Hell's Paradise doesn't quite reach the heights of Chainsaw Man, but it certainly outshines Jujutsu Kaisen in the Dark Shonen Trio lineup. Its relatively short run didn't afford it the opportunity to amass the same viral fan base as its counterparts.

One could argue that its brevity hindered its potential for widespread popularity, a fate that Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen deftly avoided.

While the anime adaptation of Hell's Paradise isn't "trash," it fails to reach the pinnacle of animation quality set by the likes of Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Attack on Titan.

In an era where top-tier animation reigns supreme, being merely "good" doesn't quite cut it.

However, it's undeniable that Hell's Paradise boasts exceptional artwork in its manga form. The character design in particular is a standout feature, very creative.

The Kishikai forms within Hell's Paradise are nothing short of masterpieces, showcasing a level of artistry rarely seen in manga. In a landscape saturated with cookie-cutter character designs, Hell's Paradise dares to push the boundaries, delivering truly memorable and visually captivating characters.

While Hell's Paradise possesses the fundamental elements necessary for a compelling anime, one might expect a bit more from a studio of MAPPA's caliber.

Although the storyline follows some generic tropes, it manages to maintain a decent level of intrigue, buoyed by likable characters and the ever popular battle royale dynamic.

Initially, the series captivates with its premise, but as time progresses, its allure gradually wanes.

Initially it was competent in establishing the essential components of the narrative, merely scratches the surface, leaving much unresolved and potentially unexplored. Thus, beyond surface-level impressions, there's little substance to delve into regarding the storyline's progression.

To summarize, Hell's Paradise may have had an engaging start, its momentum falters over time, leaving viewers with a sense of unfulfilled potential. Despite laying the groundwork for future developments, it struggles to distinguish itself among its genre peers, ultimately falling short of leaving a lasting impression in the minds of its audience.

Lord Tensen stands out as a truly remarkable antagonist group. The concept of gender-fluid plant gods is undeniably intriguing, and the execution throughout the arc is commendable.

The introduction of Tao through their interactions was seamlessly integrated into the storyline.

While some of the individual personalities within Lord Tensen may have been less memorable, the collective impact they had on the narrative was undeniably significant.

Tao emerges as a compelling power system within the series. While not groundbreaking in its originality, its implementation, complete with attribute dynamics and tangible consequences, serves as a solid foundation for the exhilarating battles that unfold regularly throughout the story.

From the moment the island setting was introduced, it became evident that it would play a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of the franchise. This sentiment only intensified with the introduction of Lord Tensen, signaling a narrative shift that would define the series moving forward.

I love the way Yuji Kaku address the potential issue of maintaining momentum beyond the arc. He encapsulated Hell's Paradise within a single arc, Kaku effectively circumvents any future narrative stagnation, ensuring that the story remains focused and impactful without overstaying its welcome.

About the things I did not like:

To be frank, Shugen's presence is a significant contributing factor to why Hell's Paradise experiences a decline towards its conclusion. It's a shame because, in theory, he embodies some of the series' most intriguing qualities.

A samurai deeply committed to their clan, capable of adopting the fighting styles of their allies – it's undeniably a captivating concept.

Shugen's ability adds a unique dynamic to the diverse array of samurai present in the manga, and surprisingly, it's a concept that hasn't been explored extensively elsewhere.

Furthermore, his unwavering adherence to bushido principles positions him as the quintessential foil for characters like Sagiri and Shion, facilitating their growth and development throughout the narrative.

Indeed, one of the manga's standout moments, arguably its finest scene, hinges on Shugen's involvement. However, despite his potential, Shugen also serves as one of the primary sources of contention within Hell's Paradise.

It's not necessarily Shugen himself that poses the problem, but rather the timing of his introduction and subsequent development.

Shugen's belated introduction, well past the halfway mark of the manga, coupled with his sudden relevance in the final act, proves to be a glaring misstep in Hell's Paradise.

While such a narrative approach might have worked for a minor character like Shija, it falls flat when applied to a character of Shugen's purported significance.

His abrupt integration into the storyline feels contrived, resulting in a palpable disruption to the flow of the narrative, particularly during the crucial third act.

