The Five Sorrowful Mysteries of Andy Africa by Stephen Buoro

Bio: Tessa is the bastard daughter of Haytham Kenway. Born a full month after her older brother Connor, Hyatha was unsure what to do with the baby. He chose to get rid of her, and wash his hands of her. But, Edward saw this, and decided to adopt Tessa. Edward, James and others who knew the truth behind Tessa's birth father, choose not to tell her out of trying to protect her from the truth. As Tessa and Connor grew up and started there training there father was keeping tabs on them. Haytham saw the vast amount of potential that kids held and wished to take them and train them. He tied twice. The first time he tried, he used a grim. 

This backfired, Tessa was outside playing with Jacob and Evie and the dog attacked them and his daughter. The plan only backfired due to Edward being there and killing the dog. The second time he tired was a few weeks later. Both Edward, James and Ziio were away so it was a perfect time to strike. Only it didn't work out the way he wanted to. The kids were indeed kidnapped, but what Hyatham didn’t plan on was for Adewale, Benjamin and Achilles to be there. The three hunters were able to save the kids. Those the hunter’s didn’t learn anything for the kidnappers; they were keen to keep a close eye on the pair. Haytham didn’t try again after that. But, he did keep tabs on both kids. 

As Tessa grew she developed a couple of rivalries. One of them was with Jacob. But, they grew out of it, as the rivalry died and they saw each other as equals and ended up dating. Her second rivalry is with John Rackham. The pair have not grown out of there rivalry and it has in fact grown to become something of a bitter rivalry, and  they both try to outdo each other. 

Personality: Tessa comes off as being a sweet, polite and innocent young woman. In reality she is polite and sweet but not at all innocent. Tessa can be hot headed, brash and impatient. She hides her hot headedness and hides her temper very well to the point no one knows she has one. Tessa can also be a quiet and revered person, and is very clever and smart. Tessa also has an eye for detail and is fiercely loyal and protective of her friends and family.

Aside Okenla, Abdulfatai Oyedeji, Tunde Labiyi, Debo Adeosun, Adeola Adedotun and Bukola Owolabi, I remember being allowed to go feature and learn from uncle Feyi Ogunduyile at NTA Ibadan and on Yoruba Sports with Jubril Abimbola Arowolo also at NTA. I was the youngest among the set of analysts on air then featuring alongside the likes of Rev. Yomi Durodola, Baba Gabriel Afolabi and Elder Adesina, Is real Akinlawon among others. I was the first guest analyst on BCOS TV Yoruba Sports program achored then by aunty Adeola Adedotun and Adewale Tijani TJ Sports before becoming the pioneer Sports presenter/Producer on NTA Oyo. I was very good at both English and Yoruba Sports casting but obviously better in English. I witnessed the evolution of sportscasting with the advent of modern technology. My generation therefore was previledged to be the bridge between the past and the present generation reason why I still appeal to generational divides. I was equally privileged to pioneer weekend sports program on BCOS FM now Oluyole 98.5fm. The fortification of Nath Adewale Akande My journey with him started in 2002 as we both gained admission to the University of Ilorin. Interestingly, he was one of the lucky few that started out in the Department of English but few weeks later he moved to the Faculty of Law but we were in touch. Pregnancy: Fans slam Davido over handcuffed women

Supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari on social media came hard on popular musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, for handcuffing and parading two women who had jokingly accused him of impregnating one of them. Davido’s hype man, known as Special Spesh, had posted a video on Instagram showing the two women, Helen and Susan, handcuffed and sitting on a chair in a living room. Spesh could be heard telling one of the ladies to lift up her head or get a slap in the face. Davido also shared the video, defending the action of his sidekick. However, some of Buhari’s supporters on social media reminded Davido how he attacked the President during the Osun governorship election but was never touched. They accused the musician of being a hypocrite and abuse of power. Popular Buhari supporter, Kayode Ogundamisi, said on Twitter that Davido would have abused power if his uncle had emerged as the governor of Osun State He tweeted, “Imagine Davido as first Cousin in Osun State with his uncle Isiaka Adeleke as Governor and Buhari is meant to be the tyrant o!” Another Buhari supporter, Jack Obinyan, said Davido should have left the women alone after they apologised for the prank. He tweeted, “After the public apology, why will the girls be handcuffed and dehumanised in that manner?  Davido is crap! Who arrested him for all the nonsense he said during the Osun elections? I dislike this guy now.” Ayo Oyalowo, popular Buharist, said it was laughable that Davido could call the President a tyrant and then act in such a manner. Oyalowo tweeted, “How come a simple civil case turned into handcuffs, harassment and videoing them? Ambode: Court summons Obasa, others over probe

