read the first issue of uncanny avengers! really like it, always love Actual Ally Steve Rogers, way better than when they just make him a bootlicker like in AvX + him being cool with the team being kinda murder-y is nice
love the team too, psylocke and penance havent had a chance to shine since x-corp and hellions tbh and i always love more rogue content, and deadpool isnt annoying! isnt that nice!
once again the fall of x has had a really shitty start with the gala and SoS, but the stories so far have been at least okay, dont completely trust creative to make it work but still
poor blob tho

Uncanny Avengers just ended. As a Quicksilver fan how did you find it? Anything you would like/like not to see carried over or explored for our favourite speedster going into Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver?
There's not much to say about Pietro's role in the series. I appreciate that it reaffirmed his friendships and good working relationships with the cast members from the previous run of Uncanny Avengers. I think that having him aid the mutant resistance was a really good decision, because A) it cements the fact that he and Wanda are both back on good terms with the mutants and B) it places him back in a firmly heroic role, which, y'know, hasn't always been the case in the last couple decades.
Duggan's character work wasn't exactly stellar in this series, but I think Pietro came across as snarky and catty while still retaining an overall kinder, gentler personality-- with a lot of charm!-- that I would expect from him post-No Surrender. Overall, I don't think he was very different from the version of the character we saw in #1 of Scarlet Witch. His dialogue was a little strange, and he was a bit too friendly and deferent around Steve for my taste, but I think that's a matter of Duggan not having a good grasp on the character's voice. I felt the same way in 2015.
My hope for SW&Q is that Orlando will find time to at least mention the mutant plight and Pietro's work with the resistance. He really glazed over it in Scarlet Witch, but I think if the twin are still grappling with Magneto's legacy, then it needs to come up at least once.
As for Pietro's relationship with Monet.... I could take it or leave it. I think it was really fun, and I like their personalities together, but unless they're in a book like Uncanny Avengers, they lead very separate lives and it might be hard to fit them into each others' stories. (That was kind of the problem with Emily, too, although the fact that the Inhumans just vanished from publication didn't exactly help.) So, if Orlando finds a way to give M a shoutout, that's great, but I would rather wait to see where she's going to land as Fall of X continues before we touch back in with their relationship.

I support this, 100%.
Beyond that, I don't think Duggan added or subtracted anything really important to Pietro's character. It was a good ensemble role for him, and if this team pops up again in Fall of X, I hope he'll be with them. Overall, Uncanny Avengers is one of my favorite landing places for Pietro, so I'm glad he was in this book, and I hope he'll be in the next version, too. Oh, and shoutout to the colorist for adjust his skin tone-- it looked way better by the end of the series.

Alright, we're going to delve into Uncanny Avengers Vol 4 for a bit because 1) there's some tie-in with the Fall of X stuff and 2) it has Steve and this is a Steve and Tony blog. This run is a direct sequel to the FCBD issue and opens with Doctor Stasis and MODOK (both of who were involved in the attack on the Hellfire Gala) scheming in front of a mysterious figure, presumably the one who donned the Captain Krakoa suit. Meanwhile, Ben Ulrich, the owner of the Daily Bugle, muses about what the real truth of things is. Also meanwhile, Psylocke (Kwannon) and Penance (Monet St. Croix) are crashing an Orchis operation and knifing a bunch of baddies down when Steve finds them and asks them to join his new Avengers team. They agree, and with the three of them plus Deadpool, Rogue, and Quicksilver, make up the new Uncanny Avengers.

The gang flees from the Orchis operation. Penance asks about the Stark Sentinels and Steve assures her that Tony is working on it.

The new team regroups in the Morlock tunnels under Manhattan and meet up with some other X-Men and - hey, is that Tony? It's Tony, drinking ginger ale. And "Hazel Kendal", who everyone knows is actually Emma Frost. Tony assures them himself that he is working on how to stop the Sentinels.
Sadly, Steve can't stay for long, as the Uncanny Avengers have got to run, but Steve assures the non-Uncanny-Avengers they'll keep an eye on the "dead drops". They go and fight Captain Krakoa and his own team that he's been assembling, consisting of the Blob, Wildfire, and two Fenrises (I have no idea who they are). Steve goes up against Captain Krakoa, intent on unmasking him, but Captain Krakoa is stronger than a baseline human and ends up breaking Steve's arm, and the issue ends.

Uncanny Avengers will return to store shelves starting in August by the team of Gerry Duggan and Javier Garron. But before that they’ll appear in a story in Marvel’s Avengers/X-Men Free Comic Book Day title coming in May, and the need for their return will be revealed in July’s X-Men: Hellfire Gala one-shot, which kicks off the Fall of X storyline.

I'm a little bit slow on this but We again had an awesome Free Comic Book Day this past Saturday!! 😁😁 it was pretty much the same as last year right down to the weather it was good in the morning it wasn’t too cold or too hot but it did get a bit windy and cold in the afternoon. but it was great! So we had lots of books and lots of people!! And again like last year there was a bit of a line forming when we got there at 9:30am like maybe 4-6 waiting outside and we didn’t open until 11am but things were moving pretty quickly and smoothly plus we had some treats to munch on, plenty of sales and of course Free Comics!! here is what I brought home from Free Comic Book Day 2023

Psylocke's thoughts on The Avengers In 2023
Tumblr media
I know that 2013 Psylocke (Betsy Braddock) and 2023 Psylocke (Kwannon) are technically two separate characters but it was just funny seeing Betsy say the iconic "The Avengers can go fuck themselves" to Kwannon joining forces with them later.
I prefer Betsy's/ 2013 Psylocke's outlook and attitude in regards to The Avengers.
