Generalizing here, but when I see photos of common life in AES countries--especially those that have been socialist for several decades or longer--I find myself often thinking and feeling that they look happier.
That the scenes somehow have a little more joy in them when compared to parallel photos in the core. The art, the culture. All the little things.
It's not crazy to think about, right? Why wouldn't countries with higher general standards of living with bright futures and less of the mental, emotional, spiritual, physical etc. etc. poison of capitalism, why wouldn't the people who lived here not be a little happier on average? A little more whole, a little more at peace and natural and free?
And then, of course, the average political Westerner would probably read that assessment and think, "well, of course they LOOK happier, they basically have to smile or [insert bloodthirsty dictator] is going to put them in the woodchipper"...and that says a lot more about the Western psychology and state of being than it does about AES.
, , ,
Animals are not cynical...and no, it's not just "because they're stupid." Animals are not stupid.
Cynicism only makes sense to organic life if you live in a terrible environment. A dystopia. And the United States is the most cynical country in the planet, in every meaning of the word.

Heiii! A question about Toons just popped in my mind and I had to share the thought! Is Toon Town affected (or will it be affected) by the current economic crisis? As the news have been shouting for the past few months, inflation is knocking on each country's door, prices are basically sky-rocketing and our economy is colapsing because of a two-year pandemic and the war in Ukraine. I know you said that Toon Town doesn't opperate by US laws and basically has its own economy, but it's still connected to the entertainment industry, which will most definetly be affected by this stuff. So, I was wondering, since the Human World is kind of in deep shit at the moment, how are Toons dealing with it? Is their world as affected as ours? Are their news vocal about this issues? Are they scared by this current situation of war and economic instability? Or are they not as concerned with this stuff and just see it like "Oh, humans are doing something stupid. AGAIN. But I'm glad it's not affecting us."
(Sorry for the long question btw, hope it's not too much🥰)
They're not really bothered. Reason for that is that a lot of them have been around long enough to tune out the nonsense us humans get up to. Also all of them that are working have contracts with their respective companies that state they WILL be paid unless they're sick/the company goes completely under. Warner brothers/Disney struggling will not get them out of this contract.
Also Tune economics work completely different to human economics once you're actually in Tune Town. So if the companies DID go under then the tunes would just go back to the old fasion way of exchanging favours/jobs to pay for stuff, I.E.
"Ok Bosko, I would like a reservation at your restaurant, in exchange whenever you want, I'll wash your car/mow your lawn ext." Or using other trades like some tunes can sew clothes in exchange for stuff or paint pictures, so basically, they'll find a way round it.
So, the tune news doesn't touch human world economics or war because they don't want to give the older tunes flashbacks or make the younger ones worry. They focus on stuff within Toontown [of which there is plenty] for reports. The most they report on human world stuff is things directly related to the companies the toons work for.
Some of the toons are nervous and a bit scared, sure. But the majority of them are in the fortunate position of having either family members or friends to talk to about it.

Toon Summoned Skull ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 monster, while you control "Toon World". Cannot attack the turn it is Special Summoned. You must pay 500 LP to declare an attack with this monster. If "Toon World" on the field is destroyed, destroy this card. Can attack your opponent directly, unless they control a Toon monster, in which case this card must target a Toon monster for its attacks.

ADBK: Copycat
Tumblr media
Epithet: The Faceshifting Prankster
Voice Actor: Tara Sands
Tribe: The World of Toons, The Kindred
Biography: An unusual being, Jeremiah Copycat is a former Exodia student that loved pranking his classmates by imitating them physically and in an acting sense.
However, despite his immaturity, Stern Mystic saw great strength in Copycat, and has trained him on how to use his powers in a more constructive manner. Eventually, he became a Spellbinder, and even got a spot as a Toon World resident after saving Graverobber and Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon from a rampaging Mad Sword Beast.
