we never see any of the werewolves, nor werecats, transform into humans over the course of all previous mh gens even though, due to their namesakes, they should in fact also be human instead of solely being wolf and cat people

I wonder if in g3 that is another distinction? like some monsters are literally just wolf people but some monsters are actual werewolves and can change back and forth?

Birthday haul 3, the final birthday haul

last but certainly not least (in fact, i saved them for last because they are my favorite of the 3 i picked up) is Monster Fest frankie! as irl unboxed photos started to be released, this because the monster fest doll i was the most excited for. i am so happy to have them in hand… this doll is so, so cute. yall.

face card! this frankie has a lot of my favorites on frankie -dark lip (this shiny metal grey… it’s probably the best lipstick color they’ve ever had.) -asymmetrical makeup (and this whole doll goes ham with the asymmetry) and…. Bangs! i love bangs on frankie… and these are really cute. the chunky streaks are similar in execution to fearidescent, but lay much nicer in saran. im also a huge, huge fan of this mostly black hair blend for frankie. it stands out so much!

screen printed detail check. a lot of frankie’s have been going ham on the trans colors, (and this one has all of them too,) but this one is loud and proud pan flag. this is a really really cute and well balanced color scheme overall.

shoe check. this frankie has these cool, disco ball heels, that have these separate yellow pieces attached to them. and also a unique leg mold! frankie’s prosthetic blends into the shoe on the side it’s on, and i think it looks cool as hell. i do love when they do something fun with the prosthetic, though in previous dolls that’s usually just been changing the color of it, so to see a whole new mold is super fun

another detail. these cute little fingerless gloves! theyre separate pieces, but they stay on very securely unless you remove the hands.

accessory check! this time we’ve got another bag, another camera, another ticket (and two ticket rolls, one of which i almost lost when unboxing bc it was so tiny, lol.) a fancy lightning bolt shaped drink cup, a black-bun hot dog, and of course, another pair of sunglasses. i do like the mold on these ones tho

with some accessories on! i have to say, i think the bag isn’t doing much for this look. it’s a little much and less cohesive than clawdeens. probably won’t display them with with it. again, as well, the glasses are cute, but i want to see their face.

now that i’ve unboxed all of them, i had to squeeze them in somewhere. i ended up sitting frankie down on this shelf to make a little frankie corner (since that blue-haired peach riot is also a frankie… maybe i should get a little one piece franky to put with them too.)

i have to say, frankie has become easily my second fav of the g3 mh cast. them being nonbinary is an awesome change, and they’ve been getting hit dolls recently that i really love… welcome committee, when they figure out where the hell they’re releasing you… i’ll be picking you up too.

as for the monster fest pair i picked up, i really don’t have a spot or stands for them. i just have the one stand, so i decided to sit them down in the misc section on my desk

absolutely obsessed with these two. can’t wait to pick up the cleo and lagoona from the line too! (and draculaura… well, she’ll be a project doll. i think i can save her.)

At last I manage organized my spare time so I decided to realize my version Monster High characters Gaia Online part 3

FOR REAL THIS TIME

Side Note: I made few modifications with ms paint because I couldn't find the right items that could fit my vision of MH characters Things that I changed: Added scales in Deuce's arms and his shirt, Holt's clothing Manny's tail and Invisibilly's drink

1. Deuce Gorgon (male version)

Its combination of G1 and G3 Deuce. I still like the idea that G1 Deuce is half human/ half gorgon but with more scales in his body.

I give him red sunglasses, purple jacket, red and black striped shirt, black belt with white skull, black and green pants, purple sneakers and purple side backpack

I decided not give him hoodie or beanie unless if weather or the classroom is too cold because is bad for snakes hair

2. Clawd Wolf

Is almost like his G1 version but I give him mohawk afro hair. Teal, black and some gold jacket, pants and shoes. white and black striped shirt with moon crescent necklace

I didn't forget add his tail :D

3. Jackson Jekyll / Holt Hyde

Now for Jackson I went to G1 version and I give them retro squared glasses, yellow and white checkered shirt, checkered tie and checkered black pants and blue shoes.

