Something akin to a smile tugged the corners of Athos’ lips as he huffed out a soft laugh.

“We’ve learned the hard way not to underestimate women.” His gaze seemed to harden as he said it, his body to flinch involuntarily. “It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve found ourselves surprised by hidden weapons in unexpected places.”

He shook his head, casting another look over the woman. She didn’t seem dangerous, but neither had she, and Athos had paid the price many times over. And above that, this woman was English; their countries were at war. It wouldn’t be a far stretch to think that she may be a spy.

“What is your business here anyway?”

Hmm. There was something more behind that than was obvious in the words themselves. And in all honesty, Thera couldn’t really fault the caution itself: she meant no harm toward the Musketeers, their country or their King, but he was far from mistaken that she could be.

“I’ll save you a small bit of trouble, then - I have a corkscrew in a pocket in my skirts, right hand side. It’s small, but it’s sharp, and good against unwanted hands.”

Fortunately today that was all she was carrying, since it was also a good distraction if the fight became serious. “As for my business ...” She almost reached for the pouch on her belt but stopped herself in time, “I happened upon some papers I thought someone should see.”

“I’m afraid I don’t know his name.” Thera continued her own inspection of her clothing and herself, sighing irritably as everywhere she looked seemed to be stained as well.

“I also don’t know exactly what happened to him, but he had a wound in his side that didn’t want to stop.” She sighed and gave up, looking up at the Musketeer. “But one thing I do know is I’m going to need a new dress.”

“ Don’t panic. It's not my blood. ”

D'Artagnan breathed a soft sigh of relief, even as he continued to survey her for any obvious sign of injury.

"Then may I enquire whose blood it is? And why you happen to be covered in it?"

New school, new start of sorts. He frowned though, staring a proverbial hole through the door of his new classroom of sorts. Well, not a class, not yet, maybe not ever. Haven had all of their teachers, unlike Beacon...

He punched the wall, hard. Giving it a second, softer hit, he shook it out. Destroying property or his hand wasn’t going to make him feel better or find out what happened to Hanae and some of the other Beacon professors. Maybe he should have stayed..With a shake of his head, he took a step back, knowing he need to calm down.

However, someone else was using the hallway and he had back right into them. He managed to not quite lose his feeting, spinning on the spot to face the random stranger. “Sorry, lost in my head. You okay? Hey, you were in the tournament!”

“Hm? Sorry I didn’t quite catch that.” Lye questioned turning her attention to the stranger.

D'Artagnan looked relieved at her explanation, finally halting his inspection in favour of glancing over Thera’s shoulder, as if he might see the wounded party there.

“Where is he now? Did you manage to get him somewhere safe?”

For if there was a man in need of help, D'Artagnan was more than willing to provide it. He’d learned a thing or too from Aramis about treating wounds in the field, so his initial nervousness regarding such things had been replaced with the same brash confidence with which he approached everything in life. Yet, his gaze was kind as he returned his attention to Thera and her blood-soaked dress and offered her his arm.

“You can’t go around looking like that. Why don’t you come inside? I’m sure Madame Bonacieux will have something you can borrow.”

“His friends were there. I tried to look after him while they orgsanised to take him to a physician.” And although she was keeping both things to herself, she was first fairly sure he wasn’t going to make it and also a fair bit peeved that she’d ended up covered in the blood of some idiot who couldn’t stay out of a fight.

She tossed a wry glance at the young Musketeer - D’Artagnan, wasn’t it? - and his immediate enthusiasm to help, wondering half-jokingly where he’d been when the actual drama was going on.

“Well, I assure you I could go around looking like this, the reactions might be amusing ... but I daresay you’re right, it would be more sensible to borrow a replacement. Just warn Madame Bonacieux before I startle her.”
