I know the Choices fandom isn't what it once was. Its heyday has long past. Creators continue to leave, but still, there are some new ones joining, there are creators that have been here since the beginning and are still holding on. The fact that there are so many people still here and creating is just amazing. I am so proud to be a creator in this fandom.

Choices Fandom Acts of Kindness - April 2024

Hello @moominofthevalley ! I am your secret pal for the @choicesfandomappreciation Acts of Kindness event. After driving relatives around to see the cherry blossoms last week, I thought this would be the perfect spring day for Trystan and Emily. But it's not all hearts and flowers; it comes with a bit of sarcasm, too. I truly hope you enjoy this, I always get nervous writing other characters, but I hope it fits! (This is some serious fluff! lol) Thanks so much for being such a kind and supportive member of the fandom—I'm so glad you're here! 🩷🩷

Emily attempted to hide the grimace on her face as she looked at her watch. It was 6:35, and she was more than ready to go home. Her aching feet would provide the perfect excuse, but that would require admitting Trystan was right about wearing more comfortable shoes, and she was not about to give him that.

"Trystan!" she hollered, but he had already taken off. Bolting ahead with the excitement of a child who had just spotted a candy display.

In some ways, he had. The city was coming to life after its long winter slumber. Flowers seemed to pop up everywhere, dotting the cityscape with vibrant bursts of yellow, purple, pink, and blue. New York was nature's canvas, and even the most jaded native had to admit... this artist had created a masterpiece.

Its crown jewels were the cherry blossoms in Central Park, and that's where Emily thought they were heading when they headed out at the crack of dawn. But, no. Trystan insisted on starting on the Lower West Side and meandering the length of Manhattan Island until they reached the crowning glory.

Emily walked as fast as her sore legs could take her; her enthusiasm for the beautiful blossoms had diminished somewhere around Rockefeller Center, but not Trystan. Trystan spun around, camera hung around his neck, taking shot after shot after shot. She couldn't help but roll her eyes as she approached him; the goofy grin on his face was priceless. No matter how much she wanted to go home, she wasn't about to deny him this, but that didn't mean she wouldn't tease him.

"Trystan Thorne," she huffed upon approach. "Do you understand that we live here? You're not a tourist; you don't have to take a million pictures to ensure you remember this all."

"Ah, but I do," he grinned. "We live in New York all year round, but these delightful pink treasures are here for a very short time, and I want to remember them."

Emily chuckled in spite of herself. She had to admit that Trystan's zeal and enthusiasm were softening this tough detective's edges, even if she didn't fully understand why.

"I don't get it. You've lived in New York for how many years? Yet you're acting like you're seeing spring in the city for the very first time."

"I am," he said, looping his arm around her shoulder and pulling her near. "After all, it's the first time I'm seeing it with you, and that makes everything immeasurably more beautiful than it was before."

Emily wrapped her arms around his waist, nuzzling her face against his body as she held him close. The moment was precious, and she craved the closeness, but there was more: she didn't want him to see the full effect of his words.

"Trystan, you need to stop this. I have a reputation to uphold, and you're doing all you can to erase it. I won't have it."

"Don't worry," he laughed, stopping to place a kiss upon her head. "You're reputation will still be firmly intact, and I'll defend it to the fullest. People will believe it too because the softer side of Emily Rose... that's something reserved for those closest to you, and this year, I'm so happy that includes me."

He let out a breath as her hand smacked his chest. "Stop it! Stop it, stop it, stop it! You're going to give me diabetes with all this sweetness."

"Fine," he smiled. "I'll dial it back. Besides, I know you're tired. Would you like to head back home?"

"I did," she said, watching the blue sky melt into a palette of purple and pink. Once more, nature put on a show for free. The air was beginning to take on a bit of a chill, but Trystans's embrace kept her warm. The truth was, she wished the moment could linger forever. "I did. But now... I don't want this to end. You're right; spring is entirely too short, and we should enjoy it."

"It is, but it's going to be a little longer this year."

"It is?"

"Sure is, spring's eternal now. I have it whenever I'm with you."

(I imagine about a week later, on a cold, rainy day, Trystan gave Emily the collage he created (above). She hung it on the wall in her bedroom, and though the skies were grey outside, spring was eternal... it lived in their hearts.)

Choices Valentine‘s Day Secret Admirer Event

For this years @choicesfandomappreciation I got @storyofmychoices as my secret match for this years Valentine‘s Secret Admirer Event 🥰 Gosh I was so thrilled when I got you as my secret match Dani 🥰

I just wanted to tell you, I have always admired you for your stories and your characters Dani. But especially for the kindness you always spread around. All the kind asks you send (not only to me but to so many other people in our small choices fandom family - as I like to call it -). You go out of your way to make others feel better, I always have some hard days with my anxiety so I appreciate your messages of kindness more than I can ever tell 🩷

I wrote a small fic and I hope it’s okay that I used your characters Mal and Daenarya for this short story 🥰 I really hope I could do them justice 🙈😅

The waves are crashing, sea gulls can be heard and the sun is shining, it’s warmth caressing my skin like a lovers embrace.

