#its so weird. i feel like march 5th went on for more than a day somehow. i guess that's just bc we were awake for just abt all of it#my dad wanted to start doing things immediately so he was calling and scheduling all day. we went to the funeral home we went to the store#and it was weird bc as we were moving around it was like wow we r a 4 person family now. this is it. and theres so much to do after a person#dies. or at least there is when they were loved so much and jesus christ my mom was one of the best ppl a LOT of ppl knew. she did so much#for so so many ppl. and with her childhood she had every reason to b a fuck up but no she was kind and selfless and amazing. her mother is#trying to bask in the attention of her death when its like: truely go fuck urself. her being such a good person has nothing to do with u. u#treated her appallingly. fuck off. and fucking everyone knows it. god. she is a product of her grandparents kindness. and it sounds like her#dad was amazing like her. but he tragically died in a car wreck when she was 3. she was in the car. no one in my mums family believes in a#god now. too many bad things happened to the shining gems in a collection of wild alcoholics. but its not all bad. my family's staying close#my dad is taking it hard bc this means hes alone now and my mum took care of so many things bc she was so smart and he feels so dumb. he#feels he didnt deserve her. hes working on giving more hugs now. and hes using us to anxiously talk things out the way he did with mom#which is good. i cant imagine if this happened when we werent 3 adults and he was windowed with 3 kids to raise himself. and its funny. were#saying things we never would have told her. we looked thru pictures of her and she was so so beautiful. a total smoke show. my parents were#a cute couple who produced cute kids. and my mom had trouble communicating and being affectionate tho we knew she loved us there was#distance. theres a pic of my dad pulling her close and shes being tippef towarf her while standing away and thats indicitive of their#relationship. they were 2 partners who lived together independently and that worked but its sad bc my mum couldnt b vulnerable in her#expression. ppl r being so kind tho. ill be in ohio now for like 2.5 more weeks as the funeral stuff shakes out. we have to have 2 bc she#grew up away from her and so many ppl loved her in both locations. she was a popular lady. its so weird to b here on pause. but i feel clear#in my head. i think this will change a lot of my outlook on life. its nice to focus on the person she was and not the horrible 12hrs where i#saw her half dead. i cant imagine how awful it was for my sisters and dad to see her downslide into death. she didnt expect this to b The#Fever that killed her but it did and now she'll never finish a million things. and the house is full of pill bottles and all her junk and#unopened amazon packages and a truck with the fuel left on empty. bc she was an absent minded goofball. ay. well miss her so much#unrelated

We're going to talk about our cool vampire guy headcanons again. We like to set Monsieur Scarlet as a member of Solenopsis invicta, albeit a very unconventional example of the species. As a fire ant, technically, he is venomous - however, he's not actually had venom production online for decades, and at this point the cost for Making That Bite Work Again far outweighs the perceived benefit.
Would it be directly useful for his survival to be capable of injecting people with venom that causes intense burning sensations? Yes, probably, especially since he's at a scale where the swelling induced would probably take out an arm for hours at a time. He's just not going to fix it, because that takes life force that he could be using for other purposes, like breathing, or keeping his heart running, or having an emergency teleportation stock so that he can fling himself a metre or two in any direction when need be.
#we speak#bug fables#he's brazilian#if you are familiar with this species then it may be because they are INCREDIBLY invasive in like. everywhere theyve been ported#it is partially a joke on how incredibly broadly our version of scarlet travels#hes probably run into a good few other colonies of his species but with how our hc awakening Works he might not have recognized them#and he doesnt precisely hang around long enough to learn about these things#generally members of the species would be a lot more pigmented but wizard biology is weird and scarlet is weirder#which is to say that he's spent a very very long time healing back damage with investments in life force#and cutting down the body running fund enough that he can try to exist in areas that dip below 20 degrees celsius#and these things in combination as it turns out kind of fuck up pigment production in a major way#magic changes your colors much in the same way that mutations usually work#which is to say “it doesn't necessarily change That Specifically but color is one of the least lethal things that can be altered here”#it takes relatively little to change pigment production and Being A Different Color is relatively unlikely to kill you#not that it doesnt affect your life at all but it will not kill you outright and thats really all that needs to be done#he started out a sort of red-brown color and then his carapace just sort of didnt darken like it should normally#and then he wound up on the run and he slowly color shifted to pink over the course of several decades#depending on which canon we're operating in he may have also just totally lost all pigment on one occasion#when he took an unplanned nap and then wound up horror movie-ing some random researchers after losing his higher brain functions#and also a lot of other general functions. like bodily ones. like producing pigment at all.#dont need that underground but he walked out into the light and got flashbanged and immediately decided to not do that again#as it turns out. pigment production is important for some things. like sun protection. you want to be capable of being in the sun.

