You are the last thread before he sinks completely into despair, his love for you is mixed with many other feelings such as hatred, regret, guilt and the desire for revenge to the point where he always clings to you, worried that you're leaving him.

I have an angst to fluff request. Could you please do Tsurugi Kinjo hearing his female S/O crying in the bathroom with the door locked because she feels like she’s a bad girlfriend? And when he comforts her for the fluff part? I both love and hate angst-

I despise angst with every bit of my heart. But this is fine.

I tried my best here.

Miscommunication (Tsurugi x Fem! Reader)

This is just another time he wished he didn't leave you alone all day. He thought he heard something over the heater running in the bathroom. Of course, he had to knock.

Knock once.

Knock twice.

Knock three times.

Then wait. Just like he was taught.

Had he been home earlier he'd know you've not been feeling emotionally stable for the most part in a while. He leaves you alone so often you began to wonder if that's because of you or because he actually has to work so much.

Once the thought snuck into your head, it stuck, and was determined to stay. Not that he was ever home to actually ask. How would you even bring up a subject like that anyways? Just be blunt and ask if he's intentionally leaving you alone because he was still mad? Would he even give you the luxury of an answer instead of ignoring you again? Was it even worth staying with him at this point?

You did something bad recently. Tried to get him to open up a little before he was ready to have that conversation. When he didn't react well and left you alone for days you decided to leave without giving him any kind of warning. All bad decisions, what you thought were the worst decisions you could make, as you'd soon find out.

Despite it being a few years since "the game" happened, he still wasn't ready to talk about the experience to anyone. Not even the therapist you got him.

He's probably forgot how he reacted. You certainly didn't though.

Seething anger, and seemingly hatred directed towards you. He almost started to scream at you before grabbing his temple.

"I can't do this right now."

That was the only thing he could say without snapping on you. He left soon afterwards, slamming the door behind him. You don't know where he went but he didn't come home for a few days.

You tried to tell yourself that he just went back to work, that burring himself in his work was his way of coping. You told yourself he'd be back tomorrow. Well, he wasn't. Nor the day after, the day after that, or the day after that. The day he came home was the day you actually got yourself out of the house.

You were out trying to have fun with your friends, or at least trying to forget what happened for a little while. To shake it off. He'd be ok, you told yourself. If he came home, at least he'd get a little bit of air. He wouldn't have to look at you and get mad again.

You knew he had a really bad habit of holding grudges against people who hurt him or his friends. Ones that he said warranted homicide in some cases. You figured if he got home before you would, you wouldn't have to deal with somehow triggering him again. You knew he would never hurt you but you couldn't help it, he can be scary at all the wrong times. It was better safe than sorry.

What you weren't expecting was for him to freak out when he found that your shared apartment was empty. He tried calling you a dozen times but you couldn't hear your phone ringing over the loud music your friends were playing in the car.

Your friends had the bright idea to go stay in a hotel somewhere in the next city over to catch a concert that was being held as a fundraiser the next day. They showed you a colorful flier for it, "Melody Rhythm", a new uprising band. They were getting you excited for a day of fun and relaxation. You threw all caution to the wind and said you'd go.

You figured that you not coming home would be a blessing for Tsurugi. He could have another quiet day to himself or spend another day pushing papers and catching bad guys without you getting in his way. You could turn your phone off, and simply enjoy the wonders of a new place with your best friends. Boy were you dead wrong.

He went so far as to tracking you down. He was a cop after all, he could do things like that. Maybe giving him some kind of excuse would have been good when you noticed he had called you a few times. You were sick of fighting with him though and figured he could wait. You gave him time, now it was your turn to have your time.

You didn't expect him to show up at the fundraiser, you didn't expect him to grab you in a way that hurt, and you didn't expect to be yelled at just because you wanted to have fun with your friends. You didn't expect for him to be angry at you in the slightest. You figured you were a grown woman, you could go and do what you pleased so long as you weren't cheating on him, or doing anything that would warrant the police looking into you. You didn't need to check in with him, you fought, you're blowing off your own kind of steam here.

And yet the reaction you got from him was the exact opposite of what you were expecting. As soon as he saw you in the crowd he grabbed you by the arm and dragged you away from your friends.

"Ow...! What gives Tsurugi?"

"Do you have any idea of how worried I was about you?"

"I-"

"I called you over twelve times and sent you god knows how many text messages. You didn't think to let me know you were out with your friends?!"

"Since when did I ever have to answer to you? You did the exact same thing and I certainly didn't bother you now did I? I spent 4 days waiting for you to come home, or call me, or send some kind of sign that you weren't still pissed with me. I got sick of waiting."

"I-"

"If you were so worried about me you wouldn't have left me alone for so long. So don't go turning this around on me!"

"Y/N-"

"I don't want to hear it right now. Just leave."

He loosened up his grip on your arm, allowing you to shake him off and walk away. He didn't follow you again, and the next time you checked, he was gone. You were able to enjoy what little of the concert that was left in peace. Your friends were just as freaked out about what happened as you were. You ended up staying at the hotel a few days more than you first planned to. You didn't want to go home.

For a while you'd ignore it. The fact that he could get angry so easily. You mention the wrong thing and it triggers him. He has to be away from you to feel better. You get it, he's still dealing with his issues. There isn't really a way you could help him and he told you that he didn't want help to begin with.

You weren't going to let him bully you for doing the same things as him. Not in the slightest. After a while though, you started to think you made the wrong decision. He wouldn't look you in eyes anymore and when he did, he would then look to the floor, closing his eyes, and shake his head in what you thought was disappointment. He hadn't stayed a night home for weeks.

He wouldn't even talk to you for the longest time. Short responses were all that you got. It all built up to this moment, you spending the night crying on the bathroom floor.

Then came the knocking.

One knock.

Two knock.

Three knocks.

He was waiting outside the door, wasn't he?

Maybe you could just ignore it for a few minutes.

"Y/N?"

Nevermind.

"Go away."

"Y/N, you know I have the key to this door."

"......."

You didn't bother laying in front of the door to keep him from getting in. If he had something to say, you figured it'd be better to just let him get it over with. You didn't move when he unlocked the door and came in to see you. He ended up kneeling down on the floor and turning you over himself.

"Why are you crying?"

"I haven't been the best girlfriend for you lately-"

"What makes you think that?"

"You haven't really been wanting to talk to me for a while, and you won't even stay the night or look me in the eyes."

"That's because I've been working and have been trying to come up with a way to apologize to you."

"For what?"

"For well...trying to control your life. The fundraiser?"

"......"

"I thought about what you said. You were right. I had no right to drag you away from your friends after the way I stormed out."

"I accidently triggered you-"

"I understand that. That doesn't mean you're a bad partner in any sense. I'm just....set in my own ways. Having you fight me like that woke me up a little bit."

"Mmm..."

"I'm sorry Y/N."

"...."

"You don't have to forgive me right now. Let's just get you off the floor ok?"

"Ok..."

There are definitely some things you two need to work out. Miscommunications is a big one on that list. For now, you're glad that he's staying home for the entire night. You hope that he meant it when he promised he'll be coming home more often to spend time with you. Though knowing him, it wasn't a lie.
