Amazing experience with ITEP on the Inca Trail

We just got back from the 4 day Inca Trail hike. It was amazing. And the team from ITEP far exceeded our expectations. Our guide Jesus Rudolfo Validivia Zamora (Jesus) was absolutely the best. I would not even consider going without him again. He was caring and kind. Assessed our abilities and expertly guided us through the 26 mile journey. And all the while with a sense of humor and humility. 

He provided us with both guidance and education along our journey and I truly value and appreciated spending time with him. He joined us in camp and without us even asking he made sure that every need was met and that we enjoyed our adventure. Our team of porters was top notch. They made sure that everything was perfect. And I have to say that our Chef Sebastian was bar none the best adventure chef I have ever had the pleasure of traveling with. With very few resources his meals did not disappoint and were actually better than many that we had in restaurants. He fed us 3 meals per day as well as tea each afternoon. Each meal was unique, expertly crafted and delicious.

It was such a pleasure to travel with this team. They made the trip perfect for us. If you can ask for Jesus as your guide and Sebastian as your chef. This was an amazing adventure and these two made it perfect for us.

4 day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

The Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 4 days route is along hand-hewn stone stairs and trails through sumptuous mountain scenery and amazing cloud forest, past rushing rivers and dozens of Inca ruins. The zone is inhabited by rare orchids, 419 species of birds, and even the indigenous spectacled bear. The trek begins at Qorihuayrachina near Ollantaytambo- more easily described as Km 88 of the railway from Cusco to Aguas Calientes.

The 43 km (26-mile) route passes three formidable mountain passes, including the punishing "Dead Woman's Pass", to a maximum altitude of 4,200m (13,800 ft.). Most groups enter the ruins of Machu Picchu at sunrise on the fourth day, although others, whose members are less keen on rising at 3:30am to do it, trickle in throughout the morning.