And I added school backpack with cute monsters keychains

As for Holt's design. I give him blue fiery hair to separate Heath's design. For his clothing I design punk style duality. With red, white and black jacket, purple shirt, black and orange punk pants and mismatched shoes

Also I give him school backpack too without Jackson's keychains, red and purple headphones and orange round glasses ( I don't think transforming a monster can fix their sight)

4. Gillington "Gil" Webber

As for Gil's fashion inspired by recent G3 design: I give him teal and white sweater, black tank, black and white fish belt, green pants with black tentacle design and black and white sneakers

I like he's able to stay in land without using scuba helmet filled with water. Stilll he needs stay hydrate 24/7.

5. Manny Taur

Now for Manny. I give him grey top tank with orange vest. Blue pants and combat boots

He looks tough but his total softie. I promise

6. Heath Burn

Its combination of G1 and G3 Heath. I give him fiery blue shirt and fiery black pants, blue open toes sandals and heat-resistant gloves (to prevent burning something or someone)

Oh I give him nice set earrings and hint of his demonic heritage ;)

7. Invisi Billy

Finally for Invisibilly. I give him blue beanie, dark teal jacket with purple details, blue t shirt with danger sign and dark blue pants and boots

I decided to give him dark sunglasses for 2 reasons:

One is nod to classical invisible monster (Griffin) wears dark googles.

Two: Headcanon: Invisibilly's eyes are sensible to sunlight

Douglas is capable of driving and has a motorbike. Probably wrecked it some time before the game's events and it's in the shop or something. Not like he should be allowed on the road considering he's usually. Well. Yknow. Decent driver when he's sober though.

Also his lil fins flop down when he is sad tired or sick

Angela wears colored contacts. His actual eye color is purple (like in the concept art + model in the art book).

Krubis did try to crash the wedding between his wife and Giblets. it was a whole thing within the g3 for like a month or so

Mux owns the space versions of twitter and tiktok alongside Muxxalon. Muxxalon also has a streaming service full of very, very trashy and unoriginal content.

Moplets and Furgles share a common ancestor and are part of the same order. It's like humans in comparison to lemurs.

Furgles are often used in experiments not just by the G3 but in the scientific world as a whole for the same reasons animals like rats and fruit flies are used (simple, still adjacent/similar enough to sapient species, shorter lives which means more generations to be studied in a shorter amount of time)

Krubis skateboarded as a teen/young adult.

Giblets would kill a man for a white chocolate mocha. He has killed for a white chocolate mocha. He will kill again. Posthumously, even. Don’t fucking test him

Garmantuous’s species starts off as aquatic nymphs that resemble joints. They’re very small but grow to the huge size they are in game.

Gene deals with chronic pain from overexertion during his line of work and phantom + growing pains in his legs.

Knifey, pre-DLC, felt distant from the others. Initially it was all just work but seeing the bond between the Bounty Hunter and the Gatlians form + Gene start caring for other people again made him feel a lil left out

Granted it was not like he talked much to others and for a while he didn’t gaf at all but ig when he saw it all he eventually took a chance for a change of scene. He didn’t realize everyone else kinda counted him in, in the end

Either way he’s usually the type not to talk unless someone talks to him first or if it’s about stabbing and maiming killing etc etc etc or something he needs. Gradually opening up more but he’s actually pretty quiet on a day to day basis

Helen ends up working with Gurgula as a secretary/record keeper (squanch games please keep this gag running I beg of you)

im gonna rant about so many things that went wrong with the new monster high gen. there is. many.

lagoona isnt even blue anymore

why. why is she pink. WHAT HAPPENED TO HER CURLY HAIR and gil. he's...

i actually hate this. WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE THATTT WHAT HAPPENED. GIL IS NOT A FUCKBOY CHAD DONT MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE ONE

2. Draculaura's face marking, and her hair.

bangs, on fleek, slay girl. but...the colors. what happened to her stripes? it looked so cool. and the heart birthmark is supposed to be PINK. because its a BIRTHMARK and her skin is PINK ಠ_ಠ and her overbite is gone, no more fangs showing 3. frankie.

shes/they're....blue. so they made frankie blue and lagoona pink??? ... im guessing the metal leg is supposed to represent people with missing limbs so i wont say anything abt it

but her bolts are gone too?? now she has blue in her hair..okay? 4. ABBEY. (i am LIVID) WHAT. DID. THEY. DO.

one of the worst redesigns, in my opinion. I also heard she doesn't have her accent anymore?? way to take away every sense of individuality these characters ever had.

