James is so enthralled by the red-headed beauty on his lap, his mind no longer feels chained to the prophecy he’s had written for himself all these years. He’s no longer trapped by the claustrophobic feeling of someone seeing him so bare, physically and emotionally. He can openly watch this majestic woman drink in his body without feeling like he might vomit and escape. She takes her time, her hands wandering slowly, softly. He struggles to look at her face, his head still diverting now and then from the injured wiring in his brain but his body relaxes, enough so that he tenses beneath her - and this time in a good way.

Chapter 11

They don’t see each other for the next few days.  James feels her absence more than he expected - it’s an odd feeling of something missing, hollow and uncomfortable. Remus notices, and teases him a little for it, which ultimately makes Sirius finally question him.  “What’s going on with you and Lily?” His best mate finally asks. He can tell he’s been wanting to ask for days, he suspects Remus has been holding his tongue while James finds his feet.

“What do you mean?” James tries. 

Sirius gives him a specific glare, a look that seems to be reserved for when James is being idiotic on purpose (which happens more than you think). 

“Mate, you were in her room when we turned up on Tuesday. You both looked a little flushed…” He wiggles his eyebrows, making James' lips turn up slightly.  “Are you dating?” Sirius adds, taking a nearby chair and swivelling it around so he can sit with his elbows resting on the back. 

They’re back in the library, so James shushes him before replying quietly. 

“Can I get back to you on that question?” 

Sirius eyes narrow, “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” 

This time it’s Remus’ turn to shush them. 

Sirius ignores his boyfriend and instead glares intently at James, waiting for an explanation. James isn’t sure what to say, because they hadn’t exactly talked about what they would tell their friends. He figured they could see each other without explaining themselves, but he had forgotten that his best friend is the nosiest person alive and loves being smack damn in the middle of James' business. 

“It means, I haven’t discussed it with Lily yet.”

“So you are dating?!” Sirius whisper-yells, getting a short look from Remus across the table. 

“I don’t know what to call it,” James whispers looking down at his textbook. 

“Have you kissed?” 

He figures he needs to give Sirius something, so he nods. 

“Have you done more than that?” 

This time, Sirius' tone is a little more softer. Sirius knows about James, probably more than James even understands. So he’s not surprised that his mate is asking him such a question. 

“No,” James answers, looking up to find Sirius looking relatively relieved. He rolls his eyes before throwing a crumpled-up piece of paper at his face. 

Sirius dodges it (because this is just a dance between the two of them) and instead looks at Remus. 

“You knew, didn’t you?” He accuses, making James roll up another scrap piece of paper to target his forehead this time. 

It hits square on but doesn’t deter Sirius from the inquisition he seems to have started. 

Remus shrugs, unfazed by his boyfriend's dramatics. 

“Why did you tell him and not me?” 

“Can we talk about this later?” James asks him, seriously this time. 

His change of tone makes Sirius falter, his dark eyebrows furrowed as he takes in James' expression. 

“Fine, but you have to promise to not throw a fit when you find me and Remus making out on the sofa tonight.” 

James groans but nods resolutely, it's the least he can do…

you mentioned ashenivir and rizeth's birthdays a while ago, like shen spending his birthday on the surface in tpow and their zodiac signs, can i have exact dates? how do each of them feel about their birthdays? (we all know rizeth doesn't make a big deal of it but Why)

Ashenivir's birthday is Flamerule 14, 1360DR (so now you can reverse engineer basically any date you want in TPOW asdjasldkj). He likes his birthday well enough, but he's also not super fussed about it being a big thing. I think that most of his life, other people have generally made a bigger deal of it than he has - his mother, showing off what she can do for a celebration; Keszriin, with her love of parties and celebrations; a couple of bedmates, finding out and using it as an excuse to treat him Specially.

Rizeth remembering his birthday is a lot more meaningful. He still doesn't really care about big, fancy celebrations though.

(In a perfect world, he'd celebrate his 'rebirthday', from when he did the changedance, but unfortunately Matron Zauvym kind of tainted all of that.)

Rizeth's is Marpenoth 23, 1120DR, and he doesn't make a big deal of it because imo i don't think that birthdays - particularly of males of low-middling importance - were a Thing really in Menzo. He's also just not really a 'celebrate a date' kind of person in general; i think he finds the idea of doing a bunch of stuff just because this was the day he happened to be born faintly ridiculous

Celebrating Ashenivir's birthday, on the other hand - vitally important. Definitely not a thing he wants to forget, and it's entirely and only because Ashenivir is the Most Special Precious Important Boy In The Whole Entire World and if Rizeth forgot his birthday (now that they're like. together) he'd be sad and that would be a catastrophe.

Ashenivir wants to celebrate Rizeth's birthday more than Rizeth does because it's yet another way to appreciate his Master/lover. Rizeth tolerates whatever things Ashenivir wants to do - within reason - because it's Ashenivir. What else is he gonna do?
