And you let this man run your country? Do the millions of deaths perpetrated by the nazi regime mean so little to you that you would allow it to happen again? I weep for your children and for the children your president has cruelly snatched from their parents simply because he wants to make both them and their families suffer. It’s disgraceful. Remember ‘Terminator’? Its Time to Call Our Own Resistance, to The Trumpinator!
As I write this early on Day 11 of the Trump dictatorship, several developments over the weekend and yesterday only further convince me that we’re entering a dictatorship of our own creation. I’ll explain why in a moment, but for now, the general breakdown (note the irony of that word, for its enough to send someone into a breakdown):
Trump met with British PM Theresa May over the weekend, in a ceremony which returned the bust of Winston Churchill to its spot in the Oval Office. While there is no mention of the fate of the bust of MLK which Obama had kept on display near the fabled presidential desk, that should matter equally with the meaning behind the meeting. Sure, the meeting simply reaffirmed the US-Britain ties which had existed since World War II, but the fact that a radical PM espousing ‘Brexit’ met with an equally radical, and unstable president plagued by scandals over the size of the Inauguration Day crowd as well as his close association with Russia and their potential role in his election ‘victory’ should be seen as the turning of the page, when radical right-wing politicians with nationalistic ideology and dreams of political power pose the very real threat of gangsterism. In addition to Britain, Trump also held phone-call meetings with the heads of Germany, Russia, Japan, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking of Mexico, Trump’s bold plan to “build a wall and make Mexico pay for it” hit a major snag both at home and in Mexico itself. On the one hand, Senate Democrats and a few Republicans are prepared to block any allocation of materials, funds, or workers to build that wall. On the other hand, the Mexican president made it clear that his country would not pay for the building of the wall along the border. He was joined by many in the United Nations, who see such a wall as a major Human Rights violation (anyone remember East Germany and the Berlin Wall?). Despite the major blowback from both fronts, Trump remains undeterred in his objective of building the Great Wall of the Rio Grande
On the domestic front, his executive actions effectively gutting the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) are already causing problems for Republicans who as recently as six months ago were hell-bent and determined to repeal it at all costs. Now that the best parts of the law have been abolished and people begin to fear for their insurance coverage, the GOP is awakening to the danger of a sudden, total repeal and have - for once - attempted to unite with the Democrats to oppose such an all-out repeal (question for any GOP politicians with a Tumblr account who can read this: Why do you now give a sh*t about a law you spent nearly six years trying to repeal or defund? Why didn’t you care six years ago?). Tax cuts to the social programs which help the poor are slated to be announced soon, and major tax relief to the wealthy 1% is expected soon after. Trump has even strong-armed many companies like Carrier into keeping some jobs here in America rather than send them overseas. (NOTE: I have no problem with Trump’s idea here, but his methods could use major improvement. Charm, Trump. Not bullying).
Lastly, and most recently, his efforts to implement a travel ban on Muslims with dual citizenship and green cards based on a list that was drawn up under the Obama adminstration but never used to the extent Trump is now using it, have caused a worldwide backlash. Democrats have also expressed outrage, especially after, just yesterday, Trump fired the acting Attorney General for following a federal judge’s stay on the ban and replaced them with a more pliant (see also butt-kissing, puppet) who had ordered the DOJ to implement the ban. This comes on the heels of Trump’s silencing of the National Park Services for a retweet which showed a comparison photo between Trump’s Inauguration and the Obama Inauguration back in 2009, and his (as well as Kellyanne Conway’s and Sean Spicer’s) blistering attack on the media as “fake news” (while allowing Steve Bannon, the guy behind Breitbart-that infamous den of the truly fake news-to be his National Security advisor),
So why do I feel this is becoming a Nazi-like dictatorship? Its very simple. The Muslim ban, very similar to a ban imposed on Jews by the Nazi regime in Germany in the 1930s. Attacks on media outlets like NBC and CNN? You got it, make the media the opposition party and demonize them to such a degree that everyone is convinced they ARE fake news, and at the same time allow such fake news outlets as Breitbart to lull the unsuspecting (or blissfully ignorant) population into accepting the proclamations that the “enemies” are minorities, homosexuals, Muslims, and “those damned immigrants”. The fear Trump propagates that immigrants are what’s hurting America? Again, very similar to Hitler selling the notion (untrue though it was) that Jews were what was hurting Germany.
“So what? Its already too late to do anything. Trump, rightly or wrongly, is now the POTUS and we have to accept that reality.” NO. It. is. NEVER TOO LATE. We can do something about it. So where does the ‘Terminator’ reference come in? Well, if you recall from the movie that the goal of the Resistance was to defeat the tyranny known as Skynet and save Humanity from extinction. We face an extermination very similar, though possibly more limited to one country (we hope, at least). Trump has become the evil Skynet, so we must respond by forming our version of the Resistance (not with guns and missiles, but with ideas, protests, sit-ins and support for such organizations as Planned Parenthood). We need to combat Trump’s brand of nationalism with globalism. We need to take a closer look at those refugees fleeing the terrorism, natural disasters, and crime and decide if our land is truly the “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave”. We should also support small businesses who are extending a hand to those refugees, such as Starbucks.
So if we liken Trump to Skynet, and our anti-Trump movement as the Resistance, then you can consider me to be John Connor. So to paraphrase that line from ‘Terminator: Salvation’....
“If you are reading this......then you are the Resistance”

Political rallies
Despot in waiting Trump continues his electoral college (not popular vote) victory tour around the nation that he so bamboozled. Yesterday he was in that old barn of an arena in Hershey, PA, basking in the glow of hootin’ and hollerin’ Pennsyl-tuckians.
I can’t think of any other President-elect who spent so much time wallowing in this kind of narcissistic victory spectacle. Meanwhile the 44 previous people who were selected for this position spent their valuable run-up days formulating policy and getting up to speed on the day-to-day working of national governance.
What purpose do these circus-like spectacles serve other than laying another brick upon his towering ego and arrogance.
Now that I think about it: I do recall a close comparison to these almost spiritual, cult-like rallies:
