From 1950 to the early 1970’s, Ted and Marion DeGrazia produced a line of turquoise glazed ceramic tableware and gift items. For ease of production these saguaro bowls, and the body off the saguaro pitcher, were slip cast with liquid clay in one piece plaster molds.

In the early 50's the DeGrazia's started working on ceramics, this is when Ted perfected his copper-based glaze. NBC studios recorded a newsreel, called "Watch the World”, where they filmed Ted and Marion making these ceramics. He used original molds and his inspirations were taken from desert shapes and colors. Happy Throwback Thursday!