In hindsight, there existed potential avenues for effectively incorporating Shugen into the storyline.

Personally, I believe having him, along with Izusu and Kiyomaru, present on the island from the outset could have provided ample opportunities for organic character development and interaction.

By positioning them as a somewhat antagonistic presence, they could have served as intriguing foils to the primary cast, injecting moments of conflict and tension into the plot.

However, the execution of Shugen's character arc ultimately fails to capitalize on these possibilities, ultimately detracting from the overall cohesiveness of the story.

Things in my personal life have been getting super busy and I’ve been getting super stressed, which takes away some of my creativity and ability to write good things for OFT. But I’m hoping today’s post can help me get back on the path, so to speak. Today’s post is super fun- small ways you can make your room super cute/kawaii!

When I say small ways, I mean things that don’t require painting the walls or tearing up carpet or rebuilding furniture- just little things here and there that can be done to make a room cute!

Declutter. How can anyone see your cute décor if there’s clutter everywhere? This is something I really need to work on.

a. Having trouble on where to begin decluttering? A good system that I use for cleaning in general is in steps.

     i.      Step One: Throw away Trash.

     ii.      Step Two: Put clothes into hamper or away.

  iii.      Step Three: Pick up all loose items and place into where they belong.

b. Another tip for decluttering is to go through your clothes once a year and try on everything. Donate what does not fit, clothing you don’t wear anymore, or clothing you don’t like anymore.

c. Decluttering can really open up a space and can help you when it comes to having your nice items on display.

2) Wall Décor! If you don’t have a lot of shelf or tabletop space, Wall Décor can really help make a room super cute.

Both the Google G Suite Shared (Team) Drives and the individual My Drive are built on the same Google cloud infrastructure. Both Shared Drive and My Drive allow businesses and individuals to have many benefits not afforded by keeping files on-premises or carrying data on removable storage.

But what is the difference between using google team drives and sharing google drive files? What are the pros and cons of Google Drive, and what are Shared (Team) Drives? What aspects of the Shared Drive cater to businesses, and how does the individual My Drive compare with these features? Let’s clarify the distinction.

Google is implementing Drive File Stream which allows users to stream files directly to their computer without the need for time and hard drive consuming file syncing. With Drive File Stream in.

With Google Drive File Stream, set files or folders to be available offline. In the example shown: right-click on a file stored on Google Drive from within Windows file explorer, then choose Google. It streams the files and folders so they can be used locally on an end-user client. Google Backup & Sync is the application that syncs and stores Drive content locally on your computer.

3. Cost Comparison

Shared Drives is only available with paid G Suite Business, Enterprise, or Education editions of G Suite. So the price depends on the option.

My Drive is a free offering with default 15GB storage limits. You can buy more storage in case you need it anytime: 100GB for $1.99 per month, 200GB for $2.99, and 2TB for $9.99 per month.

As the suggested plan for this school project on the project kick-off, we have decided the group communication setting and dynamics. Also, what are our aspirations etc? It is interesting that some of us have not worked together this far into the programme, so we also took some time to meet a little bit better.

Next thing, we decided to look dipper into UN 2030 Sustainable goals and tried to choose on which one we are going to work. After an in-depth selection process we came up with a final choice, and that was the UN global goal number 17 - Partnership for the goals. First supervision - 6 May

Today on the first supervision, we have tried to find some first problems that we encountered in this UN goal. There is a clear lack of transparency on how negotiations are held, when it comes to global negotiations, like huge corporations and states.

On the other hand, when it comes to local negotiations between private companies and local municipalities, There is also a lack of visible benefits for local communities. It seems, from what we have found that companies are the biggest benefits. We need to look into this furthermore.

Lastly, we can say that after doing little overviewed of some projects, citizens are not asked directly for bringing this decision. Our aim after this supervision is to choose the objective and unpack further.

Narrowing down objectives

As the image suggests, we have analysed furthermore 17th UN sustainable goal and carefully selected the most appealing segments of the selection and this is some of the suggested ideas, that I will share.

