okay but like. if y/n (fem) would be the "filling" in an ironstrange sandwich, and okay, it's a committed relationship and they're all roly poly and happy, but.

yk that study that was done about men, that if they can't get THE GIRL, they settle for the next convenient thing? and we all know it's palmerstrange and pepperony, always has been.

so y/n is with two men that let their it-girl get away, so they settled for the next best thing, each other. it makes sense, right? who else can relate to the hectic lives of geniuses with superpowers but they, themselves? y/n comes at some point and they grow on each other. like fungus.

but then it gets serious and she unwittingly discovers the complicated history between stephen and christine & tony and pepper. she sees the way steph gets around christine, all cheeky and shy; how free tony is with pepper.

so, our poor y/n has to think long and hard and face the painful reality of always remaining second in line. even despite christine being married to some guy and pepper having 25 hours in a day dedicated to work. y/n is simply not it
