From the novelization that I enjoyed tidbits of

Poppy throughout the movie and in the junior novelization only wanted Branch to be happy so I like these little things in the story that showcase how much Poppy cares for Branch and vice versa. I am kind of sad they didn't include that ending in the movie but it would be hard to make it fit when the theme is about family first and foremost.

Crimp wasn't going to encourage his rescue. She was a part of this, but hearing how broken and weak the frail troll's voice was made her heart break. Even by just a little.

The hair creature slowly, carefully made her way to the bottle, and hesitantly rested a hand on the cool glass. She tilted her head, reflections of a balled JD shining in her glasses.

"I-I'm sure they will?" Her voice tapered into a squeak, and Dory couldn't help but flinch at the response.

He turned his head slightly, just enough for Crimp to see his dull, greying eyes. A slow, shake of his head, and a sad chuckle followed.

"Y' just don't get it. I left them once. If anything..."

Let out a sharp whine, tail wrapping its way around his body as a sad form of a hug.
