I have seen multiple teachers face immense backlash for even thinking about “working to contract.” every other job can quiet quit but if a teacher doesn’t pour their soul into every school day they’re damned. people are convinced if teachers aren’t sacrificing every last bit of their time, money, and health for their students then they must be abusing them. they must hate children. they should have known what they signed up for. think of the kids! I swear some people truly believe a good teacher needs to be a martyr.

if a person in nearly any other profession told people they were going home and crying most days because of what they endure at their job people would scream LEAVE! what are you doing, get out of there! So I’m going to say it. being a teacher is not any different than any other job if you are being abused LEAVE if you are being forced into situations you feel unsafe LEAVE if your boss does not listen to your concerns LEAVE and please do not let anyone try to convince you that you do not “love your students enough” if you decide to make a choice for your own health. you are not responsible for fixing a system that has been set up to fail. you are being paid to do a JOB and it is a job that you deserve to be supported, respected, and SAFE in. education is a passion but it is not worth dying over
