JSF opting to keep the ice dance spot at Worlds TBD and waiting to see how the results pan out at 4CC - we’re seeing the rise of Azusa and Shingo, and Utana and Masaya. Japanese ice dance is so exciting.

Masaya Morita has a new partner and it's... Utana Yoshida! Good to see her back skating. I hope Nao finds a partner soon.

New Japanese dance team!

Utana Yoshida / Masya Morita 

Both are Japanese Junior Champions with former partners and have both Junior Worlds and Junior Grand Prix experience. Yoshida last competed with Shingo Nishiyama and Morita with Nao Kida.

😳☺️ wow - baby team Utana Yoshida/Masaya Morita won the FD

KoKo won gold despite being 2nd in both the RD and FD and 3rd in PCS 👀 they skated two clean programs but didn’t win either segment

Azusa Tanaka/Shingo Nishiyama win silver. hopefully we’ll see all 3 teams at 4CC

Today was the final day of competition at Japanese Nationals.

Misato Komatsubara and Tim Koleto won their fifth national title. Azusa Tanaka and Shingo Nishiyama won the silver, and Utana Yoshida and Masya Morita won the bronze.

Kaori Sakamoto won her fourth national title. Mone Chiba won her first national medal, the silver. Mao Shimada won her second straight bronze.

Azusa Tanaka and Shingo Nishiyama are a new team at IAM

Shingo is best known for the two seasons he was junior Japanese national champion with Utana Yoshida. He trained previously at Cricket Club and now most recently in Novi with Igor with Ayumi Takanami

Azusa has been a junior singles skater training with Mie Hamada and was 5th at junior nationals in Japan in 2022
