some of my prescriptions for Serbian, in no particular order:

I strongly oppose the usage of diminutives in general, even when the underlying root doesn't normally occur separate from the diminutive suffix. I'm especially anal about avoiding the (ubiquitous) usage of diminutives as names for animals; have some respect. the proper word for “mole” is krt, not krtica; the proper word for “fox” is lisa, not lisica. I also prefer muškar as a word for “man” over muškarac (if only bc muškar sounds a whole lot like mošus, “musk”), and srd over srce as a word for “heart” (bc it elucidates the word's etymological connection w the word for “middle”)

the proper Serbo-Croatian reflex of Latin -ia is -ja, not -ija, hence why the traditional word for “Bosnian” is Bošnjanin (from Bošnja). in particular, I advocate for the revival of now-obsolete Srblja over Srbija (the epenthetic insertion of /l/ in Srblja is regular & permissible), and especially the corresponding demonym Srbljanin over the linguistic travesty that is Srbijanac (also: Britanja over Britanija, Kolumblja over Kolumbija, etc.)

on the topic of country names, I prefer the derivation of names from endonyms over both exonyms and the unadapted adoption of native names: Kartvelja is better as a word for “Georgia” than Gruzija, and Šipnja is better than Albanija (I also propose borrowing Slovenian's Tajska as a replacement for Serbian's rather inelegant Tajland—compare the Serbian word for “Finland”, Finska)

I'm not very enthusiastic about loanwords from Church Slavonic that managed to survive Karadžić's turn to Serbian vernacular. I propose replacing them with native equivalents regularly derived from Common Slavonic—in particular, uzduh instead of vazduh as the word for “air” (by the same token, the Serbian word for “Easter” is properly Uskrs, not Vaskrs or Voskrs)

the nominative suffix should be consistently dropped or retained in proper names borrowed from Latin and Greek—if you're going to call it Rodos, you should also say “Aristoteles” instead of Aristotel (though obv the preferable option would be to say Rod and Aristotel, as is traditional)

on the topic of personal names, I think Serbian equivalents of foreign names should be used when possible (Karlo instead of Charles and so on); if no native equivalent is available, nativisation is always preferable to outright calquing: it would be extraordinarily silly to “translate” Henry as Slobodan, but something like Jenri could work

we should probably get rid of /x/. its presence in standard Serbian has always been something of an archaicism, and all dialects of Serbo-Croatian native to Serbia have lost the phoneme; it only feels natural to remove its last remaining vestiges from the standard language as well
