I am unapologetically me. Itchy bits n all...⚡️
For me, bringing awareness to skin conditions is extremely personal. It means that maybe someone else out there won't have to go through what I have. I hope by raising awareness I can change someone else's experience of living with a skin condition and hopefully empower them to feel more comfortable in their skin!

My eczema, then and now. I'm feeling very emotional looking back at what my skin looked like exactly one year ago today. I had just stopped using my #topicalsteroids and was going through the withdrawal symptoms that come with that. I've really been struggling with my #eczema this week but seeing these photos pop up has reminded me just how far I've come. Severe flare ups like that used to be fairly frequent. Although I clearly still have bad times they're nowhere near as bad. The mental struggle is the same to be honest but at least now the pain is more bearable and it doesn't look quite as bad. To every single person who messages me about my skin condition whether you're going through the same thing or are offering me your sympathy, I appreciate you and thank you. Having my eczema crew on here is like a support network that I can lean on and also help in any way I can whether that's understanding the struggle or sharing what works for me. Eczema, #psoriasis & #topicalsteroidwithdrawal is a nightmare to deal with to be honest, so if you can relate to any of this I FEEL YOUR PAIN. We've got this 🙌🏼 #tsw (at London, Unιted Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTVGxjloa9Y/?utm_medium=tumblr

Real chicken? Just say NO. #HonestBlob just eats @quorn_uk 🧡👍 Having a bad #topicalsteroidwithdrawal flare up today so eating a bit carefully. Kids, if you have eczema, never use topical steroid cream. Didn't even know it was a thing until it was too late! 😱 https://www.instagram.com/p/BwHeg9kpIOD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xli95heieaz2

I'm way into my third year of #topicalsteroidwithdrawal and still in hell. Makes me really tired and feel worthless. It was getting better ans now all gone within 2 weeks. Sometimes it's so hard to see the light at the end of this. The illness already took most of my life. The rest of it better be amazing or else... :D #tsw #redskinsyndrome #eczema #illness #depression #art #alterego #demon https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp5LslJnJ6_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jgxiyk1reqj5

Beauty! Had a mini allergic reaction to some sunblock I put on my face over the weekend. This has happened before and why I usually refuse to wear sunblock. I'de rather be burnt than this but whatever. Swollen, red, flaky and spotty. Currently not doing well at refraining from picking it, ha!

Not everyone who uses topical steroids will develop Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW)
corticosteroid safety
It is unclear why some people experience TSWS after using topical steroids and why others do not. This underpins the need for more research to unravel this issue and provide better support for those affected.
Every time I see Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) being discussed I am overcome with excitement which quickly turns to anger and sadness. Awareness on such a large scale is amazing BUT with no real action or change by places of power, it again leaves me feeling gutted.
There’s growing global awareness about the side effects of topical steroids, shared online, in the news and even warnings in pamphlets accompanying prescriptions.
Yet no real action or change. There needs to be action by the Government to address this issue, silence and lack of action are only contributing to widespread misinformation, online hysteria, and increased worry among those prescribed them.
Research on TSW is crucial to aid current sufferers and help prevent future cases. It’s time for tangible support and proactive research to alleviate TSW suffering and prevent future cases.
I've started a petition to hopefully address this and give us all some much needed relief from the overthinking https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/658458

Happy 6 Years blogging and to celebrate... An angry flare up!
After discovering Topical Steroid Withdrawal, ditching the steroid creams, regular courses of Prednisone and prescribed stuff to control and manage my eczema it has been slowly improving. Don't get me wrong it's been looooong winded taking years but if I look back I have definitely come a long way. There is no cure and ever since I can remember I've suffered severely with eczema especially on my face, neck, creases of my arms and the backs of my legs, which I still suffer with today and I have even gained a few more patches I didn't suffer with before that I struggle with now. However we do have the good days, my skin loves the summer sun and fun but these are the months I dread, the winter and cold and I am here to say I'm not having the best time as of late and am currently experiencing an angry flare up. My face, neck, stomach, my sides, my arms, up my back and the back of my legs are really struggling right now. Everything irritates, clothes, creams, the warmth, the cold, you name it! My skin to touch is so hot yet I am cold (as always) and no matter what I do my skin has become stubborn and has decided to do as it pleases and cause me hell. This morning was the worst I've been for a good few months to the point after having a bath and putting cream on the stress of the flare up brought on another panic attack :( I sometimes forget how bad it used to be and with having more good days than bad lately it hits me harder when I do have a flare up and suffer.
Over the past 2 weeks I have had a lot of stress with being late organising Christmas this year, trying to plan and pay for a wedding and on top of that on Friday I will be leaving my job of 4 years, the place I met my husband to be and will be preparing to start a new job at a different school, in a different area as from January 2024 so I'm pretty sure the above is the cause, and the fact I've had a fair few Gins this weekend to combat it all at a couple of family parties definitely has topped it off!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see I'm pretty inflamed, a little red and very sore which I haven't been for a while now so I am not a happy bunny and as always have taken to the keyboard to document this. With my wedding on the horizon come February 2024 it stresses me out that my skin will flare, I will look awful and it will ruin my big day but with finally getting out of a toxic workplace (despite having the best of friends who are a big support there) and training myself to try keep calm, I'm pushing that fear to the back of my mind and facing 2024 head on!
If you are suffering with a skin condition this winter please don't suffer alone, my inbox is always open and my social media accounts are always running. Speak up and let's face this shit together!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...
Xx

If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me, And the night will be the only light around me,” Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You, But the night shines as bright as the day; Darkness and light are alike to You. — This was taken by Neysa last year, and today I'm almost functioning like a normal person! 🙌🏼 #topicalsteroidwithdrawal #morelord #fourthyear

Great info for eczema sufferers like me. I use to us this all the time, but now just I use it to help relax. • • #Repost @eczema_warriors with @repostapp. ・・・ 💎 EPSOM SALT 💎 Also known as Magnesium Sulfate When used in the bath, this salt can have very beneficial effects on the body. Especially for those suffering #topicalsteroidwithdrawal Sulfates - stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are thought to help detoxify the body of medicines and environmental contaminants. Magnesium - aids brain health, heart health, regulates 325 enzymes in the body, eliminates harmful toxins from the body. Plus so much more! Start off with half a cup in your bath, see how you go, gradually increasing to more if you need. You may find your tired after an Epsom salt bath, this I attribute to the bodies energy working with the magnesium Sulfate to purge the toxins and detox your body. We as a society have much less magnesium in our bodies than a hundred years ago, soaking it up through our skin is the best and easiest way to nourish your body back to the proper levels.

Struggling with skin issues can take a toll on you mentally. I often would blame myself for my eczema when it wasn’t my fault. Neither is your acne or your psoriasis. I was constantly trying to satisfy other people and what they saw. Always trying products, never giving my skin a break. Here’s some tips I learned along my journey. Share any tips you may have too! Check out my video on 15 Tips to remember if you have eczema or skin issues. https://youtu.be/S_3a5FY3wTM Tip Breakdown 1. The journey is not theirs, it's yours. 2. You are beautiful. Your imperfections make you even more beautiful. . 3. your skin is NOT your fault. 4. Your body talks. Listen to it. There were days I skipped on moisturizing sometimes. Because my skin wanted to just breathe. 5. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. (You shouldn't do this anyway) 6. You are beautiful.