6. The breakup of Cleo and Deuce (and their designs) completely unnecessary, should've just let sleeping dogs lie really. i feel like they just wanted more LGBTQ characters. Cleo could've stayed with Deuce AND able to be bisexual. Cleo: Blue. INSTEAD OF GOLD? She's rich as hell, her hair is suppose to have gold in it for her richy-bitchy persona while still having good redeeming qualities that makes her a good character.

Deuce: he's green, okay, because he's a gorgon. That's fair, i suppose. His snakes are...mischievous now? I mean, they never used to be. They were always a bit goofy. His sunglasses are see-through..and he's a gorgon..everyone is turned to stone (you're not supposed to look into the eyes of a gorgon period..see-through sunglasses will NOT stop it.) Also, he has two mothers, great that's cool we love lesbian mamas. But one of them is a harpy..so..why doesn't deuce have harpy traits like Avea Trotter? Unless Lyra is a stepmom?

7. The outfits. What was once cool, has become really bad and modern. Literally. They don't appeal to me anymore. It looks like bright colors strewn haphazardly all over, they use the worst combinations as well. Not just with the outfits! I mean, look.

its just so...watered down. Blue on blue/Pink on pink..really??

8. The animation, and overall. Let's look at the difference between G1/2 and G3

excusing a few characters, but my question is, why? I really didn't see any reason to change the original. If it was 'to make it more appealing' then you failed at that, in my book. I've actually heard that one reason was sexualization of characters. None of these original characters were sexualized, remember, they are in HIGHSCHOOL. The patrons of Monster High range from 14-18 years old (save for the vampires) and the main cast is 15-16 years old. If anything, giving Abbey larger hips is sexualization. I get that most characters in the original are abnormally skinny but it is the art style that makes them that way. No, it isn't wrong to make them less skinny and give them some actual fat. There was little to no plus-size representation in the older shows/movies. It IS wrong to change their designs completely! I respect what they did with Catty Noir because they did change her body type but almost completely left her design alone. Rethink about what happened with this, ask yourselves what you did wrong.

things i'd change about bionicle lore if i was writing g3 (WARNING: THIS LIST LONG AS BALLS AND ALSO MOSTLY ABOUT MATA NUI) (also the no gender-locked tribes thing should be obvious)

1 - Some Matoran (and most other Matoranoids, save for Skakdi) are created without an elemental affinity. Notably for the Matoran, these unaspected Matoran (Nul-Matoran/Ze-Matoran/Ro-Matoran, as in null/zero? Pro-Matoran, as in Protodermis? Na-Matoran, a pun on N/A?) are occasionally discriminated against as being "wrong", though other cultures celebrate them as being unbound by destiny.

2 - The six main elements have been rejiggered a bit. Fire is about the same, but Water now has Ice put under its purview (think waterbenders from ATLA), and Earth now has Stone put under its purview (they should've been the same thing). To replace these two elements, Ko-Matoran are now Lightning-aspected while Po-Matoran are now Air-aspected, with Le-Matoran getting Air replaced with something like Plantlife or Nature (not a big fan of "the Green" as a name, and calling it Jungle is honestly a bit dumb imho). I could do a whole post on this topic but the tl;dr is that I think it just fits better with these characters/tribes/koros and their overall vibes and well as my general view on how elements should work.

3 - The other elements would be Av-/Light, Kra-/Darkness (prefer it over Shadow), De-/Sound (prefer it over Sonics), Ba-/Gravity, Fe-/Metal (combining Iron and Magnetism), and Ce-/Psionics. All six of these tribes exist on Mata Nui, but not as distinct entities - instead, they're mostly spread around the main six koros in varying populations. Life and Death are also elements, sorta, but there are no beings who embody them - all Matoranoids are imbued with some Life energy and Death energy would instantly kill any being who attempted to tie themself to it.

