Crimes of passion is the best book choices has come out with since like 2017-18 its so good! The dynamic between trystan and the detective is SO GOOD! I honestly can’t wait for book 2

Does your detective use social media?

Cameron no longer uses social media in her personal life. After bringing attention to the injustices within the NYPD, she was harassed not only at work but online too. She deleted all of her accounts after that. And now as a P.I. she needs to protect her identity, so she has stayed off social media ever since.

As it might be needed for an investigation, Luke will help her set up fake accounts, mostly to lure in those cheating husbands.

Does your prince/princess use social media?

Summary: Trystan decides to take the throne. But what happens to the best partnership at Mafalda Agency?

Author’s Notes: Might edit this later, it was pretty rushed. But I just wanted to get this idea out. It’s pretty short. They’re well in the book but this is a little standalone, it won’t affect their relationship if I were to create a series. I have also decided to try my hand at a male!MC so hopefully I didn’t lose touch with writing- (Sorry, it has been a while since I’ve read Crimes of Passion so I’ve just gone off of what I remember) You can message if you wanna be added to the taglist.

Inspired by Another Lifetime by NAO

The vengeful lover of Countess Juliana Georgescu and the killer of Drakovia was finally discovered. Trystan and Cameron could see through Vasili’s cover and escape his plot. But Trystan will soon have to bear the weight of Drakovia upon her. 

In Trystan’s dressing room, Cameron helps her prepare by tightening her tie. 

“You know you don’t have to do all this, Cam.”

“I want to.”

The next few moments are filled with silence. Neither one wanted to break the peace with the reality they must face. 

“How do I look?”

“Elegant.”

“Are you ready though?”

Trystan couldn’t answer, she must be ready. She’s obligated to take the throne. She cannot have such unacceptable doubts about her reign.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”

Suddenly, Trystan feels the ground shaking and her head spinning. Cameron had to catch her before she hit the ground, holding her as she shook in his arms. 

“Look, I understand. I respect your decision, okay? You’ll make an amazing queen. Someone Drakovia needs.”

“But that means we won’t be together. That I’d have to marry someone else, be true to them even when I love you still. It’s not fair.”

She feels that she cannot afford to break down and fall apart right before the ceremony. Cameron keeps her grounded in reality in his arms. 

“Trystan, I’ll be here. But we can’t do this. Even if you were to have me by your side, it wouldn’t be fair for the ruler by your side. No matter what, I’m here whenever you need me. Even in New York, I’ll take the next available flight to you.”

Cameron helps Trystan up, smoothening her wrinkly clothes. Before approaching the door and gently opening it, guiding her out. He returned to his group in the ceremony chamber, awaiting Trystan’s arrival. 

Escorted by Drakovia’s current rulers, Trystan walks as stoically as possible down the aisle. Cameron is unable to handle the sight of Trystan, pain coiling around his heart and suffocating it. He has to accept it, he must come to terms with not having Trystan. That Trystan Thorne will never completely be his, he will be another secret swept away to the side. He must will his heart to share her with Drakovia and her official spouse. As Trystan reaches the end of the aisle, before she can spot her lover, he disappears through a side exit to the dismay of others and his group of friends. 

‘Cause there I will stay, my darling

Cameron attempted to take a breath but he couldn’t, each failed breath caused him to panic more. 

I swear I won’t run from you

He ran. He ran until he couldn’t anymore. 

Won’t run from you, I swear about it

Away from the ceremony, the palace, his Trystan. No. Queen Trystan. He couldn’t do it, become a lover to the Queen, regardless of her father doing the same. Cameron would never want to take part in Trytan’s attention when it should be on the one Trystan chooses to rule Drakovia with. 

One day, Cameron Rose and Trystan Thorne would’ve meant to be.

But for now, not in this lifetime…

Accidentally admitting that the other is really pretty, leading to both of them getting very flustered

There aren't enough words in the world to describe how annoying Trystan could be, according to Cameron - she'd tell you this with a smile on her face because she does like Trystan, no matter how annoying he is.

