While I was out of town my boss pretty clearly got in a fight with one of my coworkers about overtime and billable hours and that has led to him being a petty little pissbaby about "complying with california law" by having us fill out time sheets because boss was utterly incapable of finding the middle ground between "you must track every second of your time in order to be paid for it" and "the technicians who make $60k a year are salaried and therefore are not entitled to overtime."
"Salaried employees can be non-exempt and therefore earn overtime if working for more than 8 hours a day but also are in a position where they can be trusted to take a few extra minutes at lunch or may stay after closing time occasionally without requiring overtime" doesn't seem like a very fine needle to thread but he is absolutely incapable of threading it.
For *years and years* now he has used himself as an example of the right way to be "on time." He's told us about going to his job as a kid and getting there five minutes early every day just to prove to his boss that he really wanted the work.
Anyway, I just got a lecture on how I'm not supposed to clock in even a minute before my start time, nor am I to cut my lunch short, nor am I to stay late to finish things up; he wants me in here for eight hours a day *exactly* and is now so hell-bent on micromanaging everyone's start and end times that he was late to a client meeting earlier because he was looking over time sheets.
Sir, you have played stupid games and you have won stupid prizes. You should have just paid the techs their fucking overtime.
He's being so petulant about this and it's so fucking funny. None of us feel bad for you bro. You are wage theft georg and the spiders have come home to roost. It is very much worth the potential few dollars of time I'll lose each week to see you tie yourself up in knots about whether I stayed two minutes late on wednesday to answer a customer's question.

I actually have no goddamn idea how long it takes to write a novel because my records are insufficiently granular to determine that information. I can tell you approximately how many months or years passed between when I started and when I decided I was done, but it's not like I'm tracking billable hours here.

I am near tears, and consequently so fucking mad, about the state of our digital environment right now. (Hi mom!)
For backstory, I am a pretty good programmer. My mother is one of the smartest people I know - I... think I am smarter? But I wouldn't put money on it.
"STEM bro think's he's smart, is also a mama's boy" - ok fair, so for social proof:
She splits her time between consulting and writing advisory papers for government policy now that she's sold her part of the company and "retired," and me, you might have seen if you trawl youtube looking for people giving programming talks to live audiences.
But I mean. She is retired. Past retirement age really.
And I spent all afternoon helping her set up her new computer, through a mess of password policy stuff, harddisk encryption, google and microsoft unexplained-and-unexplainable 2FA account bullshit, the whole fucking works.
And we got there. We got there.
By which I mean "After three or four hours of getting help from what would otherwise be stupidly expensive billable hours, one of the smartest women in the country finally succeeded in not losing all of her very important accounts during a computer replacement." My dad was barely any help at all despite an entire career of using computers - he stopped 10 or 15 years ago and he's out out.
This is what we offer people? This is what we require of people, if they want to participate in modern society?
How the fuck does anybody survive this? How do regular people manage their insurance, or track their car payments? How the fuck do less skilled people even make it through the day?
Watching the helplessness on my mother's face at one point this afternoon near broke me.
Huh, writing that last paragraph knocked something loose - update the first paragraph of this post, I am not "near tears" I am in fact crying. Guess I found out what it was that bothered me the most.
I don't think it changes anything though - so I'm sad for my mother, but I am mad that this is where we are taking the world - colossal and uncaring automated systems that can change on a dime without your input or acceptance but whose works you must submit yourself to if you want anything but a cold log hut in the middle of nowhere.

