (obviously representing his inner darkness)

Izana is typically seen as a cold and ruthless character with no remorse, but deep down has some kindess and thoughtfulness. His sweater is black (representing the cold front he puts up), while his tank top is white (representing the care he has hidden).

Their pants color also contrast which I can kinda interpret as the color being the trait they hide from others; they bury this deep down within themselves (which explains why it's in the pants color because lower body duh)

Yeah it's just something I randomly realized while spacing out; I'm pretty sure someone else has pointed it out before me lol

It’s Chifuyu, sneaking up behind him and wrapping strong arms around Takemichi’s waist. He has to raise his voice to overpower the music but it still manages to feel intimate, his mouth right above Takemichi’s ear.

“Less lonely?”

Chifuyu laughs a little as he asks and the inside joke isn’t lost on Takemichi who sinks back into Chifuyu’s arms with a soft exhale.

“Far less lonely and far more drunk. A decent trade!”

“Nice,” Chifuyu murmurs. “You should kiss me once you’re sober, too.”