The battle between the Lagos State House of Assembly and former Governor Akinwumi Ambode has shifted the court. Instead of Wednesday’s drilling session on the floor of the House, both parties will appear before Justice Y.Y. Adesanya. Mr. Ambode has sued Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and members of the panel raised by the House to probe some of his activities in office. Accused of mismanaging resources and failure to get legislative approval for some of his projects, the lawmakers summoned the former governor to appear the House panel today. Ambode told an Ikeja Court on Tuesday that the 820 buses procured by his administration got budgetary approval from the House of Assembly. He said the purchase was captured in the state’s 2018 Appropriation Law as a Capital Expenditure under the heading ‘LAGBUS Public Transport Infrastructure (MEPB); Part financing of 820 buses’. According to him, it was unconstitutional for the House to attach another condition in Section 9 of the Law for further approval to be sought before incurring any expenditure on the purchase of the buses. Ambode made the claims in a motion ex-parte moved by his counsel, Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN). He prayed the court to, among others, halt the planned probe of the buses procurement by the lawmakers. Granting his prayers, Justice Adesanya summoned the Speaker, House Clerk, Mr. A.A Sanni; Chairman of the Ad hoc Committee set up by the House to probe the procurement, Fatai Mojeed and members of the Committee. The others to appear are: Gbolahan Yishawu, A.A Yusuff, Yinka Ogundimu, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, M.L Makinde, Kehinde Joseph, T.A Adewale and O.S Afinni. They are to appear before the Judge today. Justice Adesanya also ordered the originating processes and all the accompanying processes filed by the claimant (Ambode) to be served on the defendants and subsequently fixed today for hearing of the motion for interlocutory injunction. In his suit, the former governor is contesting the constitutionality of the probe. According to him, the buses were procured based on budgetary approval as part of the Bus Reform Project of the state government designed to revolutionise public transportation in line with global best practices. He alleged that some of the lawmakers breached his “constitutional rights to fair hearing” on August 27, 2019, when, during proceedings of the Assembly, they criticised and accused him of purchasing the buses without budgetary approval and that the procurement was a waste of public funds. According to him, the lawmakers who raised the accusations also constituted themselves as the probe panel. He denied allegations made on October 10 that the House extended an invitation to him to appear before the Committee but that he failed to honour it. The former governor also averred that no former Commissioner who served in his government indicted him when they appeared before the House on October 15, 2019. Ambode also claimed that the “entire members of the House” had already adjudged him as having committed wastage of public fund by the procurement of the buses. He is seeking several reliefs including a declaration that “sections 8 and 9 of the Appropriation Law of Lagos State 2018 which required the approval of the House of Assembly of Lagos State before certain expenditure of money is incurred by the Executive Branch of the State is … unconstitutional.” Ambode is also seeking a declaration that the lawmakers have no power to indict him. In a publicized invite entitled: “Notice of summons: Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode (the former Governor of Lagos State), is signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr. A. A.  Sanni, the Assembly reminded Ambode of the importance of appearing before the Committee to shed light on alleged infractions raised by the Assembly. The notice said: “The Lagos State House of Assembly, pursuant to Section 129 (1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) hereby summons His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the former Governor of Lagos State (May, 2015 – May, 2019) to appear before the Committee of the House on Wednesday, 30th October, 2019 at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium, Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja by 1.00 p.m.” He will be asked to clarify the following: Unauthorised discounting of Promissory Note; Purchase of 820 Buses by your administration without due authorisation; Misappropriation of Special Expenditure Funds; Improper implementation of the Appropriation Law; and Non-adherence to the Financial Regulations of the State. The notice urged the former governor to provide the Committee with documents to justify that the transactions did not violate constitutional provisions. It reads: “You are kindly requested to furnish the Committee with fifteen (15) copies each of all relevant document(s) relating to the issues raised through the Office of the Clerk of the House on or before Tuesday, 29th October, 2019. “It is pertinent to state that your presence at the proposed meeting would give you the opportunity to shed light on issues that are material to the investigation. Disney Channel has dated the small-screen debut of the all-new animated movie and TV series set in the world of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Tangled. Fans of Tangled rejoice. A new trailer for Rapunzel’s new television show Tangled: Before Ever After has arrived. In it, we see a dark haired Rapunzel growing her hair back to blond. The series will begin with a full on Disney Channel Original Movie before moving to the television series format.

This new series will take place between the events of the Tangled and the 2012 theatrical short Tangled Ever After.

Tangled: Before Ever After will have Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi return as the main characters Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. To Protect a Friend

Possible spoilers for Turn: Washington’s Spies Episode 2x07, but otherwise the only cw I have is a mention of strangulation though it is not the main part of the fic itself. A fixit fic with my OC, Theodosia Gist and William “Billy” Lee. Fic under the cut. 

