Social Media Final Campaign

1. Goals:

Discovering other creators / professionals that share interests and commonalities with my work. Finding potential collaborators / teams in my field / interests. Understanding the type of content that satisfies me as a creator. Developing an audience that is interested in my style of work.

2. Target Audience:

I would like to believe my target audience could be any age, but I think college age (18 - 22) through 30s is more likely. Primarily creators interested in speculative design / experimental design / ecological design / etc. as well as Casually interested creative types who find the concept + stream of content intriguing. Peers that are interested in networking as I am

Hashtags are effective for reaching my target audience, as I think these types of creators are actively tracking tags in search for people to follow and network with.

3. Competitive Research:

I have not found campaigns fully utilizing the potential of social media as a medium for their work, although I’m sure they exist.

4. Choose Channels:

I’ve decided I will use Instagram as a standalone platform.

Instagram’s affinity for video and photo content is hard to argue with — I also believe much of my target audience value instagram as a place to find my type of content.

Twitter is also compelling as it has the ability to make any account posing as an organization appear to be vaguely ‘real.’ It seems like a platform that anyone could / would use — which makes it feel believable that my fictional group could be using it. However, I feel that it will be more beneficial to focus on one platform and focus my efforts there. Attempting to integrate twitter has so far proved to be more time / effort than it is worth.

I will temporarily but fully convert my current Instagram account “nm_dsn” to a new page, temporarily deleting the current content on it and replacing it with new content. Current followers / people who know me personally will most likely pick up on this change, while other creators / blogs that aren’t paying as close attention may not. Both reactions are OK.

5. Content Strategy:
 Pieces of data / research / journal entries / sketches / physical prototypes / etc. will be catalogued in a uniform fashion and uploaded as entries to IG. These posts will appear to be in real time, with the month and day included in each entry.

I will use the back catalog from my project thus far, as well as create new entries based on my progress over the next month.

Content will include graphical slides that include text. photos, gifs, or short videos.

6. Engage:

I will directly reach out to other IG and Twitter accounts, posing as my fictional group, through direct messages and/or tagging them on content that relates to them.

These messages will include requests for information, resource sharing, or whatever else emerges from the content.
