I'm so happy about the overwhelmingly positive response to my African Ankara Fabrics pattern collection post!

Thank you for all your reblogs, likes, and kind comments. I want to recap a bit and talk about my process and the struggles that led me to this moment. This was such a tough collection to publish, for several reasons. Picking the Patterns I made a lot of different kinds of fabric patterns and felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount and how I would fit all of them into one collection. Then there were designs that I couldn't get happy with and tweaked over and over. Something felt off about them even though they were done right. I finally made the decision to remove them for now and only focus on including patterns I felt good and confident about. Since there are different techniques used to make African fabrics, I decided to split my collection by type. I plan on having a wax print, batik, and mudcloth collection (though I am not making any promises because they will just give me anxiety and guilt for not meeting them). Creating the download overview graphic I had a hard time envisioning an overview graphic for these patterns. I started several attempts but they were not "it". I put off even working on the preview, which led to more anxiety and guilt. Initially, I wanted to post my collection in June, but time ticked relentlessly by. I created even more patterns to distract myself which meant I had to abandon my overview graphic WIP because now I had even more patterns to fit into those frames. Maybe because I thought I had already failed, it got easier to pick up the work in July, but I still had the problem that displaying all the patterns in different directions and sizes just did not look aesthetically pleasing and it was hard to focus and take in the individual designs. While talking about my struggles with my boyfriend, the solution presented itself: I would use only one thumbnail in the preview instead of showing all sizes and orientations. Since I always include the individual preview thumbnails for each pattern in my downloads anyway, I felt this was okay to do. You can still see all the individual designs and it is easier to grasp what designs are included, plus it is less work for me because I was able to reduce three images to one and also only had to puzzle 19 thumbnails into their frames instead of 69! That also made it possible to space out the patterns more to give each of them a bit more individual room to shine. I went with an unusual ultra-realistic design which was a bold move and in my mind would definitely stand out between all the cartoony previews I see a lot these days. I did not exactly plan this design, but it just evolved into that, as my previews often do. I just tweak colors, fonts, and textures until I see something I like.

What do you think about the realistic design and the choice to only display each pattern once?

In-game previews

I know, I have my same-old sims presenting my patterns in the same old way. I do want to spice things up in my in-game previews as well, but I had a choice to make, spend another month or two revamping my game, trying to add new sims, new styles, and all that only to get lost in the process, or JUST RELEASE THIS COLLECTION ALREADY. Also...I actually think YOU can style my patterns better!

Favourite Sims 3 Patterns

I think I'll do build/buy next..... maybe. Anyway--favourite patterns in Sims 3, in no particular order. @wanderingsimsfinds -- I use a variety of patterns from them; love, love, LOVE. @simlicious -- I also use a wide variety here, too Teekapoa's Patterns -- cute and simplistic (( in a good way! )) Seventh Destruction -- One of the only places I've found Lolita-type patterns (( and unfortunately, they aren't in .package form. XP )) Pleyita -- cute and simplistic as well! Pooklet -- unique, and I've always liked Pooklet's stuff in my TS2 game--so having their stuff in my TS3 game? Yes!! @fluttereyes -- a lot of great patterns here, too! @omfgingers -- a lot of cute patterns here @ktarsims -- I use a lot of their Halloween/spooky/goth patterns @murfeelee -- Also has some really cool patterns @sims3britishcc -- The name says it all, to be honest, but they reblog British patterns, and one of the (( older )) Simmers I liked patterns from was Tencentsims. @alovelikesims -- Loooove the choices of patterns! Yay, I fixed it! I hated the way the OG version came out, cuz I really wanted it to glow similar to how IRL Venus Girdles do.

Angler Fish FX Machine (LN EP REQ)

These things are frikkin frightening--y'all owe me for this, LOL.

I made TS4's Angler Fish a recolorable Late Night EP FX Machine so it could spit out bubbles, cuz ofc it should. Found under Party/Entertainment.

Fullbright: Neon Flock & Kelp Lights

I made Severinka's Neon Flock ACTUALLY neon, by making it glow with the Fullbright Shader, as well as making it recolorable. IDER what category it's in--use the Search mod like god intended.