4 - On that note, each koro - while it has a dominant element - is no longer homogenous. On top of having Matoran from the secondary elements, Matoran from other "primary" elements do ive in koros not associated with their element. The size of each koro varies - the largest being Ga-Koro, the smallest being Ko-Koro - but generally they have a population of anywhere between 1,000 to 5,000 Matoran. Smaller villages are spread across the island, usually having a population between 50-100. Overall, Mata Nui has a population of somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 Matoran, compared to Metru Nui having about 1,000,000 Matoran plus members of other species such as Vortixx, Skakdi, and others.

5 - Toa and Turaga aren't a different race/species from Matoran. A Toa is just any Matoran who's unlocked deeper power within them, be it elemental or from their mask (with Matoran usually having very limited if any ability to utilize elemental or mask powers, though generally gaining more as they age). A Turaga is either a spiritual and political leader, or a term of respect given to older Matoran. Would definitely fit better with moments like, for instance, Vakama saying "we, the ones called the Matoran" in Mask of Light.

6 - On that note, Matoranoids - both Matoran proper and other Matoranoid species like Skakdi and whatnot - age. A Matoran is considered "young" when they're 10 or younger, and considered "old" when they're over 60, with the oldest being about 80. The caveat here is that Matoran don't really have a childhood, they're "born" into what would be equivalent to being between 15 to 20, depending on the individual.

7 - On that note, Matoran reproduction. When a Matoranoid dies, their body will disappear after a few days, unless it is destroyed beforehand, such as on a funeral pyre. In either event, the remains are teleported to the Red Star, where the Matoranoid's essence - their soul, in some respect - is reconstituted into a new Matoranoid - usually of the same species, but rarely of the same variant. The Red Star will then transport the new Matoranoid back down to either the MU or, now that there's a population center there Mata Nui, typically to whereever there may be a population deficit. This results in regional populations mostly staying consistent, though the process of a Matoranoid dying and being reincarnated takes a variable length of time, from several days to several years. A newborn Matoranoid is generally given basic knowledge, but otherwise lacks any memory of their old life or their surroundings. Tradition on Mata Nui is for new Matoran to be named by the Matoran who discovered them, though other regions have different traditions. Very rarely, a Matoranoid can recall their past lives, or even temporarily be taken over by an old consciousness, if either exposed to artificial stimulus (such as a mask power) or an especially strong reminder of their past life (such as someone they loved, romantically or platonically.)

8 - On that note, love is canon. Matoranoids don't experience traditional sexual attraction, but do still experience "aesthetic" attraction (not sure if there's another term for it?) and do still experience romantic love, platonic love, and - as much as a lifeform that doesn't directly reproduce can experience it - familial love. For the record, non-MU beings, such as Agori, Glatorian (who I'd retcon as being just a class of Agori as opposed to another species), and kinda-sorta Great Beings (who I'd retcon as being completely different from Agori and Glatorian) do experience sexual attraction and reproduce "normally."

9 - There are a lot fewer species in the Matoran Universe. I never liked how almost every unique being was a member of a species with like one or two members. Bara Magna can have a couple more species (namely, Great Beings being distinct from Agori and Glatorian, though as mentioned above I'd make the latter two one species) but the Matoran Universe needs a lot fewer. I'd make characters like Axonn just exceptionally powerful Toa or something, and have the Barraki each be members of a preexisting species but heavily mutated.

10 - Makuta are no longer all Shadow-aligned, instead being as diverse elementally as Matoran, with their creations often reflecting their element. They also no longer have Rahkshi powers - I'd honestly severely cull the Rahkshi power list given how many redundant ones there are. Instead, each element has one associated Rahkshi power (something thematically appropriate for it or ironic, like Fragmentation for Earth, Disintegration for Sound, Acid for Water, Illusion for Light, etc.) that Makuta of that element can grant to a Rahkshi.

11 - Makuta are immortal, unlike most Matoranoids, owing to the unique physiology (being almost entirely mechanical, and their souls being far more disconnected from their bodies and able to possess empty machines). This isn't a change, this moreso an absence of a change from lore - though I'd clarify it so they still technically have a "true form" with their original bodies, and they're also not made out of "antidermis", but can transfer their soul into another body through antidermis. Makuta can also possess other Matoranoids, though it's far harder because of all the organic bits.