Summary:  When Washington suffers a melancholic attack, he asks Theodosia and Billy to stay and help him figure out the cause of the attack. When things so south, however, it leaves one hurt, and one struggling to find the right words to say to help numb the pain.

It had started and ended in a moment. Billy had joked about a bad hand and was on his back, Washington’s hands squeezing his throat. Theodosia stood instantly, her hands curled into fists blood rushing in her ears, blocking out any of the Commander’s words before, finally, he let go, grabbing his cloak and leaving. Theo’s breaths came in quick, short gasps as she tried to piece together what had happened, what had gone wrong to make him so angry. She was shaking, her throat tight. She looked around the tent, wondering what ingredients they had to make a tea or anything that would help the two of them calm down. She moved towards Billy, hating the fact that he flinched when she touched his shoulder. “It’s ok, it’s ok,” she said, gently, her hands moving to his face to wipe away stray tears with her thumbs. “I’m so sorry,” she continued, moving to gently tilt the man’s chin upward so she could see if there was any bruising, any open wounds that needed to be taken care of. “That should have never happened. No matter what you had said, he had no right to hurt you in that manner.” She turned to look around at the mess, one that she shoved out of her mind. “Take a seat, please. But, please, tell me where you keep the coffee, tea, ale?” Billy slowly moved towards a seat and looked at her in mild confusion. “Why, ma’am?” “None of that ma’am business, please, call me Theo. And I only want to know because I figured some tea will help us calm down. I know my nerves are still on high alert, and I have a feeling that you need something other than Barbados rum to help settle you down.” More confused than anything, Billy pointed to a drawer, and Theo went to it, grabbing coffee and then going to brew it. She took a deep breath and then glanced over at Billy. He watched her from his chair, and she wondered what thoughts were going through his mind. “When my mother was a child,” she started, “she lived on the island of Nassau with her father, and a man named Edward Kenway. Kenway was the captain of the Jackdaw and his quartermaster, a man named Adewale. Adewale was a maroon, a strong man that wore the mark of a slave, but had the hands of a pirate, or sailor.” When the coffee was made, she stood and gently poured two cups before handing one to Billy and continuing her story. “She used to tell me stories of that man, Adewale, and the mark that he would forever leave on her life. She was an abolitionist, very much against the slave trade. Her best friend, and one of my uncles, was a man named Jack Weeks. A freedman told me from the moment I was old enough to understand his words that it would never matter what skin tone a person was- it was the strength of their character that mattered the most. Where they put their heart, what good they did to help correct the evils.” She paused and looked at him. He seemed confused by the story, so she chuckled and went to clarify. “I followed my mother’s footsteps into this, not my father’s. My father was a privateer by trade, helping the British in the French and Indian war. My mother stood beside Colonel George Monro at Fort Fredrick when the man was killed. I don’t think my mother was ever really the same after that. I guess what I’m trying to tell you is; I want to be your friend, if not someone you can come vent too. Life is hard out here, and if you don’t have someone to lean on, it can be twice as hard.” She looked away, taking a sip of her coffee as a somewhat uncomfortable silence fell. Billy copied her, and then said, quietly, “Thank you.” “No, no, no…” Theo looked at him. “I should be thanking you. You’ve taught me so much in the space of two years that I thought I would have never learned before.” She paused and shot him a rueful grin. “Like how to get kicked by a horse and not feel any pain.” They shared a laugh at that, and Billy stood, moving to his cot and pulling out a bag. “Billy, you need to be resting, what are you doing?” She stood, placing her cup down and walking over to him, gently taking his cup and putting it aside. “You have every right to want to leave, and I don’t blame you for wanting too. But there is a storm brewing outside. You could be hurt, and I won’t allow that to happen.” They paused and looked up as the dispatch rider entered. “The General’s not here,” Billy said, moving a step away from Theo. “Don’t know when he’ll be back.” “Do you have his letter?” the man asked. “It’s half midnight.” “No, sir,” Theo said, thankful to be wearing men’s clothes and not a dress, though her short hair was loose. “But, if you need to leave, then you need to leave.” The man nodded and went to leave. Billy and Theo shared a look before Billy called to the rider. “Wait. It’s best you wait for a half-hour and check back at midnight.” The man nodded and left the tent, leaving a silence except for an echo of the tent flaps closing. Billy moved towards the table, gathering Washington’s writing gear as Theo cleared the table and started to pick up the cards. They both froze and looked over to the entrance as Washington appeared there, looking from one to another. “I require fresh paper,” he said and went to hang his cloak up as Billy grabbed the paper, and then go help Theo pick up the mess.