It is important to keep in mind that UN sustainable goal number 17 is divided into segments, which are 1.FINANCE, 2. TECHNOLOGY 3. TRADE 4. We have narrowed down to focus on Technology and Multi-stakeholder partnerships. One of the first problems we have encountered was that we were focusing overly too much on results of partnerships than on partnerships and collaboration itself.

Partnership in Technology - has a role to enhance international cooperation on and access to science, technology and innovation. Also, enhance knowledge sharing on mutually agreed terms, including through improved coordination among existing mechanisms. And to promote the development, transfer, dissemination and diffusion of environmentally sound technologies to developing countries on favourable terms.

We got feedback that our objective is good and that it was a good idea to anchor it in one simple negotiation example. Mainly, due to the complexity of this UN Goal.

Now, we got feedback on how to find our exact problematic within this goal. We also don’t have to focus so much on interviewing individuals and users of these products.  Nor, we have to look into the municipality and ask them all complicated questions. Rather we can look for clear and concrete cases where partnership and communication have been problematic. 

These are an example that Clint gave to us, and that we will keep as guidelines.

You don't pay with money and minutes, you also pay with your private data. Don’t try to be reductionists. Complexity in negotiation is worth speculating. Negotiation, where people/citizens are not involved, is already problematic.

Tips and Tricks to Implement Safe Showings in the Age of COVID-19

Even though the world is at a virtual standstill, there are still plenty of luxury homes for sale, as well as plenty of buyers looking to buy in the luxury real estate market.

While everyone’s health and safety should be any agent’s first priority, there are certainly ways to continue conducting business while protecting both.

Of course, it’s also important to note that there will be clients who prefer to wait for a less complicated time to buy or sell luxury real estate, and we need to respect those wishes.

However, your luxury real estate expertise is needed more than ever right now while clients try to make sense of the market and what to do next.

Since you’ll find that there are still many buyers and sellers who want to keep things moving, we want to give you a few tips and tricks to implement safer showings over the next couple of months:

Always Come Prepared Since safety is key, you’ll need to be ready with a few supplies at every showing to make sure that you and your guests are taken care of. We suggest keeping a supply of gloves, sanitizer, soap and trash bags in your car so that you always have them readily available. Take Extra Safety Precautions It may feel awkward, but you and your guests must still follow social distancing guidelines when touring a home. Provide your guests with clean latex or non-latex gloves, which you can set out in front of the home before anyone goes in. Be sure to have gloves on before unlocking doors or touching light switches.

As an extra precaution, you and your guests should also remove shoes before entering the home. At the end of the showing, provide a new trash bag to collect everyone’s gloves to throw away safely.

If possible, keep showings to one sole decision maker who can either take video footage or Facetime with their partner if they have one.

To prepare your clients, make sure you discuss these measures beforehand, or email them a checklist of what to expect.

Help Your Buyers Narrow Down Their Choices First To keep in-person showings to a minimum, help your buyers rule out homes before they visit. Fortunately, most luxury real estate listings include high-definition videos and photography that can give buyers a clear idea of what each home can offer. Most listings will even offer 3D virtual tours that can give your client the virtual experience of a walkthrough.

If your clients are local, they can still drive around the neighborhoods they’re interested in to get a feel for the community and atmosphere. If you’re working with out-of-town buyers, this is a great time to point them toward any community-centric content you’ve created.

At the same time, remember that viewing potential homes is often one of the most exciting parts of home-buying, and missing out on this step can be disappointing for some homebuyers.

Since much of this process will have to be done virtually or over the phone, any way that you can personalize the experience to make it more enjoyable will likely be met with great appreciation. Get creative!

Pre-Qualify Prospects Before Scheduling a Showing Again, your goal should be to keep showings to a minimum. Although it goes without saying, prospective buyers viewing your seller’s listings should already have a pre-approval letter. They should have also already seen as many videos and photos of the listing as possible, including the satellite view and photos of the surrounding area.

When in Doubt, Conduct a Virtual Showing If you service international markets, you may already be familiar with conducting virtual showings. While it’s always a good idea to include 3D virtual tours in your listing, it’s especially important now. 3D virtual tours create interactive digital renderings of the listing that allow prospects to “walk” through the home and view it at any angle.

