Before the “big reveal” and all, how did the first encounter with Evan and Mike turn out? (Like when Mike thinks that they are all torturing him for a reason) (essentially when Mike gives up hope lol)

Aka, was Evan possessing golden Freddy at the time? Who else (if applicable) was there during this encounter?

I actually don't have it all planned, so this answer will be pretty short

Evan and Michael actually never really met before the reveal (when Evan discovers that it's not William, but it's Michael the one trapped in UCN)

It was actually Cassidy, still possessing Golden Freddy, the one who told Michael that "no one cared about him, and that even Elizabeth and Evan hated him"

One of the main reason of why Michael is so self-destructive is that William always seemed happier when Michael was crying and/or in pain, so Michael convinced himself that people were happy when he was suffering.

The other big reason is that he wanted retribution for "his sins" (he thought that his father's sins stemmed from him killing Evan, but in reality the problem was only William, who started in his evil ways long before the Bite of '83), and still wanted to suffer for them even after all the pain he went through because "it wasn't enought for him".

He's thankfully getting better, but his self-destructive mentality is still there and probably will never go away fully

I always imagined that after brutally dying so many times, Michael would eventually snap at everyone and his soul turn twisted.

So how did Michael not go berserk for so long while trapped dying so many times?

Because he thought that that was his own Hell.

He thought that it was his punishment for killing Evan, leaving Elizabeth alone (he was supposed to watch her the day she died), failing to free faster all the trapped souls and failing to get William arrested the moment he noticed that there was something wrong with him.

He started to think that after he found out that Evan was helping with the whole UCN thing, so he just... gave up.