What are 3 examples of indirect costs?
Navigating the financial structure of a business is an essential skill for professionals aiming to succeed, especially in fields like personal injury law. In Tucson, personal injury attorneys must manage both direct and indirect costs effectively to maintain operational efficiency and provide exceptional client service. While direct costs are straightforward, indirect costs often require a deeper understanding as they encompass expenses that support the overall functioning of a firm.
Indirect costs might seem less obvious, but they are equally important in shaping a law firm's ability to succeed. These expenses, which are not tied to any specific client or case, play a critical role in sustaining a professional and productive environment. By managing these costs effectively, law firms can maintain profitability and streamline operations, enhancing their ability to meet client needs.
This article will explore three common examples of indirect costs relevant to law firms, offering insight into how these expenses influence day-to-day operations. Understanding these cost categories can help law firms in Tucson refine their financial strategies, ultimately benefiting both the firm and its clients.
Understanding Indirect Costs
Before diving into specific examples, it’s crucial to define what indirect costs are. These expenses are necessary for the overall operation of a business but cannot be directly traced to any one case or service. They support the broader structure of the firm, ensuring that attorneys and staff can work efficiently and provide high-quality service.
For personal injury attorneys in Tucson, indirect costs are an essential consideration. Effectively managing these expenses can improve operational efficiency and create a professional atmosphere that benefits both clients and the firm itself.
Examples of Indirect Costs
1. Administrative Salaries
Administrative salaries represent a significant portion of indirect costs. This includes compensation for office managers, HR staff, and administrative assistants who handle the firm's daily operations but are not directly billable to clients. These roles are indispensable for ensuring smooth workflows, managing schedules, and maintaining client communication.
When law firms invest in skilled administrative staff, they create an environment where attorneys can focus solely on their cases. For Tucson personal injury attorneys, this investment often translates into improved case outcomes and better client satisfaction.
2. Office Utilities and Rent
Maintaining a functional office space is another indirect cost that plays a vital role in a law firm’s operations. Expenses like rent, electricity, internet, and water bills are necessary to provide a professional and welcoming environment for clients.
For personal injury law firms in Tucson, having a well-maintained office can leave a positive impression on clients, enhancing their overall experience. A professional setting not only supports client trust but also reflects the firm’s commitment to quality service.
3. Marketing and Advertising
Marketing and advertising efforts, such as maintaining a website, running social media campaigns, or producing promotional materials, are also categorized as indirect costs. These activities help law firms attract new clients and maintain a visible presence in the community.
Strategic marketing initiatives can benefit Tucson-based personal injury attorneys by building their reputation and expanding their client base. Although these costs are not tied to specific cases, they contribute significantly to the firm’s long-term success.
Why Managing Indirect Costs Matters
Understanding and managing indirect costs is essential for law firms looking to optimize their operations. These expenses form the backbone of a firm’s ability to deliver consistent and high-quality services. By tracking indirect costs, Tucson personal injury attorneys can create more accurate budgets and allocate resources effectively.
Additionally, a firm’s ability to manage these expenses can directly impact its pricing strategies, ensuring competitive rates for clients while maintaining profitability. Indirect costs also play a role when law firms seek partnerships or funding, as transparency about financial management builds trust and credibility.
While indirect costs may not always be visible, they are integral to the success and efficiency of law firms. From administrative salaries to office expenses and marketing efforts, these costs support the foundational operations that enable Tucson personal injury attorneys to deliver exceptional service.
If you’ve been injured and need expert legal representation, consider reaching out to a personal injury attorney in Tucson who understands the importance of professionalism and operational excellence. Don’t wait—seek the support you deserve today.

New work ick - submitting timesheets. I got the work done successfully. I don't need to recount what I did for every hour of work day, especially when my time is not billable. It's internal work so it doesn't really need to be tracked! I forget to do them and then have to submit a bunch at once. Nuisance

Why Digital Marketing Agency Matters to Your Business
World being a digital place, nobody does not wish to compete with one another because it builds itself into a business. Which might be rather easy with such tough competition around in this rapid change in the digital marketplace. This is the very reason why many companies use digital marketing agencies in order to gain more visibility in the virtual space and hence establish a momentum for their business. Now, so what is a digital marketing agency and why do any organizations need it? Let's discuss its key advantages and services.
What is a Digital Marketing Agency?
A firm with experts in each stage of digital marketing is known as a digital marketing agency. They try to reach the desired market target with creating brand awareness and revenues generated by effective digital marketing plans developed by them suitably. They use high-end tools and technologies for designing a suitable campaign on more than one channel, which include social media, search engines, email, and websites.
Core Services a Digital Marketing Agency Must Have
A good digital marketing agency should ensure that not any aspect of the digital marketing service goes unattended by offering different kinds of services to the clients. This may include:
SEO. Also known as web optimization, the top ranking on SERPS, perhaps, is the best gauge of how visible a website is. Therefore, agencies do keyword research; optimize on-page content and build backlinks that help your website gain organic traffic.
Pay per Click Advertising, PPC: PPC campaigns include Google Ads and create quick traffic to the website. The agency optimizes how the money spent in advertisements to ensure the reach of correct people and optimal ads' optimization towards conversion.
Social Media Marketing. Agencies run a paid campaign on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and every other space; business creates the ability to interact with the audience to develop a sense of brand loyalty.
Content Marketing: The best digital marketing is a great base of content. Blog posts, videos, infographics, and all other things are developed by an agency to attract and retain customers.
Email marketing. This has been there from the beginning of when digital marketing was at its start; it is still standing good as one of the most productive strategies. Agencies come up with campaigns to nourish leads and sell more.
Web Design and Development: Be your business small or big, your website has to be user-friendly as well as looking good. Agencies ensure that your site is optimized aesthetically as well as functionally.
Analytics and Reporting: It is quite crucial to track the performance of marketing campaigns. Agencies provide in-depth analytics and reports of ROI evaluation and data-driven decisions.
Why Hire a Digital Marketing Agency
Here are good reasons why partnering with a digital marketing agency is the right move:
1. Exposure to Expertise
This means that digital marketing covers all from graphic design to analytics. Here, a digital marketing agency has experts who have specialized in particular areas so your campaign is addressed by the professionals.
2. Cost-Effective
Engaging an in-house marketing team is expensive, especially to small-sized business concerns. The agency places an entire team of professionals right in front of you, without requiring a quarter of their billable amount.
3. Focus on core Business Activities
Time spent in the process of marketing campaigns is nothing short of monumental at its core. You’re getting freed off of your list, or even just simply transferring the follow-up work of marketing campaigns off of you are delegated by hiring a digital marketing agency.
4. Scalability
With how fast businesses are growing, does that mean that the need to expand one's marketing requirement. This is exactly what a digital marketing agency can do-to scale services upward when it's needed without having to hire more employees in your book.
5. Catch the Trends
Organizations keep side by side of the most recent patterns and advances to keep your trade ahead of the competition.
Not all agencies are the same, and it is always important to find a suitable one that aligns with your goals. Here are some tips:
Check Their Portfolio: Look into their past work to find out whether they have the experience needed in your industry.
Read reviews and testimonials: This is one of the best ways to know their dependability and effectiveness.
Ask them how they approach: the right agency will address it in a customized way with you not that blanket one-size-fits-all package.
Transparency: Keep them communicating and always apprised of your performance.
Digital marketing agencies no longer exist as luxuries but instead as a need in today's world of advancing technology. Expertise would be very well in line with cost effectiveness, while innovation would bring strategies together. Companies can navigate through these apparent online marketing complexities; it would be either for branding awareness, lead generation, or even to enhance sales.