Another way to host a virtual tour is to host a Facebook livestream for interested prospects. This completely limits the need for prospects to step foot in the home, and also allows for more viewers to “attend” the viewing at one time so that you can limit your visits to the home as well.

5 Ways to Optimize Your WooCommerce Store’s Performance

Successful online stores tend to have a lot of elements in common. They usually feature excellent customer support, user-friendly designs, competitive prices, and they tend to be super speedy. Slow-loading stores usually don’t get as much patronage, so it’s crucial you learn how to optimize your WooCommerce store’s performance.

If you’re a WooCommerce user, there’s plenty of scope for improving your store’s performance. In this article, we’ll explain why it’s important to keep your e-commerce site running smoothly, and teach you six ways you can optimize your WooCommerce store for better performance.

In the past, we’ve talked several times about how to optimize WordPress for better performance. However, for this article, we’re going to focus on how to improve WooCommerce sites specifically.

5 Ways to Optimize Your WooCommerce Store’s Performance

Of course, WooCommerce stores are still WordPress websites. However, running a store is different to other niches. Given this, let’s take a look at shaving every single millisecond you can out of your loading times, focused on your e-commerce storefront.

1. Compress and Resize Your Product Images

Images are a key component of any modern website, but are even more important for online stores. Customers have so many options for buying products online, leveraging every edge is vital. High-quality shots (for one example) can help differentiate you from other e-commerce sites:

However, detailed product photography means big file sizes. Including multiple images for each product will also bump up the overall file size. Given this, it’s important to ‘compress’ your product images to reduce both file size and loading times, without impacting front-end quality. A great solution for this is TinyPNG:

However, if you have an image-heavy site, automating the process using a plugin such as WP Smush makes more sense. This solution is good due to its user-friendly interface and built-in image resizing features:

Once you install and activate the plugin, you’ll come to a quick setup window:

You’ll notice the image compression feature is turned on by default. However, you’ll also want to turn on the option reading Resize my full size images:

This feature makes sure none of the images you upload have unnecessarily large dimensions. For example, displaying full-resolution images is pointless if your site only displays smaller images throughout. By enabling this option, you’re reducing the file size even further, which translates to faster loading times. Of course, you should experiment with the optimal resolution for your WooCommerce product images, but make sure to leave the feature enabled.

Ideally, you’ll set up an image optimization plugin as soon as you launch your store. If you haven’t optimized every image on your site yet, the BULK SMUSH feature (found via the Smush tab within WordPress), lets you do this efficiently:

However, a major downside to the free version of the plugin is the file size limitation of 1 MB. However, you do get to optimize an unlimited number of images, which isn’t found in most similar plugins. If you’re regularly dealing with heftier images than this, you may want to invest in a premium image optimization plugin.

2. Clean Up Your Database Regularly

As you may know, your entire WordPress site is stored in a database. A standard WordPress website accumulates data as time goes by, including post drafts, trashed pages, deleted comments, and more. WooCommerce sites also have product pages, tags, categories, among other data.

Ultimately, this means you may need to clean up your database more often than with other types of websites. While you shouldn’t expect miracles, every optimization technique helps.

Fortunately, there are plenty of database optimization plugins to choose from. A popular choice is WP-Optimize, which is very simple to use:

Once you activate the plugin, a new WP-Optimize tab will appear on your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll see a list of the tables the plugin can optimize, and how many entries it will clean up within each of them:

In our experience, it’s usually safe to optimize all of your tables at once. However, we still recommend you do a full backup of your website beforehand, just in case the worst happens.

3. Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN)

One of the factors that determine how long your WooCommerce store takes to load is the distance between your visitors and your server. The larger the distance, the longer your website will take to load, even over high-speed internet connections.

The best way to deal with this issue is to use a CDN. What these services do is store (or cache) copies of your website on data centers around the world. Then, when someone tries to access your site, your CDN will redirect them to the nearest copy of it, so to speak.

This approach enables you to cut down loading times across the board. However, this kind of service doesn’t often come for free – although companies such as Cloudflare offer limited free tiers:

The Cloudflare free plan isn’t as rapid as other premium CDNs, although it’s easy to integrate with WordPress and WooCommerce, and a breeze to use (especially with a host that integrates the service).