Mal and I were having a great day at the beach. I just got us some drinks when I heard a screech, almost sloshing the ale all over me and my sea green bathing suit.

I turn around only to see Mal with a stricken expression. Wondering what could’ve caused his reaction I get closer. Already assessing any threats around us.

When I can’t see anything remotely dangerous I let my gaze travel down to the water where Mal‘s gate went.

When I look down I see a scarlet red starfish on the at the bottom of water.

I snicker.

”Don’t tell me this tiny little starfish has you all scared?“ I take a sip from my ale and hand Mal his, who drinks greedily.

”I am not scared I…got surprised that’s all.“ I watch him over the rim of the glass as he circumvents the starfish at all costs while wading through the water.

”Good to know that if I ever get attacked by a starfish I know who to call.“ I say and Mal gives me a sour expression.

I laugh at his pouty mouth before I give him a gentle kiss. When we break off our kiss, I look into his dark brown eyes who are like two dark crystal orbs, that shine with laughter and love for me.

This right here is our time. And I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone but Mal.

Autumn looks up from her book when Mal flops down on their bed and sighs. Twice.

"Uh... Mal?"

He mumbles something that sounds like, "Yes, kit?"

"Is something wrong?"

"Something wrong, she asks. Yes, there's something wrong!"

"And that would be..."

"It's..." His already crestfallen face falls further. "Nothing. It's nothing."

Concerned, she puts the book down and lays a gentle hand on his cheek. "Mal, you know I'm here for you."

"You'll laugh."

"I promise you I won't."

"Fine. Is..." He pauses. Whatever the problem is, it's hard for him to talk about. "Is Tyril funnier than me?"

"What?"

"Tonight, everyone laughed at Tyril's joke, but only Nia laughed at mine!"

Autumn claps a hand to her mouth to avoid her own burst of laughter. "Mal, are you telling me that you're jealous of Tyril?"

"Do not even suggest that," he says, aghast. "I'm not jealous. I'm simply... confused."

"About what?"

"I'm the funny one! Not Elf Boy! So why was everyone laughing at his jokes!"

Oh boy.

"Come on, love, you know you're hilarious. This one joke didn't land, that's all."

He sits up and glares at her. "My jokes always land."

"And Tyril was in rare form tonight. There might be something to that fancy elf wine after all."

He gasps. "You think the wine bewitched our crew?"

"That's not what I..."

"Of course!" He slaps a hand to the mattress. "That explains everything! It wasn't the joke, it was the wine!"

"Mal, I don't think..."

"Thank you, kit!" He presses a kiss to her forehead and scurries out of the bedroom.

Autumn picks up her book again. He's lucky she loves him.

GGGAAAAHHHHH!!!! OH MY GOSH DID YOU HEAR ME SCREAM??!!! I woke up to this absolute gem of my Autumn and Mal!!! 😍🥰❤️

For @choicesfandomappreciation I just have to say... to everyone in this fandom here, you guys are awesome and cool and hilarious and best of all, so kind. I sort of "left" the fandom awhile back for personal reasons and every once in awhile, I'd lament to some other friends that I missed it and that I wish i'd never left - and every time i talked about this I'd always say that it never had anything to do with the people, cause everyone was always SO great.

Now I'm kind of hovering on the sidelines trying to see if I can creep back in a little bit and people have been supportive as hell about my stupid art that I've been sharing, and responding to my silly tags, and just generally being really kind and cool folks... thank you all so much and know that I love appreciate this fandom and I am incredibly touched whenever you guys comment or tag my stupid art even when it's a dumbass meme redraw or some shitpost of an art piece hahaha because IT HAS BEEN SCARY doing that, kinda putting myself back out there I guess!!! Day One of the @choicesfandomappreciation Kindness event. Thank you Thia for being so generous in sharing your art with us (your use of shadow and light symbolism lives rent free in my head forever) and thank you for hosting and organizing the fandom gift exchange. You are a gem!

Warnings & A/N: None that aren’t canon compliant.

The tent is quiet, though beyond them the festival still goes on. Laughter and music muted and dampened by the canvas walls. He can almost imagine that there is no one else but the two of them in the ruins of that old temple.

Aerin is asleep. He can tell by the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest which he watches from where he rests against Aerin’s shoulder.

He’s the most peaceful he’s ever seen him. The worry in his face has relaxed to a soft hint of a smile. The tension in his body has drained out of his muscles.

It brings him a small sense of relief to see. For this one moment, it’s one less worry he has. It’s healing in some small way that he doesn’t quite understand but accepts nonetheless. He will take healing in whatever small does it is offered them.

His eyes are drawn to the large, raised, purple scar that mars his lover’s chest and he traces its patterns with delicate fingers. They are strange and twisted paths. He’s not sure if he’s thinking of the scars or the journey that led them to find comfort in each others arms.