QuickBooks is one of the most widely used accounting platforms for small to medium-sized businesses. CosmoLex integrates these features into one platform, making it an all-in-one solution.
3. CosmoLex vs. Xero
Xero is a well-known accounting software designed for a broad range of businesses. While it offers great financial management tools, it lacks the legal-specific features that CosmoLex has, such as trust accounting compliance and client matter management. For law firms needing specialized accounting and practice management, CosmoLex is the more comprehensive option.
Pros and Cons of Using CosmoLex
Pros:
All-in-One Platform: Combines accounting, time tracking, and client management.
Trust Accounting Compliance: Ideal for law firms that need to manage client trust accounts.
User-Friendly Interface: Easy to navigate, even for those without an accounting background.
Seamless Integration: Works well with payment gateways and other third-party tools.
Automated Features: Time-saving automation for bank reconciliation, billing, and reporting.
Cons:
Cost: CosmoLex can be more expensive compared to simpler, non-specialized accounting software.
Learning Curve: While the interface is user-friendly, new users may still need time to familiarize themselves with all the features.
Not Ideal for Non-Legal Firms: The software is best suited for law firms and may not provide enough value for businesses in other industries.

From trust accounting compliance to integrated time tracking and billing, CosmoLex provides the tools needed to manage the financial and operational aspects of a law firm effectively. All my very successful career I’ve been one of those people who fucks around for hours then accomplishes an astonishing amount at speed.
This is fine except when it rubs up against time tracking. Time tracking assumes that productivity = hours spent.
My department is going all in on tracking billable hours to specific projects. My group acts as a global function that touches a bunch of projects in any given meeting and also makes decisions that will cascade to all projects.
We’re now being told that if we discussed five projects during a meeting we should each bill time to each of them.
I barely sustain time tracking as it is and this is miserable. I’m going to have to get one of those productivity toys where I just track in real time. But then we also have to assign a specific category of work so it’s going to be so much fun. Especially because seriously fuck around for three hours then complete all my tasks for the week is not traceable this way.
Oh. And we have two separate timesheets to complete. For reasons.
The thing I hate most is that I’ve obviously excelled at my work and I am very good with so called soft skills too, but it’s over two decades of just having to straight up lie about how I work because 40 hours is mandatory.

