Allusion, 2017 22/32 14" x 18" 4 colour reduction woodblock print The design was inspired by James Jean (@jamesjeanart), specifically pieces such as Adrift which feature a bold, patterned background using "warm" colours, and a flowing foreground in tones of blue and aqua. Symbolism is prominent in this print and can be found in each aspect of the design. This was my first multiple color print, my first large(er) edition, and my first reduction print. It is also the only work I have that has been directly/specifically influenced by another artist. #RP @thegeneralstoreinc young! X2 for life. ・・・ What y'all know about Kokamoe? If you're like me and have taken the X2 a couple of times in dc you've probably seen and heard Kokamoe. For some he's an acquired taste. For others he provides full on entertainment if you happen to travel from Minn Ave to Chinatown. I actually prefer the bus over the train so over the years I've witnessed Kokamoe's friendly and hilarious freestyling on many occasions. No like really he actually freestyles as in makes up rhymes off the top. Lost art. Anyway I've seen Kokamoe have an entire bus full of folks laughing and smiling. I never knew there was a profile written about him until I discovered this Post article with video by the great Sarah Godfrey. Imagine if there was someone like Kokamoe on every train or bus in DC. Hmm. On second thought there can only be one Kokamoe. Cheers to Kokamoe. By the way @goldlink has a song on his latest album paying homage to and titled after Kokamoe.