Idk why but sometimes I have to send an ask to my friends or a message, just saying something random because they forget they have Tumblr a lot 😭
The real world is trying to take them 👿
I get that can be frustrating, but honestly it's normal for people to take breaks or go off social media for a while. Folks who've followed me for a while will happily tell you I'm liable to drop off the face of the earth for months at a time!
In my experience tumblr can become madly engrossing for ages then all of a sudden it's too much and I need a breather, especially as motivation and fandoms come and go. If your friends need that bit of separation but you still wanna hang out, try asking if they're good to chat on discord or over text!
And not to - for a brief moment - be as old as my knees feel, but the real world isn't half bad once you find your feet in it. Took me till I was about 25, but honestly life just gets so much better - I'm now happy enough that I'm using tumblr/social media to enhance my life, not escape from it! They might be going through that transition too, and best of luck to them and you :)

the problem with having semi-fixed my sleep schedule is that now there’s all this day i hear i’m supposed to do things with???
#the learned helplessness is SO bad i’m just like. sitting here blankly#it’s a LOVELY blue and green and breezy day#76 going up to 78#probably i should go on a bikeventure but the prospect sounds so exhausting lol#even though realistically the nice thing abt biking is like. if you get tired yr already sitting down#anyway usually i try 2 draw a bit of a veil over my total hideous uselessness#but i think like. if i can’t even admit to it anonymously on a site full of other strugglers how am i ever supposed to face or tackle it#and if you guys think poorly of me for it‚ well‚ it’s not like you’ll think anything more cutting than i’ve already thought abt myself#actually probs what i SHOULD do is finish changing over the tires on my bike#i got gatorskins last summer and swapped out one and then didn’t do the other‚ lol#and i’m pretty sure the remaining bontrager tire is like. FULLY punctured in spots at this point#could also stand to clean and relube my bike chain… might just cheat and use the combo product again lol#probs none of this would actually even take THAT long but i keep putting it off out of laziness#anyway am currently supervising feline yard exploration but like. could in theory multitask#slash eventually she WILL want to go in for lunch#but yeah tl;dr having even yr most harmless impulses hypercorrected from childhood on…#WILL eventually mean you stop trying to direct yr own life‚ or even being in touch with yr own impulses#you heard it here very not first#and when eventually the ppl controlling you either die or run out of preconceived hoops to chivvy you thru… you’re just. there. drifting#🍃

ive slowly been watching the 1955 movie of guys and dolls because it's one of those classic movie musicals im expected to know but it's so sexist it hurts to watch
#because of 1920s (and decades before) association of feminism and the temperance movement this movie has me agreeing with a missionary#but as well all know how tropes work she of course falls in love with the sexist gangster who asked her out on bet :)))))))#and he learns that maybe some women have individual value :)) and she learns ?? ?? to not be such a stuck up bitch??? i genuinely dont know#and that's just the b couple !#the a couple is this gangster has been refusing to marry his fiance for 14 years because she wants to ~change him*~#*have him stop his life of crime because the police are actively after him#i know most plots require conflict and growth to be intresting but also this is just sexist#and it gets lampshaded how sexist it is ! missionary lady is just like you probably think im some neurotic prude who needs a man#and b gangster is just like i dont think that :) *is totally thinking that. * the movie also thinks that#also she gets intoxicated without her consent! she wants to drink milk and b gangster is like oh here's some dulce de leche :))#dont worry there's only enough alcohol in here to act as a preservative:))#this is a fucking horror movie#also im sure i would like this more if it was a stage production with nathan lane as frank sinatra is the pinnacle of just some dude#with a title like guys and dolls i wasnt expecting a feminist masterpiece but it's somehow worse than i thought it would be

#im gonna vent a lil in the tags here#i have so little hope in life anymore haha idk wtf to do about it and it all fucking sucks#the likelyhood of me working full time ever again looks like zero#at least not traditionally#and i think part time is still far off like i cant stand working for so many reasons#im trying to get my shit together in a way so that my bf can be the sole breadwinner#because he can be at least at the moment because we live so far below our means but thatll change eventually#but im having such a hard time with everything like fr idk what to do#the weather isnt helping the fact my car wont work here soon in the wintet isnt helping the fact im not making money isnt fckin helping#i just lay here like paralyzed and in my own head or trapped on my fuckin phone and screaming internally#im so tired lol and i need to make money and the little i get from my sister for carting her kids around is nice but its gas money at best#i feel so bad about not working and my bf says its okay but i dont fully believe him like ive cried about it to him and everything#it sucks working but it also sucks not working lol straight up dont reccomend#when is capitalism finally collapsing so i can thrive on the barter system#sigh anyways im gonna wake up and be totally productive tomorrow or so help me