The Kelp Outdoor Lights also have the Fullbright Shader.

EA Kraken as Decor

Includes 2 variations. Found under Lawn Ornaments (IIRC). This mesh is friggin huge, so you'll need a big enough lot to fit in on.

Hang 10 Seal as Decor

I took the Evil Seal mesh from EA's Surfing Station, and made it a Lawn Ornament. I added the retexture from @mspoodle1's Hang Ten mod. You'll need an OMSP with these.

Shell Wall Decor REDONE

I was NOT prepared for how huge & clunky the IP EP mesh was, omg. I reduced the scale, removed the USELESS square frame/border, and added an extra version with a Flipped mesh. Jfc, EA.

Pets EP Hay DR (Blue)

While playing with horses in Mermaidia I realized that their hay/straw was a garish yellow that made no sense underwater. So I decided to fix it. AFAIK this texture replacement only affects 2 items:

MAY : SIMS 3 & SIMS 4 : WHAT'S COMING UP :)

Let's begin with the Sims 4 ... April has been a bit disappointing I suppose, even we worked hard on numerous projects.

First, a flash and silent update for the Vertical Impasto Artworks. A little something in the interior frame of the painting that wasn't good enough : correction has been made and you can download again :)

Almost of our time has been about the k-707 Nature Mod ;) There are great satisfactions but also big frustrations ... We probably lost more braincells that it was needed. BUT … we have 95% of those damn trees covered.

We are stuck on some trees ( 5, maybe 6 ) and we search and search and search again some informations related on vertex paint which matter a lot since both colorimetry and rustle are enclosed in it. But we are still unable to extract the maxis information into the leaves and so, modify the trees from the deep in a way that is still ok for the game ...

Release a tree or a plant of 30k polygons only for the glitch and the fame is not at all our style. What is beautiful is not always suitable ;) and sometimes, what it seems to be beautiful in a picture is not not at all inside our favorite games :D

But let's talk about the Sims 3 now :) and more pleasant news ! At first, the big news : a NEW S3 WORLD is coming :) soon soon soon !

Shetland Harbour ... An island turned to the sea but filled with sheep. A good place to have whatever life you want for your lovely ( or not ) Sims ;) Shetland Harbour is a fishing town of course but not only. There's a true downtown and lot of places. And sheeps. A medium/large world, the first island we create since Lost Cove.

And for the first time, it won't be based on an EA known world ;)

But we'll talk much more about it in the coming weeks ;)

Then, will come quite quickly 3 Worlds UPDATES with significant changes inside, and various fixes that were long overdue :) Also, all community lots and some residential will be released too.

Oaksoak Hollow - Eureka Valley - Lost Cove

All 3 will come with their ANTS, CC, and Lots in separate folders ...

In addition, we are AT LAST working on some Sims 3 stuff and conversions, mainly build stuff and artworks ( for now ) :) 88 Patterns will be released quite soon, as soon as updates will be made on our website ( tech-hippie.com/sims3-lounge/ ) by my co-team partner :)

The Dark Terracotta roof and the Wood Skandi walls ( in both .sims3pack and .package ) will be released with Shetland Harbour.

Titanic Flooring Collection

Due to reasons relating to practicality and durability, most of the flooring in the common rooms on all clases, where made out of a brand new and resistent material: linoleum!

It wasn't seen aa tacky as we see it today, but rather groundbreaking and an elegant solution to the constant problem of worn-out floorings due to the constant use by several different people during the various voyages that were planned to take place. It was water-proof, rat-proof and pest-proof making it an excellent option for IIIrd Class Passenger that weren't exactly the cleanest of passengers for obvious reasons.

Not all public areas were covered in Linoleum, but Axminster Carpeting was found only in first class staterooms and public rooms, such as the Reception Room, the Lounge, the Reading and Writing Room and the À La Carte restaurant (the last two were covered in Pink DuBarry Carpeting that I could not find anywhere, if anyone has the textures I'd be really thankful) aswell as in its sister ships, the Olympic and the Britannic.

Water-proof flooring was vital in rooms such as the Turkish Baths and Swimmimg Baths, aswell as the private and comunal water closets.