Not that she'd ever admit that to his face. Except she just did. Kinda.

The words leave her mouth before she realizes - hell, she doesn't realize.

"You're lucky you're pretty."

Caught off guard, Trystan looks at her and notices how nonchalant she is. For a moment, it's as if his brain short circuited and he can't stop the thoughts from racing through his head.

He almost can't believe those words left her mouth and he's dying to tease her because he knows she won't believe it either. But for now, he stays quiet and basks in the fact that she thinks he's pretty.

Sure, Trystan knows he's handsome. Enough people have told him he is. But from her, it feels special.

"You think I'm pretty?" he finally notes, a smirk on his face.

Her eyebrows furrow briefly, wondering what he's even talking about - and then it hits her like a brick wall. Immediately, her cheeks turn a bright pink and he can't help but smile.

"I-I did not mean it like that!"

"Mhm, sure," he smugly grins.

If it's not late, it's probably not me! Not for all things, but for a whole lot, so it's with my sincere apologies that I post this "Countdown to 2024" on the 9th day of the year!

Now, I'm going to be honest: I started to write this, and the list got huge. HUGE. And while I like to spread the love and be as inclusive as I possibly can, at some point, it began to look like an amalgamation of everything I've read in the year. So, I decided to scale back and follow the rules (gasp!) ... sort of... lol

See, I don't think writer appreciation should be limited to these events. Writer... creator... appreciation is a living, breathing act that should take place year-round. Each time you comment, share, or even leave a little ❤️ on a fic, you're showing your appreciation, gratitude and, honestly, you're serving yourself, because that simple act may be the very thing that tips the scale and makes your favorite say, "You know what, yeah! I'm going to keep doing this."

So, to every single writer in the fandom - thank you. I tried to show you love throughout 2023, and I hope to do more of that in 2024... you all mean so much to me!

But, I'm limiting this to three (and lawd that really was NOT easy) lol

When I closed my eyes and thought of the last year in fics, this is what came to my mind...

One...

@alj4890 - Seriously, I feel she is a writer who deserves so much more love than she gets. And, if y'all were smart, you'd take the time to change that in 2024! I love the passion that she has for every one of her pairings, even though she knows my favorite will always be Tobias x Chris (OH). Whether being light and witty or delving into deep emotion, your fics are always touching and beautifully written. I'm excited whenever I get a tag from you! Some of my favorites in 2023 were Visceral Reaction, Holding On, Nope (I had to give Trystan x Cameron some love, too!) and you know I was just crazy about The Wake. What a great concept! But I wouldn't be mad if you got back to Mixed Signals. Selfishly, I hope 2024 brings you more time to write, but honestly, I just hope it brings you joy!

Two...

2023 will always be the year that I fell in love with Crimes of Passion, and with that, I discovered another corner of our community and the many talented writers within it. I will forever bow to the queen of Crimes fics (yes, you @inlocusmads - there needs not to be a vote; it has been decreed! And New York, June 2014 was one of the first things that came to my mind when recalling this year's fics!) I got to learn about some writers I was not familiar with previously (shout out to @shreyamistry - your Trystan x M!MC Fanfic lives on in my mind, and I'm always hoping for a follow-up!) It gave me the opportunity to see some of my old favorites soar in a different place (hello @storyofmychoices @trappedinfanfiction and @lilyoffandoms - Lily, can we please have more Trystan x Gabriel all day every day??? PLEASE). And it did something I love more than anything: it allowed us all to see new creators step up and share their love and talent with us, and right now, I'm looking at @stars-are-within-me and @moominofthevalley Crimes wouldn't have been as enjoyable without you. @stars-are-within-me, I appreciated you taking the time to give us parts of the story that Pixelberry failed to address. In my opinion, the best was The Favorite Brother, and I may be a little biased, but I loved the beautiful trio of stories you wrote for me in the Secret Santa (Airport, Angel, and Cookies). You're so supportive of everyone, I'm so glad you're a part of our fandom! @moominofthevalley your writing is just beautiful, and I have found myself lost in your Trystan x Emily stories on so many occasions. It's hard to pick a favorite, but Heavy is Her Heart , The Girl With The Glass, and Turpentine stick out in my mind. You are masterful in conveying emotion, and these fics are perfect examples of that.

