I have two tools to get students to reach their potential. ENCOURAGEMENT and SHAME. On encouragement, I buy lunch or dinner and I share my darkest life story with them. I also recommend movies for them to watch. On shame, it is calling them out in front of everyone. Some hates it but that's just me being honest with you . I always take a chance on each of them. This is because what am offering are things I never had. They are lucky to pay for it. So I take a chance on them just with the aim of making them not just models but those young people who understands life in a deeper meaning than just wearing clothes and walking down the runway. To me, if a student Cant learn from encouragement then I bring in shame ; and I don't care if you are going to be the next @msalekwek or @tysoncbeckford . I will tell you this, if you don't have respect for me, or yourself or the place for training then the best about you being able to explore the world is a journey you are not ready to walk. Most of the times my students gives me attitude after a little success and then they or their parents argue with me or say, " weren't you the one who to told me go out Letoya, and explore my artistry and find my own voice? " My answer to that question is this, " GREATNESS COMES FROM SUFFERING. From failing over and over until you bleed and cry. And then, finally , something inside just cracks open.! " You may think that you've got time darling because you are young, but time is not your friend. It is always coming for you, and for us all. It shows no mercy and it always wins , and then, just like that, you are gone and forgotten.
