Aerin and Valax are two different sides of the same coin for the reasons that motivate people to work for the bad guys. For Aerin it’s about his selfish desire to gain power for himself while for Valax it’s about her selfless loyalty to her people. I think it’s really interesting how two complex and intriguing characters who both grew up abused, both have the capacity for goodness and kindness, and have worked for the enemy can have such different motivations