Three...

(You see how I cheated here, sort of? lol) I will never be able to look back on 2023 and NOT think of the hijinx of Ethan x Merida, Bryce x Olivia, and Tobias x Casey. They wouldn't have been possible if not for the vision and talent of the incomparable @lilyoffandoms and @storyofmychoices. Sure, "they" were born in the end of 2022, but they grew up in 2023! The way I smile when whenever I see a notification for another story with our babies! I love every single one of their shenanigans, but two that stand out to me were Mystery Unlocked by @storyofmychoices and When Husbands Become Prey by @lilyoffandoms (the way I CACKLED when I saw that title! lol). These six were a highlight of 2023, and I know there is much more to look forward to this year! Love you both, and love our babies!

And four... because I be like that lol

I can't not mention @mydemonsdrivealimo because 2023 was the year of Jensen in my book. And while I loved your works from earlier this year (looking at you Your Love and What I'm Becoming), I have to admit, Halloween owns me... and not jus because of the connection to Noah. lol Your descriptive writing and the way you convey painful emotions are just brilliant.

Thank you to each and every one of you for bringing a smile to our faces or tears to our eyes this year, and thank you for helping the fandom move along! ❤️

@cassie-thorne: Max's art is literally the best and I love her work so much! She puts out bangers after bangers and I absolutely loved watching her style evolve and grow this year and I'm looking forward to seeing it next year too! I especially absolutely love how Max tackles lighting and backgrounds in her work, like it's so unique and each piece tells its own story too. @mydemonsdrivealimo: MJ's stuff exhuberates this 'cool' energy, like my guy, you could actually design those energy drink logos or comic book covers because each piece is just SO FUN, okay? Some of my favs: Jensen in weird lil tees, THE PIRATE AU, jenseeennnnn and virtually everything (I'm especially a fan of MJ's little doodles like this and the cutest thing ever)

@hydn-jpg: I love Hayden's work partially because each piece of art has its own fanbase (as it should). Last year I got a giveaway piece from them and it is still something I look back frequently because it's just so goddamn beautiful. Some of my favourites from them: just follow my lead, this adorable pick-up line, literally everything they'd created for the expression-memes this year, long time no see partner and okay, technically this is cheating but this is a piece from 2022, but this portrait of artura is just i'mma cry okay?

@oh-so-youre-a-nerd: Thia's work is nothing short of frightening (affectionate) witchcraft and I mean this in the most sincere way possible lmaoo. I still have a lot of their stuff to explore, stalk and fan over, but their Raine artwork is just S-tier for me, like look at THESE THINGS: The villain arc, head empty still thinking about this, Trystan in a flowy lil dress and ofc their entire Raine x Aerin stuff because that's either the most depressing, poetic thing ever or a massive serotonin boost. I hope to see more of your stuff on my dash next year <33

@erixafleur: I came across Erica's work after lurking in the Blades side of the fandom and I loved their MC Raya's redesign so much! Plus I loved the art style too because it gives me Disney animation vibes. I hope to explore your work even more next year! @rosefuckinggenius: Rose's been a consistent force in the Choices fandom and I absolutely live for their work, okay? And I'm not just saying because I received this UNIT of an art piece from them for Trys and Nora - like I'm still in just awe. I'm also such a fan of the fact that their work is just really soft (if I can describe it that way) to look at - like I'm a sucker for soft colour palettes, okay?