If you have a higher budget, Cloudflare’s premium plans also include built-in image optimization. This means they’re especially well-suited for WooCommerce websites with a lot of product images – and they can reduce your loading times even further.

Of course, there are plenty of other CDN solutions to consider, so it’s worth shopping around to find the right solution for you.

4. Set Up a Caching Solution

Aside from setting up a CDN for your WooCommerce site, you’ll also want to configure a local caching solution. This way, repeat visitors won’t have to load your entire website every time they visit.

Some people think that using a CDN is enough since it essentially caches your online store for you. However, even the best CDN doesn’t help much if you have visitors with flaky internet connections. In these cases, you can optimize your store for future visits by essentially speeding up loading times similarly to implementing a CDN.

When it comes to WordPress and WooCommerce, you have plenty of caching solutions to choose from. We’ve talked about several of them in the past, such as the popular Comet Cache:

This particular caching plugin offers an incredibly easy setup and configuration process, with the default configuration being good enough for simple WordPress sites. However, for complex WooCommerce stores that get updated often, you’ll want to configure your cache to clear regularly. To do this, head to the Comet Cache tab within WordPress, and open the Cache Expiration Time section. Inside, you’ll find a drop-down menu including expiration time settings:

In our experience, the default 7 days setting works well enough for small stores, but you may want to go lower if you update your site more often.

5. Use a Solid WordPress Hosting Provider

Many site owners opt for budget-friendly WordPress hosting, which isn’t a problem for small, low-traffic websites. However, if you’re running a WooCommerce store, dealing with traffic surges should be a high-priority.

For example, an email campaign for your current sale could lead to a spike in traffic from would-be buyers. A hosting plan that can’t cope with multiple concurrent users means you’re probably going to lose a few sales in the process.

In our tests, we’ve found there are several WordPress shared hosting providers that perform great under stress, such as A2 Hosting and SiteGround. However, using a Virtual Private Server (VPS) for your WooCommerce store can be an even better option if you can afford the extra cost.

To sum up, hosting performance becomes more critical when loading times can impact negatively on conversions. If you want to grow a successful WooCommerce store, you need to be even more mindful about the hosting provider you choose from the get-go.

Green Electronics Standards Are Broken

Ever wonder how tech companies can make unrepairable, non-upgradeable, hard to recycle products—and still get away with calling themselves green? Because those same tech companies actually help write US standards for greener electronics, according to a new report from Repair.org.

If we want better environmental standards, we’ve got to stop letting the fox guard the henhouse: we can’t let companies like Apple, Oracle, and Sony tell us what makes cell phones, servers, and computers environmentally sound. We need to demand better, more repairable, more sustainable product designs.

What are green electronics standards, anyways?

Strictly speaking, no electronic device is “good” for the environment—they’re resource intensive to make and too many of them end up in the trash too soon. Tech companies can really only make electronics that are “less bad” for the environment. Green standards give electronics manufacturers a clear path to “less bad”—weighing things like materials use, packaging, energy efficiency, lifespan, and recyclability to rate products. If a new product meets enough of the criteria on the standard, it gets listed on EPEAT’s green product registry with a Bronze, Silver, or Gold designation. The more criteria the new gadget meets in its standard, the higher the designation.

But manufacturers don’t just seek green certifications out of the goodness of their hearts. It’s strategic. Consumers prefer to purchase sustainable products and we’ll pay more for them. Plus, the federal government—the single largest purchaser of IT equipment in the world—is actually required to buy electronics vetted by these standards. It may not be easy being green, but tech companies can make a chunk of money doing it.

Products scores are designed to be quantitative, so you can’t really fudge your final rating in a standard. But what if you could design a standard that your products are guaranteed to pass? It’s like rigging a test: instead of improving the product, manufacturers change the scoring system to match their products. Their gadget is dubbed “green,” consumers get to buy it guilt-free, and everyone wins—except the environment.

Rigging the system

So let’s say you’ve designed a server that’s coming out next year. You want it to get a high rating on the green standard, but you don’t want to change your design. No problem! Just join the open committee that develops the standard and object to any progressive rules that might flunk your product. Standards are consensus-based, so the negative voices carry the day.