12 - Notably, the Makuta are unaware of the true nature of the Great Spirit. They were created to serve the Great Spirit and maintain the internal ecosystem, and Teridax views his rebellion against it as a rebellion against a distant, tyrannical god. Were he to learn the true nature of the Great Spirit, that it was merely an AI piloting a giant robot through space, he'd likely fall into depression and resign himself to the pointlessness of the whole affair, or decide his true enemy are the creators of this so-called Spirit, or maybe he'd go into denial and act like it was some kind of trick this cruel god is playing on him.

13 - The Great Spirit AI is ironically one of the more primitive AIs the Great Beings ever built. It technically has emotions, but its primary directives weigh far more heavily on it than any personal feelings ever could, and it barely registers Matoranoids as even being alive, let alone as being worth consideration. For the GSR, protocol dictates action. This could be an interesting twist villain, with an AI that views the battle between the Toa and the Makuta not as a battle between good and evil, but moreso as its maintenance equipment breaking itself. Perhaps it's the Great Spirit that summons the Bohrok to clean things up so it can fully reboot, rebuild its "tools" from scratch, and finally get back to its mission of cataloguing the universe.

14 - The Great Beings are much more explicitly kinda assholes. They're a very alien species compared to the much more "human" Matoranoids and Agorinoids, viewing themselves much like the Great Spirit views itself: perfect, logical beings who are far above the tiny primitives that litter the surface of the world. Their actual logic can often be found lacking, however, and they're more just interesting in doing evil shit for the sake of advancing their knowledge of the universe. Great Beings are also mostly organic, unlike the Agori - who use cybernetics to enhance their ability to survive - and the Matoranoids - who are mostly robotic with some organic components.

15 - I never liked how big everything was, so now everything is much smaller, closer to the actual size of the sets. One bio is now equivalent to four centimeters (or 1.575 inches), which may seem arbitary, but in fact means one bio is equal to five "studs" - a common unit of measurement for Lego sets equal to the width of a 1x1 brick (0.8 centimeters, or 0.315 inches). Five studs is equal to a Lego minifigure in height, so you can kinda just go off the height of a minifigure for the length of a bio. The average Matoran or Turaga is three to four bio tall (12-16cm), the average Toa is four to five bio tall (16-20cm), and the absolute tallest beings in the Matoran Universe are up to nine bio tall (36cm). An Agori would be about as tall as a Toa, with most Agori in the Glatorian caste being at least five bio tall, if not six (20-24cm). The island of Mata Nui is about 1000 kio long (40km or 24.85mi, with one kio being 0.04km/4,000cm/1,000 bio, long), while the Great Spirit Robot is 7,000 kio tall (280km or 173.9mi)

16 - A bit of a continuation from the last point: Bara Magna would be larger than Earth, about three times larger, but would only have a bit more mass owing to a predominantly liquid protodermis, and thus not very dense, core. Aqua and Bota Magna would have similar gravity to, if not slightly weaker than Bara Magna despite both being smaller than Earth since their cores would have a lot more heavy metals like iron.

17 - To exacerbate their alien nature, Great Beings aren't at all scaled like Matoranoids or Agorinoids. They're on average 46 bio tall, or 184cm (a little over 6 feet for the Americans in the audience). They're utterly, impossibly giant to even the tallest Matoranoid, and were often mistaken as gods by the Agori.

18 - Destiny's not real. Or, rather, the future isn't predetermined. Some Matoranoids do have a destiny, in a sense, but it's something programmed into them by the Red Star, the Great Spirit, or the Great Beings - be it a specific reaction to a mutagen, or them taking a certain action in a specific scenario (such as a Toa betraying their comrades if their team tries to do a certain action). Some beings can sense the future, but it's always in flux.

as one last addendum, it took a lot of finagling to figure out that I should scale the in-universe size of Mata Nui and the GSR to about 1:2.8 (not the actual size, which would be closer to a 1:13 or 1:14 scale, specifically scaling the in-universe units), and I hope anyone working with that scale appreciates it because my "completely flunked Algebra" brain spent over an hour trying to figure that number out because I kept coming back with numbers that just didn't turn out right.

