I think it's weird how like. the avengers/other superheroes aren't comparable to anything in the real world, but the mcu is also constantly trying to compare them to something. like in phase one they're sort of military esque?? with the exception of tony and steve, people aren't like aware of them as people, they just kind of exist alongside the military as super weapons.

then in the cacw-endgame era they're all at a certain level of celebrity status. peter obviously knows who tony stark is and idolizes iron man to a certain extent, but the only sort of memorabilia he has is the mask from the stark expo, which given the everything about tony, makes sense, and in context is not a rlly weird thing to have.

and then now, a lot of them are treated fully as fictionalized/mythologized characters?? kamalas room is COVERED, not only in her own captain marvel fanart, but also in official posters and merch. she has captain marvel tshirts that have comic book covers on them, as if she exists in our world where captain marvel is a fictional superhero and not like. an asset of the US air force. she's writing fanfic about a woman who has not been seen publicly since the 90s?? which tbf, I guess people writing beatles rpf are in similar trenches.

And I ADORE how UTTERLY STUPID he is. I think he’s dumber than Launchpad because Launchpad is aware that he’s not exactly the smartest guy but Steelbeak GENUINELY thinks he’s smart. Plus he feels the joke. That’s just dumb and unfunny (in-universe at least. out of universe it’s great)

This one was super fun and emotional. I was not expecting this to be the episode that the Rescue Rangers would make their debut in but I’m glad they were here. Dewey and Launchpad’s friendship is so pure and adorable. I almost wish there hadn’t been a b-plot but it was fun. I know other people are upset over Steelbeak/the Rescue Rangers being different but I like them. This show is different from those shows. Steelbeak was repurposed into being Launchpad’s nemesis so he needed to match him. Plus we already have a bunch of smarties in FOWL. And this Steelbeak seems younger and less experienced so it would make sense that he’s not as clever. The Rangers didn’t really change that much from their show, just got a new origin that helps them fit into the world that has already been set up. I think this episode is going in the top 5.

SKC's Jaylin Lindsey reflects on debut season, eyes Defender of the Year

Just five months ago, Jaylin Lindsey lived one of his dreams. But he’s got many more to achieve.

Lindsey made his MLS debut with Sporting Kansas City in June, entering as a substitute in a 4-1 win against Minnesota United. The 18-year-old then started six of the next seven games for his hometown club.  

“It was amazing,” Lindsey told MLSsoccer.com last week. “It was something I worked really hard for from preseason until my debut and it was awesome. I’ve always dreamed of playing in front of the fans, it was just something that’s unforgettable, you know? You usually don’t get that experience at that type of age.”

By the time the 18-year-old walked up to the fourth official on June 3, he knew he belonged. 

“I said to myself that I was ready in preseason,” Lindsey said. “I started with the guys a little bit, got to know them a little more, I feel like I did really well. I held my own through all the game I played and did my best. At that point, I felt that I was ready for this level to play in MLS.”

Lindsey had to wait a few months before getting that opportunity, but when Seth Sinovic went down with injury, on came Lindsey. 

He assured himself he wouldn’t shrink in the moment.

“I was pretty confident because debuts can be a little nerve-wracking, that was my mentality heading into the season,” Lindsey said. “If I got an opportunity, I’d take the chance.”

Lindsey was voted No. 20 in MLSsoccer.com’s 22 Under 22 rankings, recognized as one of the brightest young players in the league. It’s just the beginning for Lindsey, who is currently with the U-20 US national team at the U-20 Concacaf Championship. They play Suriname on Friday night, hoping to inch closer to qualifying for the U-20 World Cup. After four matches, they are 4-0 with a +30 goal difference.

“For next season I’m going to try, in the national team side of it, make the World Cup,” Lindsey said. 

But his aspirations don’t stop on the national front. The 18-year-old has goals to achieve, including the biggest individual honor in the league for a defender: winning MLS Defender of the Year. 

“For a club perspective, my goal is to be a regular starter within the team and get a lot of minutes in MLS,” Lindsey said. “My next goal is to be one of the nominees for Defender of the Year. It’s just my goal and I’m going to work hard for it.”