“Manufacturers often make up such a large portion of standards committees, they can easily vote against policies they deem too challenging and approve more lax requirements,” writes Mark Schaffer, a standards expert and author of Repair.org’s new report on the standards development process, Electronics Standards Are In Need of Repair.

Here’s an infuriating tidbit: There doesn’t seem to be a single non-profit environmental organization in the group that’s developing the standard for greener servers. There are a whole lot of tech companies, server-makers, and chemical companies, though. What sort of standard do you think they’re gonna come up with?

When manufacturers design standards, of course they’ll fit the standard to their existing products. I saw it firsthand during the six years I spent working on UL 110—a standard for greener mobile phones. Tech companies banded together to push forward the criteria they wanted and shot down the ones they didn’t. And they were especially hostile towards any criteria that would have made mobile phones easier to repair or recycle.

We managed to get in a few repair-related criteria into the standard, but the language got so watered down that even Samsung��s Galaxy S8 can apparently meet the criterion for ease-of-disassembly. And that’s not a phone that’s easy to take apart—it’s glued together. In the end, the only really strong, effective repair criteria we managed to get into the standard—over Apple’s vocal objection—was an optional point for phones with batteries that can be removed without tools.

That’s it.

With 14 years under his belt, Schaffer has been involved in electronics standards far longer than I have. And he’s noticed a trend: In the last five years, green standards for electronics have gotten weaker. As his report details, the computer standard has become saturated with top-tier level products over the last few years. As of July 2017—the report notes—64% of 1700+ devices registered in the US to the EPEAT computer standard earned a Gold designation. And 97% of devices were listed as either Gold or Silver.

That’s a hell of a high percentage of top-performing devices for a standard that’s meant to call out only the best products on the market. And no wonder: most of the standard is over 10 years old. It’s in the middle of a revision, but standards take years to write—mostly because it’s incredibly hard for manufacturers to agree with everyone else.

Nonprofit groups and academic researchers that actually do care about the environment don’t have enough resources to invest years into writing standards, so they have a tendency to burn out and disappear. Tech companies, though, have lots of time and money, so they can afford to drag their feet until they get their way.

Green standards for electronics don’t lead anymore, says Schaffer—because tech companies don’t want them to. And despite concerted efforts to make products more reusable, more repairable, and easier to recycle—there’s been little actual progress.

“Instead, [green standards] have become a complicated way for manufacturers to greenwash products that have a devastating environmental impact and pat themselves on the back for business as usual,” Schaffer’s report concludes.

Fallen green giant

It wasn’t always like this. The first sustainable electronics standard—for laptops and computers—was adopted in 2006. At the time, the development group was smaller, and they succeeded in setting the stage for “greener” computers with a demanding standard.

At first, not a single product initially passed the standard with a gold rating and just 60 products made it on the registry at all. But manufacturers rose to the challenge. By 2008, 1,000 products were listed on the registry. EPEAT did what leadership standards are supposed to do: it led.

Not anymore.

EPEAT’s current computer standard requires that products be upgradeable, batteries removable, and hard drives accessible with a common tool. They barely make laptops like that anymore. Yet laptops like the 2012 MacBook Pro Retina (a non-upgradeable laptop with a glued-down battery and tamper-resistant screws) still met the standard. When people balked, EPEAT determined that technically an external USB port made the laptop upgradeable, that you could technically pry up a glued-down battery, and that Apple’s proprietary security screw was technically common enough.

“The gold-dense scoring line-up is troubling in a standard so new. A properly-developed leadership standard should start off with devices just barely able to achieve the bronze level—as the initial computer standard did in 2006. The fact that two of the largest producers of mobile phones were immediately able to achieve gold designations for their existing products indicates that the leadership standard substantially reflects the status quo. It doesn’t lead—and the new criteria isn’t driving device design in a more sustainable direction,” Schaffer writes in the report.

As consumers, we should be able to trust them to identify only the most sustainable products,” says Gay Gordon-Byrne, Executive Director of Repair.org. “Instead, members of the IT industry have co-opted standards for their own benefit, warping them into a tool that drives sales at the expense of the environment. This is patently unacceptable, and it needs to change.”