it feels like mh g3 did SO much work in making characters like Cleo & deuce more sympathetic and interesting, but on the flip side.....it just made toralei the exact same? she's just the bully character with very little else, unless she gets REALLY significant character development later....it's weird, it's like they were aware the way Cleo was written was pretty shallow & unlikeable, but they just passed it on to toralei by changing her very little. (I'm also not saying they should have just not had any bullying at all, or that she couldn't be antagonistic, it's just very boring lol)

Hi there! I have a genuine question, I'm not trying to be rude or bad. But I was wondering on how to refer to G1 & G2 Frankies. I know G3 Frankie uses they/them, and I'm unsure if it's okay to rever to G1 & G2 Frankies as she/her still. Since Mattel did call at least G1 Frankie she/her in her/their Haunt Couture and SDCC 2022 Voltageous dolls. So, should I use they/them for all versions of Frankie, or just for G3 and the first two as she/her? I just want to get it right.

No need to fear friend! Your question is very common! I’ve seen it a lot! I’m very glad you asked and I HOPE my answer helps not just you but anyone who may be wondering the same.

This might be a little above my pay grade* but here we go. I realize to the uninitiated changing pronouns of Frankie from she/her to they/them may be jarring. It’s new and new things can be difficult to remember especially when we knew them as one way for so long.

This topic of Frankie’s pronouns is very nuanced, I don’t really know if there IS a correct answer to this. In a perfect world you should be able switch seamlessly between she/her, they/them & she/they… but as I love to say: we don’t live in a perfect world.

So I can’t tell you what’s “correct” but here is what I personally have chosen to do. I have chosen to treat Frankie as if they are my friend. Someone I have known for many years who discovered something new about themself and they trust me enough with this new part of themselves to share. So now going forward while I knew them as a girl this information is no longer true and I have been informed that my friend Frankie is most comfortable going by they/them pronouns. This was a big change for my friend, I am humbled they trust me with this part of their life and as a good friend myself I will do my best to support my old friends new life. Will I slip up every now and then and call them “her”? Yes, of course I will, I’m human and we are flawed creatures I will apologize to my friend, correct myself & continue on our conversation without making a big scene about how dumb I am and how hard pronouns are and I won’t make it about me. That is what I am doing.

Now as for the topic of calling previous generations of Frankie by she/her pronouns as Mattel is choosing to still produce G1 Frankies in special instances such as Haunt Couture, Comic Con & Creeproductions. It’s fine? It’s correct. However I’m not gonna do it and here’s why: While the dolls can still live in the past? I don’t, none of us do. And just like if my real friends informed me if a change in their pronouns, there is no going back unless they tell me so. So I will continue to call my friend Frankie they/them even in the context of looking into their past.

My major complaint with g3 monster high is that it’s accepting but not. Like g1 headmistress wouldn’t care if Clawdeen half human because monster high is for everyone. But if g1 Jackson came to g3 Mh he be kicked out unless she saw holt appear consider they share a body.

Clearly plot is having Clawdeen show other students to be more accepting but that’s whole other can of worms…

7/10 it’s fine. I’ll watch it pass time and see how they’ll handle the previous characters

Inwardly, I keep comparing the growing pains in the transition between MH generations to how weird to me G4 of MLP felt at first. Like, G4 Rainbow Dash is an insanely huge departure in personality from G3 Rainbow Dash, yet she ended up being one of my favorite characters. So I dislike arguments that are like "this character has a completely different personality and that's bad." Like it can be weird, but bad? Unless it's something that's uncomfortable levels of weird like "Toralei is fantasy racist now," idk if change is necessarily bad.

THAT SAID, MLP G4 came out the gate establishing exactly who the Mane Six are and what their deal is. Like, I mean substantial personality information that bleeds through their designs. I was in full tweenage rage mode the first time I opened the MLP website to find out it'd been completely rebooted, but a quick look around the at-the-time sparse website left me dying to know how to watch the show because it did a great job intriguing me to the characters and world (even if the "Meet the Ponies" videos had some funny innacuracies like "Celestia is the only unicorn with wings" bruh the first scene of the show proves that false).