Philadelphia Bookkeeping
Philadelphia Bookkeeping That Helps You Grow with Confidence
If you’re a business owner in Philadelphia, you know just how fast the numbers can pile up — invoices, receipts, bills, payments, payroll, taxes. Trying to keep up with it all while also growing your business? That’s a full-time job on its own. That’s why Philadelphia bookkeeping is one of the smartest investments you can make.
Your books aren’t just a record of what’s happened. They’re a roadmap to where you’re headed. The right bookkeeping services help you stay compliant, gain visibility into your cash flow, reduce your stress during tax season, and make better decisions every single month.
Bookkeeping Is the Backbone of Business Clarity
Whether you’re running a solo operation or managing a full team, one thing is always true: your books need to be accurate and timely. Bookkeeping is how your money talks to you. If you’re not listening to what the numbers are telling you, you could miss warning signs, overlook growth opportunities, or end up paying more in taxes than you need to.
When you invest in quality Philadelphia bookkeeping, you get more than neat spreadsheets. You get the confidence that your business is running smoothly behind the scenes — even while you’re busy serving customers or managing operations.
The Most Common Bookkeeping Mistakes Business Owners Make
Many business owners don’t realize how much time and money they’re losing by trying to do it all themselves. Some common pitfalls include:
Failing to reconcile accounts monthly
Losing track of deductible expenses
Misclassifying income or payroll items
Forgetting to follow up on unpaid invoices
Waiting until tax season to “catch up” the books
Using outdated software or manual methods
When these issues stack up, the results can include cash flow problems, higher tax bills, or even an audit. Philadelphia bookkeeping services from a dedicated firm like OnPoint Partners can help you avoid these problems and stay ahead.
Why Local Businesses Choose Philadelphia Bookkeeping Over DIY
The DIY approach might seem cheaper at first, but it quickly turns into an expensive distraction. If you're spending hours each week managing your own books, that’s time you’re not spending on marketing, sales, product development, or customer service.
Outsourcing your Philadelphia bookkeeping means:
Fewer mistakes and late payments
More time to focus on your strengths
A better chance at securing business funding
Cleaner tax preparation
Increased confidence in your financial reporting
And when your books are done by someone who actually understands Philadelphia business trends and tax rules, your numbers become more powerful than ever.
Industry-Specific Bookkeeping Matters
Not all businesses are built the same — and neither should their bookkeeping be. Whether you’re a contractor, consultant, restaurant owner, or ecommerce seller, you need bookkeeping that fits your unique business model.
Retail & eCommerce businesses need help managing inventory, merchant fees, and online platform reports. Construction companies deal with subcontractor payments, job costing, and fluctuating material costs. Professional services need accurate tracking of billable hours, client invoicing, and payroll. Healthcare professionals require support with insurance billing and HIPAA-compliant financial records.
OnPoint Partners offers Philadelphia bookkeeping services that match your rhythm, speak your language, and support your goals.
Cash Flow Is King — But Only If You Can Track It
One of the biggest advantages of effective bookkeeping is visibility into your cash flow. Are you making money, or just moving it around? How much do you have left after paying vendors and employees? Is a big tax bill going to hit when you least expect it?
Philadelphia bookkeeping gives you clarity. When you understand how much cash is actually available at any time, you can avoid shortfalls, take advantage of strategic opportunities, and build with confidence.
Cloud-Based Bookkeeping Gives You 24/7 Access
Today’s bookkeeping solutions don’t require you to dig through filing cabinets or search old inboxes. Cloud-based tools now give you access to your financial reports from anywhere.
With secure platforms like QuickBooks Online or Xero, you can:
View reports from your laptop or phone
Upload receipts in real time
Track invoices and payments automatically
Collaborate with your bookkeeper without delays
Modern Philadelphia bookkeeping is about more than compliance — it’s about convenience, accuracy, and control.
Tax Season Without the Panic
There’s nothing more stressful than scrambling through receipts, spreadsheets, and mismatched totals the week before taxes are due. With professional Philadelphia bookkeeping, every transaction is already categorized, every deduction is documented, and every number is where it should be.
This not only reduces your stress but also helps your accountant do a better job — which means fewer errors and potentially bigger savings. According to the IRS, maintaining accurate and complete records can directly reduce the risk of audit triggers and penalties.
Who Should Use Philadelphia Bookkeeping Services?
If you’re asking that question, the answer is probably: you.
Philadelphia bookkeeping isn’t just for big corporations. It’s for:
Side hustlers and freelancers
Small business owners
Family-run shops
Startups and high-growth companies
Established firms scaling up
If you’re bringing in income, paying vendors or staff, or planning to file taxes, you need clear, up-to-date books. Period.
Don’t Let Bookkeeping Hold You Back
When your books are disorganized, it’s not just a minor issue — it becomes a constant source of anxiety and decision fatigue. But with the right Philadelphia bookkeeping team on your side, your finances become your advantage.
At OnPoint Partners, we help business owners like you keep it together — not just financially, but mentally too. You shouldn’t have to wonder if your numbers are right or stress every time you open your bank app.
We take the weight off your shoulders so you can focus on building, selling, serving, and growing.
Hire OnPoint Partners for Philadelphia Bookkeeping That Makes Sense
You’ve got enough on your plate. It’s time to hand off the numbers to someone who knows how to handle them.
Let OnPoint Partners be your go-to for Philadelphia bookkeeping that’s simple, accurate, and aligned with your growth. We care about your business like it’s our own — because your success is the point.
