Here is another piece from my "Unity" series I created in 2016 when I felt there was added tension in the world. I wanted to show the world united through landmarks and architecture from across the globe. Today...I think about how the entire world now shares a singular, common problem. It makes me fully realize how truly interconnected the world is. While borders have been closed, assistance of medial solutions, scientific research, and various forms of help have shared. As I continue to process this crazy upside-down world we currently live in...the key thing that comes to mind is how this virus has effected literally everyone...the wide diversity that makes up our country. The few times I have been out walking or going to a store, we are all in the same headspace...being careful about our spacing, being clean...and a sense of how fragile we all are. It reminded me of this piece I made after the 2016 election. The USA was totally divided and so much hate was being thrown around. I created this piece to express how our cities, suburbs, country-sides, costal areas, midlands, and mountains can be expressed together to show what defines America and how we are still whole – and to create a visual wish we could get along better. Now, it has a new meaning to me...that even though we are distanced apart, we can stand together, from coast to coast to make it through...and hopefully come out stronger for it. "PORTLAND IN FLUX" - A piece I made in 2018 in response to the massive building boom and total transformation of the city over the past 8 years. Growth and change are inevitable…I just wish the new Portland developments were done more thoughtfully by taking measures to protect historical buildings and build better support infrastructure. NOW...on a whole other scale, Portland and the world is in major flux. So much massive change is happening in an instant. While I also don’t like this forced hardship…I have hope that a pandemic this big will bring massive change and transformation that is needed. The world was running at such high political, economic, social, and environment tensions…it feels like the bubble has bursted and now we are forced to work together. VIRTUAL BRIDGES: I am further impressed with amazing outpouring of supportive messages, actions, and virtual hugs flooding my feeds. Every little bit helps. My new-updated print of New York City. This is an adapted skyline using the view of downtown to get some of the best of the best skyscrapers in the scene. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can't help see this and think of how rough they have it in New York (and New Jersey) - basically the epicenter of the crisis right now.