Like I said, at this point the only two characters I can get something of a good read on are Frankie (my beloved) and Draculaura (she's neat). Idk enough actual character stuff about anyone else, so to me the character changes we are getting feel less like "oh this'll be an interesting take on this character" and more "I feel like you've scrubbed this character clean of personality and replaced it with a few blurbs that I feel like aren't telling me much," which I think is why it feels like a downgrade as opposed to the "boo hoo the nostalgic MH fans don't understand how toy line generations work" I've seen some complaints about (I mean, I'm sure there are people acting like that but I don't think it's everyone; maybe I'm in an echo chamber).

For example, Lagoona has been rubbing me the wrong way. They seem to have replaced her whole personality (not a bad thing itself; recall Rainbow Dash) but instead of me seeing anything substantial in its stead she mostly just seems like a quick "tee hee isn't it funny that she's sweet but now she wants to eat you" like. Blah, does she have anything else going on? That's kinda weird tbh, especially because this means the only version of Lagoona with these violent impulses is also the only one who's depicted as Latina. Yikes.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, I mean the show hasn't properly premiered yet. The first couple episodes of the show seem promising, I really hope we get good character stuff outta them. I wanna get attached to these characters, the whole point of tie-in toy media is to get you invested and make you want the dolls of these characters you love!!!

Monster High G3 - Frankie Stein - Signature Doll

One of my faves from G1 has made their way to become, yet again, one of my faves in the current gen!

When the dolls first got leaked by that Coffin Bean playset box photo, Frankie was the one I got extremely excited for. I'm a sucker for the preppy-punk aesthetic, and I think Frankie nails that well enough! I'd have preferred a darker blue color scheme but it's honestly a non-issue. I get that the neon blue, pink, and lime colors suit their personality way more. I'm glad it's mostly four colors and just some hints of a fifth one so it's not as busy as Clawdeen's color scheme.

The inclusion of the prosthetic leg makes total sense for the kind of monster they are. Even the little doodles on the leg are nice finishing touches and really brings out their personality. I know the body prints on the earlier batches rubbed off pretty easily, but mine still haven't so I'm thankful. Her lower leg, however, has discolored into a yellowish tint, but I can't capture the accurate color on camera. I don't know if it's because of the print or if the material is just different from the upper legs, but it does bother me a bit. They eyebrow piercing though!!!

The shoes are okay. It leaves a lot to be desired but it's still coherent to their aesthetic. I do wish they were black instead of pink, because like the color of Clawdeen's shoes, they're kind of disconnected from the main outfit.

All of Frankie's accessories are wonderful. The lightning bolt motif is pretty apparent on almost every item, but I don't mind it! This is the core doll so I appreciate that they're introducing their motifs strongly. The clear lightning bolt backpack with the keychain is a fun but I think the little Instax camera steals its thunder (lol) because it's easier to put on them than the other. I appreciate that it came with the photos too! It doesn't come with a little ring for the doll to hold it though, so it's just gonna hang around like a bag.

For the smaller accessories, they come with a pair of clear shades with some lightning details molded on the frames. It's a lot darker on the actual doll but I'm glad it's still transparent enough to show their eyes! I am kinda bummed that they missed out on their water bottle though. I'd have swapped the screechza for it, for sure. They also come with their iCoffin that's molded with a personal touch of electricity.

The jacket becomes rather difficult to put on at times. It's tailored large enough to fit the shirt sleeves but I could never fit it enough for the shoulders to sit correctly. I still appreciate the additional clothing piece! There's definitely some mix and match potential here, but I barely use it unless I remove the shirt and keep their vest on, or wrap it around their waist.

Here's Frankie next to their budget version! Personally, I prefer the budget version because I think the outfit structure is more unique and the shoes are way more detailed than the core version. They also came with a handbag in this one, which I prefer a lot more than the backpack. The shoes also capture the creativity that MH shoes typically have, and they come with some dangling lightning bolts in the back! The pink glasses are from a different doll but I thought the colors complement the shoes more than the blue ones.

Overall, I was not disappointed with signature Frankie. They're still one of my top three signature dolls and my opinion has not changed from when I saw the leak to when I had them in my hands. While I still like the budget version better, this one has more restyling potential and I feel like all their accessories are definitely worth their inclusions.