Does it matter? he wonders.

He decides it does not. Not really. Both are ugly, damaging, twisted, and stained. Stained with countless bad decisions and actions made by themselves and by others.

Both are beautiful in their own way. Each of those actions and bad decisions led them to each other. If he’s being honest, there was no other way to reach each other. Not when worlds and traditions separated them.

Dangerous and deadly paths can be made beautiful if you only have a bit of hope. Scars can be healed and trust mended with a touch of hope.

So he clung to that hope. Wrapping his arms around his hope. Holding it tightly, brushing back its hair to kiss his temple.

Yet hope is a beautiful and dangerous thing to cling to.

Hello Everyone!

First, I want to say thank you to everyone because... we still have a fandom! When I participated in this event in 2021, many wondered if we'd still be here in 2022. Then, in 2022, I really didn't think we'd make it to 2023, but look at us! We may be small and imperfect, but I am happy to still have each of you to share my crazy hyperfixations with!

I always get stressed out with these events because I'm sure I'll leave someone out, and it's not my intent (I just have wicked ADHD!) Thank you for your support - I love that you love my crazy Tobias and Casey - and when I started writing CoP this year, your feedback and encouragement meant the world to me. You are the OG CoP master! I remember when you were convincing me I could handle reading it, and I should have listened to you sooner! Oh, and thank you for loving my Casey and Jessica! I know they are beyond unpopular, but I love them, and having someone else who does too is just...asdfddf! I have your ask, and I'll have that done by the week's end - thanks so much, Mads!

Speaking of CoP, it was a real gamble when I decided to write for the incomparable Trystan Thorne this year. Given that our fandom is not always... nice... it was so scary. But some of you provided such kind feedback. It really encouraged me to keep going, and I'm so glad I did. I love the story, and I love us sharing it together. Thank you @starsarewithinme @moominofthevalley @aces-and-angels @brycesgirl @ao719 and @shadyinternetblizzard , and OMG, I know I'm forgetting someone here, and when it's not 1:20 AM and I'm not exhausted I'll remember correct that! lol, But seriously, thank you!

To @missameliep - I miss you, my cappy friend - but thank you for always geeking out with me over WTD. I know you're not on much these days, but you're still appreciated, and I'll never see a capybara and not think of you! lol

To @mydemonsdrivealimo, OMG, the way you've inspired me with T/C this year. You have no idea. I appreciate your support for them and Casey and Jess so much. I hope you know that! Casey could not possibly have better besties - and I cannot wait to explore more with all of our little idiots - that ice skating thing MUST happen soon!

To @storyofmychoices and @lilyoffandoms, I have much more to say to you later, but for now, I just want to thank you for loving T&C and for the crazy little world we've created with our little nut jobs. Lily, when you wrote that first drabble, who knew it would lead to kidnapping my girl! lol But I'm so glad it did! I know Tobias wasn't even an LI (as many an anon has pointed out! lol), and it was never a popular pairing, that makes your love for those guys mean even more to me. THANK YOU!

I saw the lovely @aallotarenunelma share a post like this for @choicesfandomappreciation and decided to participate, since these questions have been on my mind a lot this new year!

What are you looking forward to in 2024?

As far as Choices goes, I'm not particularly looking forward to anything that much. I have around 2000 diamonds saved, though, so I'm considering giving a chance to some books I've never played (like ATV, TE book 2 since I only played book 1). I also look forward to seeing the art and writing my friends inside and outside of the fandom produce and supporting them in their work!

Do you have any creative goals for yourself in 2024?

Oh boy, do I ever.

My big goal is to get a literary agent and take steps toward traditional publication. I have two novels at the ready. One is the first book of an epic fantasy series, The Murza Chronicles Book 1: Wayward Curse, and the other is a young adult contemporary novel focused on themes of family, mental health, and hope, called An Imperfect Ballad. I'm signed up to take a four-week virtual course on querying, and then I am going to prepare query packages for both novels, have those edited by professionals, and then start submitting to agents! I really hope that by the end of the year, I will have representation and be on my way to publication. (By the way, if anyone is interested in reading either one of my original novels, feel free to message me! I'm always looking for more feedback on my novels)

As far as creative works, I have a few goals:

Finish outlining the second book in the aforementioned fantasy series, and maybe even finish the drafting process! Its title is The Murza Chronicles Book 2: The Lost Rituals.

Finish the second half of Ace of Hearts, another young adult contemporary novel about an asexual hopeless romantic teenager, that I wrote the first half of during NaNoWriMo. After finishing, I hope I will be able to get started on the editing process and send the book out to some beta readers as well.

Plan and write the first draft of the script for a super secret horror visual novel that's in the works with a small team of people I worked with on ILW 🤫

With all this going on, I may also find some time to squeeze in some fics for the It Lives Series... we shall have to see ;)
